I stayed w/Bob in Topanga, summer-fall '77*. The place was certainly there then. Whether or not it was destroyed in '83 is another matter, unknown to me, but your video ISN'T Bob's Topanga house . I can't tell if it's the location, but it's NOT the building. (* Topanga real estate got so expensive by then, that he got a bigger, better house, & made a profit, by moving a few miles away, late '77, early '78.)
Dude, that is NOT the same house Bob lived in. That house WAS destroyed in the flood of 1980. Alan was not cremated there. His ashes are in the redwoods up in Sequoia because we (Bob's family) put them there. I lived at the house in 1971-1973. You are not proving anything but Alan died behind our house...that was not the house though. I have a picture of the house when it fell after the storms. It was a wood house, no spiral staircase. There was one bedroom upstairs and the kitchen, living room and bathroom on the first floor.
thanks val for that excellent clarification. they merely kept the same postal address on that new concrete structure that was built and clyde cant seem to comprehend that..it would be so nice to see that picture you have if you could post or email to me that would be great..
thanks for the info clyde, I never thought he went out with suicide. It was good to see it documented. drugs, sex, and rock n roll, that saying came out in the 70's and it almost took me out a few times, the drugs anyway. what a loss, The Bear too. Their brand of music was the most unique I ever heard.I listen to them every week , they are on my permanent rotation.long live Canned Heat and Rock n Roll.
Why ignore tyme2play1 who actually LIVED in the house if he's telling you that the concrete house was NOT the original structure? Why is that so hard for you to comprehend?
I like Clydes voice. I keep waiting for this guy to say...Bab "da Bears" Hite was a young blues man. Canned Heat did a show in Chicago in 1966 da same day we were doing our MVP ritual dance for a young Bears player who was none other than a Mr. Mike Ditka. Day were playing at a local bar and an hour before day went on, Bab "da Bears" Hite was sitting in da lounge area eating a polish sausage with a certain amount of enthusiasm. He then starts choking and Mike went around to perform da heimlich on Bab. Bab's sausage then proceeds to fly out of his mouth and hits a very young Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson in da face and breaking the horn rimmed specks he was wearing at da time. Alan was not in his usual state of mind and threw a fit leading to his threatenening to quit da band on the spot, but being da master at diplomacy and for da sake of our MVP ritual dance, I bought him and Bab a beer and day went on to perform well on into da morning. Rest in peace Bab "da Bears" Hite. - SNL
IT WAS "NOT THE EXACT HOUSE"! you have been told many times! it was the exact property and same postal address location, but "NOT THE EXACT HOUSE" get it? Why do you struggle to understand that? All you did was "prove" via a death certificate that the postal address location was the same!
all I know is, I share your love for CANNED HEAT. in Jr. High I was a fan already. that was early 70's .I'm also just a couple miles from his birthplace and hangouts. Harvard Sq., which is where (much later)eventually, the ORIGINAL HOUSE of BLUES stood.
All that box on the death certificate is, is the usual place of residence...701 Topanga. That is not necessarily location where the deceased was found.
What's your point? That he walked a few steps over to another address?, took a plane to another city? died there, & then, for some unknown reason, everyone lied about it? You're out of your mind.
I don't know how true this is? I was told alan looked beaten up when they found him? And that Bear was always jealous of alan and wanted to be the leder of the band and ill leave it at that?
That WAS the area/address but it is NOT the house!!!!! The house that stands there now is a house that was shut down during construction and NEVER completed OR OCCUPIED BY ANYONE for whatever reason(s) (building code violations and/or financial reasons I believe). Either way, you are WRONG!!!!!!
Looking over the Amazon reviews, it seems that Alan Wilson fans are under the impression that he wrote “Goin Up The Country”. With apologies to those who know better: Alan’s two hit singles, (the other, “On The Road Again”), were not composed by him.
Thats the house but he died of blunt force trauma and carried to the spot in a sleeping bag.. Not an overdose, there were no drugs in his system at time of death
First of all,Skip Taylor their manager at the time found Alan body behind Bob's house after he drop the Band off at the airport. It wasn't a couple of days later.Read Fito's book living the blues. Also the Band made most of their money off the Concerts they were performing.Alan body was burn at a funeral home not in the woods wear Alan died. When The Band got back from Europe Bob Hite pick Alan Ashes up at the morgue.
+tyme2play1 Well,Fito and Skip Taylor are lying and considering they were both there and you weren't, I would believe Skip and Fito.I bet you wouldn't hae the balls to tell them they didn't know what they were talking about.
jwjeffrey Craig Hoppe and Ed (Verlies Son, Bobs Step Son) found him. I never said I was there but I lived at that house shortly after that. I was there when Alan's ashes were put up in Sequoia. They know Craig and Eddy found Alan, they just want to make claim to it.
Yes it is Ed Marrow and you are correct about the living room being walls full of 78's. It was up on the hill where Alan passed away. It was Craig Hoppe that found him and Ed was there as well.
jwjeffrey Skip and Fito did not find Alan...that is a lie. Fito's book is a lot of smoke and mirrors and unfortunately some of the people are dead and cannot tell the truth. You are relying on a book for your info while I actually know first hand from the people who found Alan. And FYI I would tell them to their face that they are lying about this.
Alan’s death still me depresses and saddens me after all these years. He was the genius musical spark of an entire generation. RIP, Alan😢

tyme2play1 was bob still married when he passed away? I’m sorry, I can’t remember her name. What ever happened to her?

Bob worked for my father who owned Rancho Music record store in Westwood Ca. Been to bob's house many times and this is not his house.

mcbillygoat !
Bab 'Da Bearrss' Hite wasnt da first choise for Canned Heat. It was none udder dan MIKE DITKA himself.
I'd've liked to 1/2-believe this. Re-write it to be the Electric Theater, May 1968, & y'got me.
Wow he died 2 weeks before JIMI what a bummer man!
Thanks for your work! I've been looking at a few other vids you've uploaded and all are much appreciated!

Alan was a talented and amazing man
Bringing the receipts. Good job.
Where can be found Bob Hite's final resting place? Was he cremated too? I have not managed to find any information on the internet.
And thank you brother!
The original house was destroyed by flooding in the early 80's. The replacement house was never finished, probably due to similar problems.
Thank you. Great job.
In the book “Livin the Blues” Fido confirms this. Page 224

It's in Rebecca Davis's book.
(I see your post is from 2yrs ago. I thought Davis's book was released less than 1yr ago.) In any case, WHAT is in "in Rebecca Davis's book"?
