I think this is insane because each shop you hit in this game, the further and further it strays from Texas Hold’em poker (aka gambling). On your first blind, all you’re really doing is ranking poker hands, that’s the closest it gets to “gambling”. Every hand after the first one your play style differs further and further from actual poker. How is knowing the rankings of all the poker hands the same as staking real money on an outcome governed by luck? It’s like they watched the trailer, saw poker hands, and went “yeah that’s enough for me, send this one to the gulag”.
Poker is gambling when you are betting money on cards that haven't been drawn yet. Balatro has this form of gambling, but it's for *points* which can only be redeemable for your time.
i love how all balatro teaches you is... that three of a kind is better than a pair in poker but yes, that knowledge will help you so much when playing poker... :P
Valve, Epic, and Microsoft/Activision at the time probably paid off PEGI to restrict the game because an alternative dopamine source to their lootbox economy was dangerous, and they didn't want the lootbox kids to discover free dopamine from hitting that 1/4 chance on the wheel card in Balatro.
Mario 64 ds literally has poker that you can gamble in (coins) and well I doubt that is a 18+ game. It also has far stronger gambling ties in that game it's just not the focus
eh it sucks but i expect high high majority of people wanting to play this game to be adults or at the very least not have such strict parents who wouldnt allow this kind of game over a shooter like fortnite.
There's Texas Hold Em in Nintendo's clubhouse games that includes betting with chips and PEGI rated it 3+ ruclips.net/video/KrrVIGv7Vwk/видео.htmlsi=qs71vAZCXVUrYebO
How can "gambling imagery" be punished but lootboxes are somehow just a fun jack in the box? Wild times
Exactly 💯
This is ridiculous. Balatro actually manages to remove the gambling aspect of poker, you don't have to bet anything at any point.
@@albema2 exactly dude
