- In this episode I decide to start riding, even though there has been some torrential downpour in the mountains. Hoping for the best, I set off and well - the weather is not the easiest to ride in, when the visibility is this poor...

Noraly, you have one of the best channels on RUclips. Thank-you for bringing us along.
The best channel !
Those half round huts are called "Nissan Huts". They are a remnant of World War 2, where they were used mostly by military for barracks. After the war, they got sold off in droves everywhere.
I've always heard them referred to as Quonset huts
That has broadened our view of Africa, what a difference to the plains of Namibia, but everywhere people seem welcoming and friendly, how very sobering from the mainstream media. Thank you Noraly, from France.
Well done to Itchy Boots and Savanna for braving the rain and the cold.
The bales being loaded onto the truck are cotton.
You've only just scratched the surface with Zim's beautiful Eastern Highlands Honde Valley ''tick'' , Inyanga , Chimanimani & Bvumba mountain ranges are all breathtaking . ENJOY.
I think she passed inyanga
@@tendaifushai5651 I think she turned off before.
Buff beans!!!!!!!!!
"Not much happened, now that I think about it…"
…except for nearly going bananas, but then riding past them, defeating thick fog, climbing over a cloud, beating the odds of Savannah dropping on slippery roads…
…and being the usual awesomeness in general. :oD
…and showing a rare rain event in Africa.
That's enough to to happen in a video. Me, I liked it.
If you want to see bananas come to the Canary Islands, specially in Tenerife and la Palma islands you will get tired of bananas 🤣
@@ndres839 Special of the season: The la Palma ones come pre-baked from their trees!
You have given exactly the response I was going to give. 👍🏻
Ah, exactly!
Well said!
A trillion thanks to you, Noraly , for this pleasure that you give us professionally. I wish you success and may God protect you. You are the bravest woman in the world.
Eastern Highlands is beautiful.... you gotta love Zimbabwe 😍
One of these episodes 81, 82 and 83 made me discover Itchy Boots channel but the painful thing is that I can't recall which exact one! Since then, I've never missed an episode. Even when I was on vacation in Uganda, I never missed her episodes on a smart tv which displayed better than my hand held gargets. I'm getting so lucky day by day since I've watched over 80% of her channel. Thx Noraly❤🙏
Those houses were Nissen huts, which are a prefabricated steel structure for military use, especially as barracks, made from a half-cylindrical skin of corrugated iron
In the USA we call them quonset huts.
also known as a quonset hut...
@@davidroberts5005 Hi David, my brother lives in Maryland and I'm often telling him he's getting names wrong. 😁😉
Looking up the history of these things I'm not quite sure which country can claim these, but of course I think it's the Brits. They were designed during WW1 by the American-born, Canadian-British engineer and inventor Major Peter Norman Nissen. It was used also extensively during WW2 and adapted to the similar Quonset hut in the United States. Peter Nissen moved with his family to Canada in 1891. In 1910 he moved to Witwatersrand, South Africa with his wife and daughter Betty and in 1913 he moved to Great Britain. Nissen patented his invention in the UK in 1916. He was naturalised in 1921 as a British subject.
@@mrcintheuk5596 It is a British military thing. We have them here in Malta. They were very fast, and simple to construct for make shift barracks, but they last for ever. The corrugated iron was galvanized. They built by having two stone walls in a semi circle shape vertically, and just drape it with flexible corrugated sheets. Only the first one was a nissen hut with all iron sides. The ends only , in Malta are stone.
@@mrcintheuk5596 Reading the initial post I thought, 'must look this up' but now I don't have to. Thanks MrC.
That mist is part of the mystique of the Eastern Highlands of Zim. 'Bvumba' (the next mountain range on your trip!) is the Shona word for mist. But, when you can only see 10 metres, maybe not the best time to visit this amazing area.
Yes Bvumba known for its mists but if she moves out in a few days it may clear.
8:04 Yes its cotton Noraly, which is one of Zimbabwe main exports along with gold, ore, tobacco and sugar.
and Tea?
U have enough water to grow cotton? It needs a massive amount of water, just like the yuppie food Avocados as well.

It’s probably because she spends little or no time reading newspapers or being subjected to constant negativity pumped out by television. Many people who avoid the media are like this.
@@Known-unknowns Yes! Boycott the media, all television. It is called television for a reason, they are telling you to follow their vision which is gloom and doom, no hope. GOD is good🙏
Noraly dares to do what she dreams and with a huge heart accommodates us with her derring-do escapades. We all are like the waters settled in the deep oceans and noraly is a free wave that dared to reach the shores and explore it. She is triumphant in doing so and very kind to allow her followers to cherish the wonders she experienced herself. We may not be the waves to reach the shores but have the common undercurrent of adventurism and noraly narrates the wonders aptly. I dissolve in ecstasy through her videos. Thanks for being the wave and showing us the shores.
So elegantly spoken ~
Very beautifully expressed. Great use of the English language.

I often smile when you say, "everyone is so friendly." when almost always it is you that is friendly. I think your video's are the best and often surprised how great your accommodations turn out to be. Well done...
@Chappy D, greeting is one of the defining traits of African people in general, we are just taught from childhood to greet all people. The fact that she greets first means she is settling in with the African tradition. In this particular region people are really friendly.
There are several things that I always think of when I see Noraly always being treated great, when you greet people with a smile and a happy attitude and you are cute too it will melt not only ice but stone. If anyone in the hospitality business has ever watched a Noraly video they can see she has 850,000 people following her and always lets people know how great the people are when they do a good job. Treating her nice is easy because she is gracious, and happy and cute and she will always bring out the best in people I hope when this virus finally lets go and I can feel safe about travelling I can try to be a lot more like Noraly.
I have traveled solo in several countries on the African continent and it was my experience that the people in the countries I visited were, almost always, super friendly. Of course it has to go both ways, but I found genuine, helpful, friendly people far more so than in my western world nation.
It's very obvious the difference between how the city people act toward her when crossing their paths versus the people out in the country & mountains. I noticed it before she said it.
That's usually the case pretty much all over the world though, country folk more apt to greet each other and city folk more apt to appear to ignore each other. In fact if a random stranger comes on friendly in a city, they're often suspected of being up to something or being off their rocker. And a person in the country ignoring others tends to be viewed as antisocial or rude.
As a black African guy working in Europe, it's totally different. I learnt to keep myself to myself which was against everything within me. So unfriendly people and learnt to not notice the veiled insults
Just seeing the world through your travels is enough "happening"! As always, thank you, and be well!
Good day to ya all, Itchy Boots, do take care over there in beautiful Zimmies my country of birth....hope to return someday!
I hope to return as well. Watching these video´s are bringing back memories.

Incredible Zimbabwe🇿🇼. Awesome video Noraly. You and Savanna are indeed made of steel ❤️
I was with you all the way Noraly sitting here in my comfy chair with my laptop while we were trudging through the mists and the mud and cold rain. I want you to know I even found myself raising my left foot from the floor hahaha in a couple of tricky spots to help you balance. I hope you found a nice warm fire and hot food at the end of this leg of your journey. Once again, thank you so much for all you do to bring some joy and excitement into the lives of so many!
She found a very cute cottage!
Another mountain....Another cloud......nothing Noraly can't handle......
This is a refreshing contrast from the Namibian arid rides.
You're restoring my faith in humanity. Every video, you meet good, kind humans all over the globe! Thank you for reminding us all that we're on this same "big blue marble" together.
Cold, wet, no visibility, dangerous conditions, clogged tyres.
What great fortitude Noraly shows.
The buildings in the beginning of the vid are called Nissan huts. the were very common in WW2 on airfields in England. The ends as you can see are brick but sometimes they were tin or wood. the roof structure is made up of curved Wriggly Tin or to give it its correct name Corrugated Tin, the sheets start out flat and are machine rolled to the curve. Usually five sections make about a 5ft width. then all you need to do is is keep adding sections to the length of the building you need. It is still used in farms for pig pens, barns etc etc as it is relatively cheap. Great videos and I really enjoy your adventures. Good luck and ride safe.
Thanks for that history listen. I remember them from a small town called Kadoma in Zimbabwe. In our local language Shona they were referred to as "misana yenzou" literally translated to mean elephants' back.
Also called Quonset huts.
My first trip to Germany in 1945 (as a 5 year old), those structeres were going up all around the bombed cities , some are still around. In 1967 I still saw them around Hamburg. Your travell reports are exceptionel Noraly, we learn a lot about our Earth !
For anyone wanting to look them up, it's Nissen not Nissan.
Another advantage of Nissen huts during wartime is apparently that they do not cause a shadow (except when the sun is very low), thus if covered with camouflage cloth, they cannot be seen (and bombed) from the air.
A few mud puddles & fog won’t stop Noraly from another epic adventure!! 🌦🌍🌿🏍♥️

Yes, Noraly, the scenery is always spectacular. But most of us don't watch for the scenery. We watch for you. When you stopped for an extra layer, I felt your chill. When you got a little bogged down in the clay, I found myself willing Savana slowly forward. As the road undulated beneath you, I wondered if you were sitting or up on the pegs. Hi Noraly,
It’s funny when you said “not much happened”.
I think that little ride was just magical!
The mist in the trees reminded me of the Shire in the Hobbit. That was just beautiful scenery and a wonderful, mystical getaway for all of your viewers.

Everyone who has been riding through foreign territory so very well recognize the preparations and thoughts that Noraly expresses allthough in my case at a much smaller scale. One can almost smell it! The photography and so on is as usual fantastic.

Brings back so many memories. I worked on a tea estate in the Honde Valley in the late 70’s. We couldn’t travel along most of those gravel roads because of the danger of land mines.
