You can get GPU's with an NPU built in or attach a NPU to an open PCI port right now, they've been a thing for a while. The new Copilot+ stuff is all arm based though, so you won't be able to use that stuff specifically on desktop until the fall, when they're supposedly coming out with Intel/x86 stuff
If you have a 20 series gpu and above, you already have tensor cores for AI related tasks

Aren't most of these apps using cloud NPUs or GPUs? Are the apps updated to use local NPUs?
The chip is for non techies. A way for average people to use A.I.
So it is the same as the neutral engine chips that are present in MacBooks since the M1 in 2020

The NPU is already used in the Core Ultra series right? It has been useful for some simple tasks. I hope more are coming soon...
Both the the intel Core Ultra 100 (Meteor Lake) and Ryzen 8000 laptop cpus are kind of rushed first-generation/in-between-generation products. Intel's Lunar Lake ,AMD's Strix Point, and Qualcomms X-Elite have the TOPs to do actual useful local AI tasks. The NPU is just a low power and more efficient way to do some local AI tasks on laptops/devices with batteries. If you've got a Nvidia GPU, well, you can already do way more than these NPU's.

Yeah, but they keep wanting to make our fully functional PC's obsolete where they can help hardware makers increase revenue. But, my 7th gen PCs (i7-6700k) is perfect still.
I don't think NPU cards are gonna be a thing.
Any RTX Card and the RX 7000 lineup already have AI hardware.
It's mostly an OEM thing so you support HP or Dell and don't think of anything silly like building your own machine to ensure you wholly own the machine

You probably don't even use AI that much. The NPU isn't meant to be powerful, it's just meant to be "good enough."

Windows 12 minimum system requirements: processor :4 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 6 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC).
There is many improvements with Windows 11 for sure I don't deny it,but without different versions of the same OS,Windows is starting to get a "conventional OS".
To be something more than more it would either require a 8K UHD technology or something like that in a special version.
Windows 11 is a bit too much like the olders Windows starting at Windows 7,well for someone like me.
For someone like me I would most recommend Windows 13 or maybe Windows 14. I can wait without many efforts if I create something very special I can make efforts either.
I know that when they release different versions of the same Windows,the delay between those versions is lot shorter.
For my further next laptop I'll wait for a new kind of OS.
The potential of my new laptop is very very high so I can wait very long time.
The thing would be to create something very special as I said.
You know news is full of lies,it's not good to mixt news and the reality right on the desktop. Life and computing is more quiet at base it's an other tangent from the reality.
For my further laptop I'll get one with a built-in special technology instead of getting it with the OS.
If there is no more Windows specials versions,with my laptop my graphics card is already just like a technology and it's QHD and I have a 4K monitor.
It's too complicated to wait and to depend on things like this and if it doesn't work you would have to let down,well it's not always the same thing.

Now I understand. There won't be others special Windows 11 versions available,it wasn't planned for Windows 11 if not there would be a upgrade option.
Just like in the Windows 7(16-bit) there was a 32 and a 64 bit version upgrade for when released,in the options.
Or just like in Windows 8 (8.1) there was a 8.2 upgrade for sure.
Well for a further Windows it would be lot better to change the versions names for something really different or to change it completely,for everyone to not misunderstand.
Or it would be possible to release both at the same time to make the thing more simple.
I won't buy Windows 12 for sure.

And for the news in the taskbar it's to be at the mercy of annoying stuffs those times it's something very common and lethal and it's something never seen before. It's like the step to never make,the line to never cross,the sin to avoid at all costs,the thing to never build/create.

Windows 11 is something else I know but sometimes the first impression is the good one and without changing the matter thinking about the things that you will make with your PC,or OS.

It's a bit like Windows XP vs Windows 7,the miss of real things make all the thing too much and harder to control.
In add with the Windows 11 interface after some times you will have more than enough.
I would most recommend Windows 12.

your windows and its ADs are the best, but everyone hates it for these reason:
1. Lack Of compatibility with old computers: due to having too many pre-installed apps and high-end apps
example for pre-installed applications: 3d paint (gimp for swift alternative), xbox game bar (obs studio for swift alternative), 3d viewer (blender for swift alternative & more features & customizations), Copilot (AnyDesk and DeepArt for alternative), Groove Music (Foobar2000 For Alternative)
2. Lack Of Customizations: Due to Not Having Custom Theme Transparency & Personalization Options like Linux
3. Forced Updates: Users are often frustrated by mandatory updates that disrupt works
4. Privacy Concerns: Windows collects a lot of user data, which many find intrusive

IDK what's so hard to just give them security update even if it's too much
like they have the ability in the company to split an individual team to support diffrent types of Windows at the same time and it does not have to be daily it could be monthly just to prevent hackers

As a longtime Windows customer, I'll be switching to Apple. The 3 screens dream has no turned into outright intrusion to include ads built into the OS. You've neglected Xbox, you've destroyed mobile, and put all your cards into AI (which the vast majority of your customers never asked for or don't want). You destroyed your brand.

Hello @windows, please focus on ironing out your UI first, you still have a ton of inconsistent UI throughout the OS. And dont force your ads and bloatware in it and expect people to switch from macos to windows. Soon, many of us will be joining you -- when Win10 is phased out. I'm already learning and prepping to move all of my many Win10 systems to Linux.
@@PoeLemic I suggest moving to chromeOS, (it's a linux operating system) but made by google and it's much better than regular linux like ubuntu, (it's downloadable), but that's only if you can't upgrade to windows 11, if you can upgrade then please do since chromeOS isn't that as stable as chromeOS.
@@the_mclean I definitively would NOT use ChromeOS, as it's a non-free Linux-distro, causing much hardware issues, and it's not even possible to install external applications, without creating a virtual environment just to run one linux application, which is very resource-intensive.
Also, don't use Ubuntu, use debian instead.
