Is there no way to change enharmonic spelling while the carat is on? It's tedious to keep going in and out of the carat mode to do that, as well as some other things.
Yes you can. If you're using pitch before duration then go to the Dorico Preferences > Note Input and Editing and change the 'specify articulation' option to 'after inputting note'.
@@dorico thanks so much! And wow, you can even insert articulations without leaving the note input mode!? That's fantastic! Started using it right away:)
Oh, but I see now, that's not enharmonic re-spelling, it's accidental placement rather, which is also very helpful. Is there also a way to change the enharmonic spelling of an entered note when the carat is on? Say, I intended to write an Ab using my MIDI keyboard, but Dorico wrote a G#. By pressing the 0, - or = buttons I can change it to a G or Gb, but I can't change it to an Ab. To do that I'd have to delete/replace the note with an A, then hit - to flatten it... or get out of the carat, open the virtual keyboard below to push the "respell" buton.
@@HakanATokerYou can respell with Alt (or option) and then the - or = buttons. You can respell with sharps, flats, double sharps, double flats, etc. I use this is a lot!
I have one (non repeated) half note and want to specify the enharmony (ex: F# i.e Gb) on the sheet, by putting two quarter notes (F# and Gb) vs.the half note duration. But i do not want to repeat this note and Dorico considers it is two different notes. The only way i found is to apply a slur between the two quartal notes but i am not convinced about this. Is there is a way to extend the duration of the note by enharmony ? Thank you so much for your help.
Enter the two notes as F# (use Force duration if Dorico is automatically creating a half note ruclips.net/video/BAKyZHI0pLM/видео.html) and then in Engrave mode choose just the second note and press Alt and = to change it to a Gb. (Alt and - to enharmonically change the other way. Alt is the same key as Opt depending on what your computer labels it as.)
@@dorico all right it means i need to upgrade my licence of Dorico for iPad. Definitely an option since i am totally in love with the software. Thank you for the tip !
Yes, Dorico allows you to choose tonality and use mircotonal systems but ONLY if you use PRO
