- This is the cheapest way to clean your glass smoking pipe using just rubbing alcohol, salt and a ziploc bag! This is by far the easiest way to get your pipe cleaned, and the cheapest too! You could alternatively use glass cleaner, but this works perfectly! Lastly, don't forget to rinse your pipe with hot water after!

Thanks for reminding me i need to clean my glass pipe.
Me too
Be careful after cleaning… The flow increases times 10 lol.
Yeeessss gotta be careful 😂
You ain’t never lied my lungs feel so premature after cleaning my bowl
I just boil the kettle and pour hot hot water and cleans it great
That's what she said, ayoooo.
@johnwoodward4903...Same, but I add Dawn dish soap. I resolve this year to get a dry vape & save my throat...
I use to just soak in alcohol, didn't know about using salt. I always used a glass pipe, and when it's clean, you get the truest flavor.
Same here . Then I would or the alcohol onto a plate and let it evaporate scrape up the resin and use that. More times than not. I would like to plate on fire and burn off the rubbing alcohol which would be quite a flame on a 12 inch dinner plate but it did the job.
Oh no! The sweetest pipe is very well tarred up, almost to constriction. Clean pipes are for lightweights.
@@DonnyHooterHoot yea i love the taste of tar and sucking on bacteria
@@DonnyHooterHoot if you say so. Keep on smoking that low grade rope. You still measure your $10 bag of weed by the finger?
If you want the truest flavor you need to vaporize. It tastes similar to how it smells in the bag
Worked perfectly for me even using 50% alcohol! Took no time at all. Crystal clear and good as new 👍🏽
It's so much nicer smoking through a clean pipe.
Same here
50% alcohol? What were you using?
You really needed a video for this... Maybe your mind isn't strong enough to smoke 😂
This method worked perfectly. I forgot what my pipe looked like when it was new. So just wash all your worries away with this effortless and easy way.
also running hot water in a sink then letting pipe sit in it is also a great starting point! get some stuff broke up and moving around
One of the most practicle and useful videos on youtube. Thanks.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PIPE WHERE CAN I FIND ONE? It’s beautiful
It was just from our local smoke shop. Stoked you like it :)
@aPotforPot can I use 3% peroxide in sub for rubbng alcohol I don't hslvr sny rubbing alcohol handy

Man I've been blazing for nearly 15 years now, always been on blunts and bongs. Only just got a lil glass pipe and I'm loving it for at the desk related activities. Quick and easy. Can really control my levels as well compared to blunts at least.
It's also a much more efficient method of smoking. I rarely smoke blunts or joints. I just see money going up in smoke when I watch them burn.
I'm ANTI blunt... The tobacco wrap put my pal back on the ciggs. The bowl/bubbler/bong conserves your reserve~ the smaller the bowl, the longer your bag lasts😊
@@petehurley2889 I used to have smallskin blunts with rizla, no tobacco. That's fine. It's like the same as 3 bowls. You're right about it lasting. The only issue I'm finding is it's becoming quite habitual already. Whatever I'm doing I find myself reaching for the bowl. Gives you so little compared to a packed blunt that I find I'm doing it all the time to "top myself up" for whatever I'm doing.
Blunts are the least lazy way to smoke lol
@@petehurley2889 I'm from England, blunts here are just rizla and herb, no tobacco

That stuff does work great for pieces that may be to fragile to shake up, or for intricate percs and things of that sort, but 9/10 times salt and alcohol are all you need. You can always put your pieces in boiling water first too, then do the salt and alcohol method.
I'll just paybthe 7$ for another bowl.
It’s the same thing this guy just showed you.
Thank you so much for this. I will try this today! I've been using vinegar or alcohol, and it works a little, but not very well. Have a great week!
this worked so good it cleaned out my pipe completely and now she’s good as new only took me about 10 minutes
Want to know a cheaper way that works in a matter of 20 sec and it's completely clean ? And that's if it's ten times as big and dirty!
@@KpdproblemsDo tell.
I was low on alcohol so mixed in about the same amount of fingernail polish remover. So half fingernail polish remover, half alcohol. My pipe (Metal Chamber Pipe) hadn't been cleaned.... oh I have had it about 20 years and it was well used when I got it, lol. So it was super dirty. I cleaned a ton of gunk from it first and yeah, it was super dirty. So I did as you suggested with the remover mixed in and let it soak for a couple of hours to be sure. I am happy to say It is so clean now it does not have a spec of black anywhere. I just rinsed in hot water and cleaned a lil with cu-tips and even the tips hardly had any black after rinsing and cleaning. So great advise, works perfectly and has gave the ol pipe many more years of use. :)
I clicked on this out of curiosity, only to discover it’s the EXACT method I’ve been doing for a couple of decades! I would definitely suggest if there’s a lot of resin then try and clear it out first, just whatever you can, trust me that is VERY helpful. Additionally, try and get the 91% isopropyl alcohol.
The pieces I have that are jammed packed with resin. I soak in Simple Green for a day or so. The resin comes off in big chunks. Then I finish with iso & salt. The Simple green is reusable as well. The stuff sold at smoke shops is similar to Simple Green mixed with iso and salt.
@@ericdunthorne1981 nope garbage. Just tell me that obviously I'm smarter than you and I'll tell you
I don't smoke but I do however have an awesome glass weather gage that has a long thin spout and a potbellied center area that are both very hard, if not impossible to clean as I use it as a vessel for plant slips in my window and algae grows inside.
Thank you very much for this tip! I'm looking forward to trying it.
This also works with nail polish remover if you dont have rubbing alcohol! Just tried it and it cleaned like a dream!
Acetone works wonderful
only thing i hate about using acetone/nail polish remover is the left over smell residue. not sure if its bad to inhale with the smoke tho.
@@kluneberg8952 I made sure to generously run the thing under as much as possible till I was sure it was all off. I used non acetone I believe.
😢then you'll be tasting that when you smoke
I was looking for someone who tried it with acetone thanksss!!
Yup, this method has been around for years and it works great.
Does it work in metal stems in bongs? Thanks
@@boxerblvd3514 It should as long as you rinse it well and dry it afterwards.
@charlesbowers8112 Thank you🙂
@charlesbowers8112 I feel so stupid I thought it was metal. Nope glass just really needed to be cleaned. 🤣🤪
Yeah it's how we used to clean coffee pots at the gas station back in the day. That was actually a pretty good job, no decisions to make, just clean the place and make sure the till is right at the end of the shift. My first job, 4.25 and hour!
I've done this but with only alcohol ... it got clean but not 100% ... I never tried it with salt though ... I'll try that next time. Thanks for the tip. ✌❤
thanks for reminding me to clean the broken glass stuck behind the endless amount of residue man👍🏻
This method works like magic
adding a drop of blue Dawn dishsoap makes it even better
Man, I used to do this years ago but somehow forgot about it. Stupid short term memory loss! Definitely going back to it. Thanks!
You can also put it in a pan of hot water for a few minutes and the resin comes right out. I have used this method with glass bongs with alc. & rocksalt and it does work well for that.
Worked like a charm. A lot quicker then boiling it.
You seen that video too(boiling it) 😄 🤣

You can just put the salt and a tablespoon of alcohol inside, hold your thumbs over the holes and shake it. Less supplies, less messy and faster

Sea salt and Vinegar works great as well
I'll have to try that. I like to use heat too and that's a tad dangerous with alcohol.
Many thanks, good sir. It’s been said (by me) that a clean pipe is a good friend. Slàinte mhòr!
I had a HEAVILY funked up and difficult to clean ornate piece... I used 91% and mortons kosher salt. It worked WAY easier than any of the other ways I've tried. I didn't get it 100% but you gotta understand - this thing was FUNK... I bet if I did a fresh baggie of salt / iso, and let it sit for an hour, it'd have come out perfect.
Note - I can't get pokers in there at all - but I did blow it out with compressed air - lotsa chunks flying out the carb, made a huge mess but I did that part outside of course, in the grass.
I might try acetone next time, I've got a lot more of that, and somebody else suggested nail polish remover which is basically acetone ...
use kosher salt. Get it directly inside the pipe. like pour it straight into it. You dont need a whole lot maybe like half a teaspoon. Then plug up the holes with your fingers or and fill the pipe halfway with alcohol. Then shake it for a few minutes being careful to not let the alcohol leak out. The whole purpose of the salt is to scrub off all that nasty ass tar. I've tried wrapping up the pipe real tight in lots saran wrap to block off the holes and it works really good. This meathod is kind of stupid with the plastic bag and just dumping fine salt into a bag. The big salt crystals in the kosher salt will knock all that tar right out if you shake it long enough.
@@jonnie2badYeah I used kosher salt, and I didn't just let it sit there, I sloshed it around quite a bit, but not a lot of violent shaking. Your way probably would work better, I just didn't want the sticky residue all over my hands - I was out of disposable gloves.
I've got an ultrasonic cleaner now, and a method to keep the ultrasonic from getting hammered with funk. Basically I fill the tank with distilled water, then put a bag with the cleaning solution and parts (or whatever) in there, with the top above the surface of the water in the tank. Haven't tried it with a pipe yet, but thats coming soon!
I might try alcohol and salt
Bro it’s like new. It works thank you
I didn’t have any alcohol so I used acetone and salt and it work like a charm and very quick
Acetone is a way better solvent for this use, but it is way more expensive than rubbing alcohol, and way more flammable.
I used alcohol for years, now I use salt an acetone, cleans your glass really well.
Don't get acetone on you much. Gets obsorbed through the skin and right into your kidneys where it stays forever until it kills them or gives them cancer
I usually boil mine. I'm definitely gone try this one. Thanks.
same here i boil mine too and saves money haha
Never heard of using salt…wonder what it does chemically extra beyond the alcohol solvent on an oil-based substance like cannabis? I’ve used 90% alcohol solely for my smoking devices and glad others are discovering, using and sharing such a simple process.
I found that filling the entire pipe w/salt, and submersing it in enough alcohol to cover it completely~ let it sit for 3 hours😮; no repeating is needed~ a real hot water rinse ... and a clean alcohol rag to buff the tacky feel from the pipe.
I've been doing the bag/isopropyl for years. I'll add salt next time to give that a try.
Awesome from the dollar store works the best and cheapest and doesn't harm the glass
I was told about this method recently to clean my bong. I was out of salt, so I just dumped a bit of 91% rubbing alcohol i and shook it for a few. Came out clean as a whistle.
I've been doing this exact method for years. I thought I invented it lol I didn't realize other people knew about this. ✌️
Skip the salt, use 90% Iso or higher. Let it sit for a few hours to overnight. Rinse in hot water. Repeat if necessary. Pro tip: Have two bowls at home so you can use one while waiting for the other to get clean.
I Like your Pro Tip . And I Agree
Yep. Thank you for the reminder! It was time for a cleaning!!
I do this all the time... but I also add a very small drop of blue Dawn dish soap
Man, watching this stoned, and zone out. Good video
Weed prefers the wooden pipe, a perfect recipe developed thousands of years ago. The idea is to occasionally harvest its resin so the cleanup is less agonizing. Had mine for 14 years now five bucks! And the flavor keeps
That’s smart I’ve been using a corncob pipe
Now that you mention it, pipe tobacco is almost always smoked from wooden pipes. It stands to reason that wooden pipes are just good for smoking.
Teek wood?
Might be a silly question, but I've been at it for many years now and yet I've never gotten around to picking up a wood pipe... Is there any particular wooden pipe you'd recommend? Any particular type of wood that's best for weed? I don't smoke tobacco anymore so it'd only be for weed. Thanks in advance to you and anyone else kind enough to throw some recommendations my way 🍻

Just did this. Hadn’t cleaned it very well since I got it and needed two cycles, but it definitely works great.
Does the salt act as an abrasive because it won’t absorb in alcohol?
yep

Ooh using a ziploc bag PERFECT!!!
This is what weed production factory/greenhouses use to clean their equipment
Isopropyl alcohol
I clean my 5 pieces like this once a week so I can have a clean bowl everyday. It tastes better and I know it's mostly clean. However, the area under the bowl never comes completely clean and that drives me nuts. Pipe cleaners are too straight, cotton swabs are not long enough and too big to push thru bowl hole. Would boiling do the trick?
Damn, I have the same problem, I spent hours today trying to clean this area and it’s not 100% clean yet 😬
Wrap some tape around the bowl and pour the sea salt straight into the pipe.
@@TTBTechResumesI'll have to try this. Have the same issue. This still works great to anyone and everyone reading this. 90% of my pipe looked brand new quickly.
Denture cleaner does a decent job. You may have to do it acouple of times though to get most of it. Fixodent or Polident denture cleaning tablets work. Heat the water up first (not to boiling) then I dropped the broken up tablet into the glass bong.
You can put the alcohol and salt directly into the piece. Cover the holes with fingers/hands, then run the outside of the pie e where the resin is stuck under hot water, shake, and repeat until clean. The hot water will make the resin easier to remove.
It's why I use raw rolling papers as an inner wallpaper if you will and it acts like a filter but when cleaning you can just use a paper clip grip on to the paper inside of the bowl scrap away the resin like nothing without chemicals
Works on one hitters too. Mine is brass, I just put it in the bag & let it soak for a little bit then rinse it off.
Every time I have tried cleaning a pipe, or bong with salt and rubbing alcohol, this is the outcome: I pour out some dirty, salty rubbing alcohol, and the smoking device is still filthy. And it doesn't matter how much I shake it or for how long. What does work, is custom making tools out of kilt pins by bending them with pliers, and scraping out the pipe, pulling the stuff out through one of the holes. It can take up to 3 different scraping tools for one pipe, and some pipes are too small inside and can't be scraped out.
I've got one even better, for all you motor heads out there that have an ultrasonic cleaner. All I do is bring the water temp up to 100 degrees or so in your ultrasonic, put pipe in a small zip lock with water to cover the pipe along with a few drops of Dawn dish soap. place zip lock in cleaner for 10 minutes or so, pull and rinse. looks like brand new. the glass actually looks brighter & polished when done with no effort on your part.
Do you rinse it out with water after so you can use it? Im scared for it to catch fire or something cus of the alcohol
Works every time.
Thankyou so much!!! I will definitely try this soon💚
Wow! This video was extremely helpful, thank you! 🙏🏼
Hey, I used this method twice because the first time didnt seem to get everything out, and its still not completely clean. Is this normal? Its MUCH cleaner than it was but there is a bit of resin stuck on the bottom of the bowl still
ut the salt and alcohol directly into the pipe. Cover the holes with your finger and thumb, then shake vigorously.
Sounds like you need to keep a tighter cleaning schedule for your pipe. I clean mine once a week to manage once a day use. Increase cleanings for more frequent/heavier use.

No worries, we are here to help :)
Acetone. The only answer. I used alcohol and salt until I used acetone. It's like the difference between your garden hose and a hot water pressure washer with soap/degreaser. No comparison. Hilariously better. Brakleen works really well, too, but takes a long time to be safe again.
Any idea how it compares to "Grunge-off" from back in the day (70's - 80's) ? I've been looking for Grunge-off or its equivalent for decades!
Thank You! Cleaned out my B.T. bottle in 5min!
Can we throw the metal wire filter into that solution too? No, right? I think the filter would rust.
I've been using this bag technique for years. Except I double bag the soaking alcohol.
Does this work with regular alcohol like vodka?
Does 70% Alkohol surface disinfectant work too? Cause its 4x less expensive than rubbing alcohol
I scrape mine carefully with a pick and get the resin out, mix that with the keef and save it for the dry seasons.
If you don't have rubbing alcohol melted margarine or butter with salt works just as good although I've never used a plastic bag.
So can you still smoke the res!! If you drain the water in a homemade strainer and catch the res and dry it out
Trying this now!!! Thank you :D
you could also dry that alcohol and then pack pall the soot into a little bal, put it back in the pipe and smoke it again. :)
Also, i save the dirty alcohol to use again. You can reuse it several times. The resin mostly sinks as well leaving mostly alcohol above it.
I clean my bong and rig in the same fashion. Everclear works too.
Beautifully done!
Only thing I worry about is not getting all of the rubbing alcohol out and starting a small flame in my face lol. But nothing else is working really well so I guess I'll give this a shot!
I LOVEEEE that piece!!!!
Plain old water works great too.
you’re my hero
If u bubble up dawn dish soap and keep digging it in and letting the soap water it'll clean it. Let sit in clean water after. Might taste like soap first 2 packs but it goes away
& I think boiling them works too. Will shatter certain glass
A medicine bottle woks better than a platic bag. Let you shake it more vigorously. Also time. You can just let it soak in the alcohol over night and the resin will dissolve. No need to shake nothing.
This video should have more likes then it does 😮 wow
I did this with hydrogen peroxide and salt and its working wonderfully likes its brand new
I find acetone and salt works best. you really have to clean it with dawn soap after though
I got tired of buying alcohol and or acetone (acetone is much better to be honest , as long as its pure ) , but yah i just got a ultrasonic cleaner , it works wonders on all my glass , the key is to preheat the cleaning solution
I used to add a dash of milk to the bong water, it coats the glass so residue doesn't build up nowhere near as much. Just be sure to change water/milk often & don't add too much milk otherwise u end up with a bubbly milkshake lol
91% rubbing alcohol plus course salt. Shake and rinse! Easy peasy!
No need for the salt
I use the same things but I just let it soak over night, a d I do this with my metal and glass and ceramic pipes, works like magic.
Costco sells a 95% isopropyl alcohol, that is the best to use and works like a charm , don’t really even need salt with it
I been cleaning my pipes this way since the 1980s.
bro send me a pipe from the 80s i need a vintage one to smoke out of they hella cool
Hell yea, it worked like a charm. Thx.
an additional step is to wash in the sink with water and a little bit of dish soap, it will make your artwork really shine and get rid of those foggy areas.
