Let me add myself to list of people helped by you and your buddy. Great video. Thank you so much - our microwave is installed over the range so replacement would have been expensive. I have a pricey Bosch microwave - but with the keypad off it is identical to the Fridgidare you repaired. Advice to others trying this fix - take lots of photos before removing wiring harnesses from keypad to make sure you put them back on right, especially the one with two black wires (one thinner and one thicker). I had the microwave three years - and the salesman at the appliance store tried to sell me the same unit when my wife called to complain. He said the problem was that we did not replace the filters often enough (LMAO) .
Thank you for pointing the door issue. Before you start dismantling anything try cleaning back of the door and hooks going into the two openings with soap to remove grease built up. It worked for me 😊. No more intermittent stoping.
Thanks man!! I have the same microwave and it's been driving me crazy, it keeps blowing the fuse that is behind the control panel. I replaced 3 of them in the past 2 weeks.. so Im ordering these switches tonight !! And more fuses too cause I ran out of them lol
Great video, and extremely helpful. I have a similar Frigidaire (not the Gallery model) that came installed on my new house 5 years ago that a few times tripped the breaker when opening while it was running. Happened again today, but as soon as I reset the breaker and restarted, it tripped again. Then it would instantly trip when I'd reset it until after a few resets now the unit is dead which is most likely a burnt fuse inside. I plan to replace the switch holder as I've read that's the main issue since the latch eventually wears it down and causes misalignment of the switches and many others report new switches not fixing their issue, but the new holder did the trick. It's just a bad overall design or cheap parts Frigidaire uses. I'll get some switches to have just in case any are bad. But your video is saving me from having to figure out how I was going to have to remove the unit from where it's mounted over my range. Had no idea until your video it can all be done where it's mounted at. Disassembly seems very straight forward and quick. Thank you again!
Good guide, thank you. Although replacing the switches on my very similar unit didn't solve the problem of the breaker tripping when you open the door while it's running. Oh well, I do have a new one in the box....
Not all switches are the same. Before you remove and installl then Make sure the n/o and n/c are where they belong. Otherwise you’ll have the switching out of order like yours.
Was hoping to see a more close up of removing the vent as I cant get mine off to get the door off so I can replace the Latch. Any tips would be appreciated
I replaced the switches twice without issue, but it is possible I was just ignorant of that step. Looking at a few things online it looks like it might not be a bad idea. Seems like it would be safer that way.
How long does it take for these capacitors to loose their charge? My microwave has been unplugged for a few days now. Do you think the capacitor would have lost their charge by now?
Much thanks for the super helpful video. I have the same microwave as you and this was very helpful. Just one question, when I removed the switches from the housing I unfortunately did not mark them so now I'm not sure which switch is the normally closed one, I know it is one of the two on the bottom but not sure which one...... do you recall by chance? Thanks!
Unfortunately, I do not. After replacing the switches a few times we ended up switching out the microwave altogether too, so I can't take a look anymore. Hope all goes well.
Hey, not sure if it’s the same problem, but the lights stay on once I close the door. Plus, the microwave doesn’t turn on when I press start. When I close the door, it’s still loose and doesn’t seem to close securely. Do you think it’s the switches that have to be changed out like in your video. Thanks!!!
That sounds like a different problem, especially if the door doesn't close properly. For me, the door would close fine, but the breaker would trip when I ran the microwave because the switches were bad. Everything still sealed fine though. I would guess you have a different problem.
Our microwave is a Frigidaire Gallery but slightly different. However, the switches seem to be the same, (and why wouldn't they be?). I ordered the switches... Then I realized that the top switch wasn't holding in place... The switch seemed to be okay, but it was loose in the frame... SOOOOO... I shut off the breaker and got a flashlight, (torch to youse in the UK, hahaha). Pulled the connectors... They have little keepers and so I had to use a dental took to release the keepers... photographing all the while to make sure I could mate the right connectors male/female. After much sweat and getting another flashlight, I wedged in some thick Marie Calendar's spaghetti box paper under them, (Amazon didn't seem to have the same switch bracket). I will reinstall and see how it goes. Hey to the little buddy!
Great video. I need to replace my switches on the same unit as yours because periodically the microwave fuse blows upon opening the door. Question: What pack of switches did you buy and is a 3 pack of switches sold on amazon will work with the Frigidaire?
I'm glad the video helped. I wasn't able to find a 3-pack on Amazon, but links for the switches I used for the model I have are below: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B082HZ1H47 smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07789LPPG
@A Hand at Work The 3 OEM switches 1 Top 1middle 1 bottom OEM switches from Frigidaire are about 1 hundred dollars so looking for parts that will work. Thanks again.
Hi ! So I am just wondering I can change the door switches without taking the microwave out of the wall? It looks like you did not take yours out of the wall. I appreciate your video. It was very educational.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! At least for this model of microwave with standard cabinet depth you can replace the switches without having to take it out of the wall. As long as the top just above the door is accessible. That should be the case in most cases because the microwave is deeper than a standard cabinet depth.
I found the switches on Amazon. Here are the links for the model I have: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B082HZ1H47 smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07789LPPG Hope that helps. Good luck!
One of the worse How To Videos I have ever seen! Unfortunately it is the same microwave as mine and might have been very helpful it the kid on the counter wasn't blocking what you are doing. Why do some parents think an already distressed homeowner would rather watch a reality show than someone just showing them how to make the needed repairs? What a waste.

Just got it done today. Where would we be without RUclips! Thanks for posting this!

I just got mine done today. Thank you for your video. Save several hundreds dollar and inconvenience to replace the microwave 😊
Awesome duo 😃
Hi I replaced all door switches but now once door closes it turns on. Any idea ?
Didn't see you discharge the capacitor before, is it necessary when replacing door switches?
I replaced the switches twice without issue, but it is possible I was just ignorant of that step. Looking at a few things online it looks like it might not be a bad idea. Seems like it would be safer that way.

@@ahandatwork1767 watched another video and figured it out. All back together and working like new. Thanks again for this post!!
Great fixed the problem: be sure to label door switch wires for re-attachment!!
That's a great idea!

Did you ever find the problem. I have the same microwave and light stay on when door is closed and it will not turn on
Following up for the same problem, seems that door latch is very loose
What part numbers are these switches?

How to know which switch goes in which outlet.
The switches are slightly different. I just compared them to the ones I took off originally.
Nice video, where can I shop for these cheap parts ?

Yeah, definitely, he should kick out his kid to get you the best help.
