- Once again we could watch the mechanic Gauthier Verdonck from the World Tour Team Trek Segafredo building the brand new 2023 Trek Domane (It was actually not a bike for a specific rider, it was build for a Team Sponsor). Who has paid close attention could see that Team Trek Segafredo uses the model already since the spring classics. On September 8, 2022, the Domane was now officially presented to the public. The frame is a complete new development, it is lighter, stiffer and more aerodynamic. All cables run completely inside the frame and only come out at the headset. All the details of the new frame and the equipment as it is used by Team Trek Segafredo in the video. Have fun watching.
I work now 6 years as mechanic in a shop and also for teams and I do this with every bike that I have to build. I’m used to do this and you know these days with quick wheel changes sometimes it can make a difference
Woooaaahh the smoothness of the shifting is so satisfying!
La bici de carreras de mis sueños.
Magnífico video. Gracias
Beautiful bike build…… some lucky lady OR male with all those small extra details 👌🏻😍 fair to say bike building is a art form 🤔
I ate my lunch | pre-ride watching this and super excited for my ride today :) so satisfying 🥺💆♂️
Very nice, very professional. Beautiful bike.
wow my favorite brand and model. amazing!!!
That´s amazing !!
The attention of detail Road Bike Channel mechanics put into their build is on another level! Best bike builder on RUclips, definitely!
Thanks a lot!
Gauthier is on another level. Trek-Segafredo is lucky to have him.
I think I saw a tattoo “love”. One part of it, it goes to the bike definitely. I don’t like road bikes, but… this was a dream.
Love your tool box
I like all the part of a dream build... but I love in particular when they make the adjustment on the SRAM shift, with the front derailleur and his "robotic" sound 😍😍
This is poetry.
Pro-mechanics really know there way around a bike really well, he's made it look like a walk in the park. But I know for a fact, this requires skills and years of practice.
...Was beautiful to watch.
Easy to know way around, I also build my own wheels
It took me less than a year to be able to build a road bike from the frame up on my own and I have a small handful of frame-up builds under my belt now.
My first build for my own customer is a Specialized S-Works Roubaix (fifth-gen, the first one with Future Shock), then the bikes as follow:
•Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 with Shimano Dura-Ace R9120 (I'm one of the first few in my country to build a Tarmac SL7 with a mechanical groupset)
•Specialized Allez Sprint Disc (first-gen)
•Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6 (rim)
•2021+ Trek Émonda SLR
•Pinarello Dogma 65.1
•My bike (my first new frameset in 10 years of riding)
•Winspace T1500 Disc
@@yonglingng5640 I did mountain bike and 2 road bikes, I built all wheels myself too, looking to go emonda frame and build up for £2800 as sram instead of Shimano 105
I tip may hat to you both. It's a very patient thing to do and can lead to frustrations, mistakes and broken parts.
I know how to do certain things on a bike like bleed brakes and index mechanical gears, but a full build is out my ability.
@@tajulislam1522 i reckon you got the most difficult parts down. the rest is more up to watching youtube tutorials, having the right tools and a general understanding of mechanical working... but i also understand its not for everyone.
YESSIR !!! Very nice build!
what a beauty
Just hypnotic. 👀👀
Awesome & Thanks :)
DREAM BIKE FOR ME!
awesome!
Amazing…….😍
Top !👏👏👏.
🇧🇷
Those yellow patches are gopping! )-;
Que trek mas hermosa. Tengo una 2021. Cambios mecanicos
Well done
Good job
Magnifique
Nice...!😊
Thats a great looking bike!! Love my Trek, 🥰
#RobbArmstrong
Quá tuyệt vời.
I don't like Trek bikes very much, but one thing I appreciate is that they have stem+handlebar instead of those silly intergrated cockpits.
Yeah, not the worst idea! it's pretty much hidden away and you're still able to swap a stem or a few spacers 👍
I am going to build emonda with sram rival 22 but might use some force 22 so no expensive carbon on drive system for daily bike, looking at stem and handlebars that allow internal cable all the way too
@@roadbikechannel what compression fitting was used? I got one on current 6.7kg road bike but it slides so steering gains play
And the wait continues for that "Rim bike" build 🤔
i think you'll be long dead before you see a new one
Yeah, it might be a while... there are less and less out there
I dream i have in my hands these bike
Loved this one (mostly as I'm an avid fan of the RSL Domane).
Two things for the tech, protective eyewear around Dot fluid and mask up when cutting carbon steerers.
And only click once with torque wrenches.
It's funny how people have no problem with our dying planet? And show concern with "possible " irritants! We are insane!
@@lizzydog5728 I ride just under 50km a day to work and back to do my bit. Dot fluid in your eye or ingestion of carbon fibre is not to be sniffed at.
This has nothing to do with racecycling, this is a piece of art. I'm born almost 60 years too early.
Frameset costs 5000€ and you have to recut the through axle threads? appaling!
I know right!!!!
It’s not like there’s a small cleanup happening either. That’s a LOT of material being removed from those threads.
ABSOLUTE JUNK
The rethreading is the teams routine since they are using power tools to insert the axels. It's just to make sure the axle goes in smoothly during a quick wheel swab at a race.
@@roadbikechannel to be clear: i am not against a mechanic running a tap through the threads. But you have to wonder why the tap is actually cutting so much material out of there. Same if you would show resurfacing the disc brakes mont and you would have to cut off more than a hair of material, just not a sign of the high quality frame i expect for the 5k price point.
love my bije Fuji 2009
That's beautiful... I guess it comes from experience to be able to build almost entire bike with using torque wrench only on your stem :) Maybe Carbon is indeed stronger than I thought...
He used one on the bars to the stem and also the shifters to the bars.
This kid knows his business.
Yes please

I want one.
My next bike 🤞
The technological evolution of two wheels is fascinating and unstoppable, I like the classic ones but the difference is abysmal in terms of aesthetics and efficiency
Good Perfctp
What grease or past do you add to the rotary clamp?
Do you take requests? I'd love to see a No.22 built with SRAM, but any groupset would do.
Um sonho 😑quem me dera comprar uma bike dessa
The Mechanic is as gorgeous as the bike is!
Hi!! Watched this video before and other you have. The building look so great, even better then other high quality builds.
May I ask what handlebar tape is it on this bike? Would be great to know : )
Thx
/ Karl
Que maravilla !!!! Me la regalais????
fast and brutal, but still delicate whare it needs to be. not hes first bike build XD
🤩🤩🤩
🤗
They shorted the stack by 4 cm on the RSL model. So is it still a Domane?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thanks 🤗
Those handlebars are crispier than grandma’s cookies.
🤣
Excelente👍👍👍🇦🇷
hos about the new Canyon ultimate?? make a video please 🙏
Slick looking bike. Own two ProjectOne Domanes -- 2013 & 2016 -- both still going strong.
Not sure about the bright yellow stickers though. I'd probably opt for something else.
Looks like Trek still has Iso-Speed on the back end by the seat post. What about on the front end? Didn't see it.
you're right, it's just at the back. And really nice bikes you got there 🤩
Stupid expensive bikes.
Oh my gosh, you had to cut the head stem, and carve the threads into the forks. I would be scared to death to make a multi thousand dollar mistake :) Great video.
I want that🥺
chulisima
Do you know the chainring size ?
😯 Where can I find this ratcheting 8mm that slides over the hydraulic cable?!
Can we have a Trek Segafredo (team colour) build for the Madone ?
Unfortunately all the Madones were already built when we had the chance to visit the Trek Segafredo Service course 😒
They get those bottom bracket issues sorted out yet?
NIce build! 7.7kg isn't bad. What size is the frame?
£7000 for a 105 Di2 SLR 🤩
0:29 why did you remove it? Isnt it useful for installing housing ?
HI, Brilliant ! Please music title ??? Thx
Had me till the bar tape!
No downtube storage on the RSL... Where do they put their Skittles? 😛
their slav- i mean domestiques carry them
Downtube storage is not exactly the go to solution during a race I guess ;)
That is a HEAVY frame. Shockingly heavy for pro use.
7.8kg full build... yikes!
@@Carftymk Yes, that is where the bike industryis is heading with heavier bikes, so in the future they can reset the market selling even more expensive bikes because grams shaved.
Also in fairness the domane frames have those isospeed things built into the frame that add a fair bit. But yeah the industry "trend" is now to build bikes that hit in and around the 6.8 limit without additional weights being added
@@markmuldoon7044 the 2023 just ditched the heavy-ish (it wasnt that heavy imo) iso-speed, so this frame doesn't have it
@@Carftymk didnt they just ditch the front one though? I think the rear is still on it. Slightly different design though
@ 1:10 which is this handlebar? @roadbikechannel
What’s the difference between the RSL and SRL frames?
I assume you mean RSL and SLR? RSL has the same race geometry as Madone and Emonda, and 3mm less tire clearance than the SLR. The SLR has the more upright endurance geometry that the Domane is known for. The RSL also doesn’t have the internal frame storage while the SLR does.
What are the handlebars

Nice Job.. How much?
Wish i had money, you know
Where we can buy this FRAME?
They should sell it at Lidl.
Saan makkabili medyo murang roadbike?
Why did you put on the bar tape the opposite direction?
BICICLETA DE RICO EU JÁ MAIS TERIA CONDIÇÕES DE COPRAR UMA DESSAS QUE LASQUEIRA
that electrical tape is worth 1000$
nice work on building and taking video. I am only mentioning to about 'bike' which costs one of the highest price but 7.7 kg with top components is just too much!
Its not that much lighter from previous model
It's 2022 7.7 kg is the new 6.8 kg
I expected lighter given the parts selection. The bare frame weighs nearly 2x my Aethos frame.
Too much for who? The bike was designed for Paris-Roubaix in consultation with Fabian Cancellara, who then won the event on a Domane, and the 2021 and 2022 women winners were riding this model…
@@danielakerman8241 yes they won paris roubaix in women's race but it is heavy. I know fabian cancellara developed domane with trek which is former generation and this one is heavy with top components period
what size is that bike pls?
Anyone running this frame ? Just curious what’s the largest tire you can get away with .
38mm
02:46 what is this step called, it's like punching holes with a drill?
He's rethreading the dropouts from the frame.
The term is called thread chasing.
It never size to surprise me how heavy this new, "top of the line" , expensive models really are. My 6-7 year old Colnago C-59 frame is about 990 grams, my fork is also about 100 grams lighter than this. Is it really progress?
I assume fork weight to be higher as well due to the load on the flat mount during breaking with discs. Other than that, disc brakes are known to increase wheel weight (torque taken by the spokes), and the Domane has Isospeed
I think it's about aero dynamics.
@@learneverythingwithme9560 aerodynamics, disc brakes, deep section wheels, batteries (for electronic groupsets) etc.
weight doesn't matter -- it's been proven time and time again. It only matters in hill-climb events where you're ascending a slope (and not descending). It's been shown countless times that if you're rolling on flat ground, or mixed terrain, weight just isn't that important a factor.
I bought the 2023 sl5 and it is heavy as fuck. My 2012 madone is way lighter and not only that the seat post clamp or “wedge” is defective and out of stock. Stay away from the domane it’s straight garbage!!!!!!
I am interested in 1 bike like this, how do I contact you?
it'd be hilarious at 5:03 if the cut part fell on the top tube and the just cut area scratched it. compared to builds i saw before, no masks worn. that stuff is bad for you if you inhale it and it's fine when you're cutting.
