Great choice of having Macrom as your renovator, Loo.
He had renovated for me many years ago, and to say, it's not going to be a job done and forget job.
Importantly, he will be there when you need him.
    The after sale is important!
He helped so much in taking care of my property in JB during the 2 years of MCO period, saving me some sleepless nights.
    Well done!

After a while the euphoria of living in a bigger house wears off. There’s only so much space that one needs, especially when you are retired

I'm facing that right now. But for me, I knew that issue way before getting the house but as you know, the min for landed housing for foreigners is RM1 million and my case was 1.5yrs ago. There are no houses prices at just RM1 million but way more. And for that, they are usually 3 stories high and at least 5 bedrooms or more. I managed to find one that is only 4 bedrooms and just 2 stories. But yes, depending on how fastidious one is, I spent most of my weekends cleaning the house. LOL....

@@marktan8074 Isnt that the irony of life. I know of rich couple who built big good class bungalow to live with their kids. When the kids grew up, got married and moved out, they feel so lonely with all the spaces and ended up selling the big bungalow and moved to an apartment.

Mr. Loo, l bought a new landed property in Malaysia. There is not much renovation to do, as everything is brand new and fresh. There is no need to change wiring, titles, lightning, etc.

Problem with wooden parquet flooring is later on the glue gives way & the pieces of wood will come out.

Real parquet wood flooring are known to be very durable. my first 4room master bedroom had it and it was a resale I was second/3rd owner so it's been almost decades. I only did polishing before move in and it lasted me 8yrs before I sold. Totally enjoyed the "cool" solid feel!

Water tank on top the roof is part of Malaysian landed property not because of irregular water supply.

Does Singapore Landed house have similar rules? Just curious

    • @leeaaron7856
      @leeaaron7856 3 месяца назад +1

I think the purpose of the water tank at the roof is to ensure sufficient water pressure is present in the 2nd level of the house.

    • @marktan8074
      @marktan8074 3 месяца назад

There's also usually 2 taps that get direct supply from the mains. They are usually located in the kitchen. You'd know since the water pressure is markedly different from the rest of the house.

From your videos, seems you had travel much everywhere, but most Singaporeans don't have the luxury to own a semi d or bungalow there. Great to do what you want if you can. Don't mind others. Live your life 😊as long as you are happy with it.

The addition on the 2nd floor, the side fronting the street is quite plain. The small window on the left and large window on the right may look as the front facade of the home.

Thank goodness I can avoid 95% of the cost and complexity of what Mr Loo is doing as I bought new. Buying second hand is too much cost, complexity and time, 80% of his cost is spent rehabilitating the house, the other 20% of his cost is changing the layout SMH, he brought all this complexity upon himself and now want to show you how complex it is.
Usually this level of renovation is done when owners have lived 20 to 30 years and want to re-cycle their house, then worth the trouble and cost. There are also many much better condition second hand houses for sale and in Desa Terbrau which is actually better location than Austin heights.
The only lesson learnt here is to not do what Mr Loo did!

Hi Mr. Loo, Does your contractor take on the role of “interior designer” as well? It seems like no interior designer was appointed from your video. Would you recommend that people appoint an interior designer, or can the owner and contractor provide input as the interior designer?

Is the JB house freehold? Is it on Malay land? If not, will it be possible in future that the land the house sits on - becomes retrospectively designated as Malay land? Why Mr Loo needs to "renovate" the house? Is it not supposed to be everything done and complete internally - BEFORE he bought it? If there are any structural alterations to the house, Architects and Professional Engineers should be involved. With all the required approvals from Malaysia Govt agencies. Instead Mr Loo is talking to a renovation contractor foreman ???!!! As I see it, there is nothing wonderful about this adventure in JB landed house. Has Mr Loo checked who actually owns the development? Don't get shocked one day the Malaysia bank tells Mr Loo to get out within 2 weeks - because the developer had pledged all the properties to the Bank for a loan.

Mr. Loo, Your House Renovation that changes the Facade seems like a slap to the original Architect.
Hopefully, the Renovated House will blend, asthetically' with the neighbourhood.
Do make the effort to climb to the roof, and inspect the details.
Unless You have unlimited Budget to constantly maintain, repair building issues, ..it will be a metter of time before the following appears,..
    1. Rodents, Insects Infestation
    2. Leaking Roofs, Walls =,..and other internal locations which leaking source is Difficult to trace
    3. Premature Materials Failure (this is extremely common when works are done "fast",..and Really Good Quality materials, hardly exist in the local supply-chain)
Somehow, One get the impression that You are exhibiting the "Loud Singkie Syndrome" (LSS),.. of which some listeners may get the impression that You are boasting too much.
Local Msians either praise You for paying such a High Price for this House / or Curse You, for pushing up the Asking Prices which makes it more difficult for incumbent Buyers to buys such house Type.
Yes, Mount Austin is Vibrant,...but after some time, You Would most likely feel frustrated by the Massive Traffic Congestion towards this area and also within this area.
So, Please Do Emphatise with the incumbents' perspectives.
I Appreciate Your Social Media Influencing efforts, but it is extremely Dangerous of You to over-positive-rant, the Johor Landed Properties.
Too many Landed Property Owners Regret their Purchases, mainly because they become slaves to their houses ( cleaning, maintaining, repairing,..etc.,..) and are too afraid to voice out such - for fear of their properties dropping in Value.
Good Luck, and Do Remember to look back to this clip, say 8 years from today.
    Thank You
    P.S.
Do You Dare to Post Your Property;s Address Here ?,..or PM Me Your Address.
Somehow, I see this Post as Superficial and lack the Attributes of Anticipating Future Problematic Issues
