Would be helpful to be able to see your feet. I have no idea what "up" and "down" mean in this context.

Good God I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was getting a migraine from this non explanation

i believe with tap you're hitting the ground with your foot moving upward whereas with clogging the foot is going downward. my take is that clogging has more of your weight on the back of the foot whereas with tap it's on the front, making clogging a heavier sound, more of a sliding stomp.

Dancing with the step called Waltz Clog with tapping shoes, do you call that tapping?

Traditional American tap is mostly down down.... Fred Astaire tap is up up.. as is competition tap....

We call it rompin' stompin' tap, as opposed to traditional tap.

Sadly, to me, they look too much alike now.
    That's just me.

I thought tapping always starts with the right foot, and clogging always starts on the left as well as the difference in the metal taps.

You can start on any foot the choreographer decides on in tap. It's just usually the right, so everyone remembers.

@@tanyalangille1278 ahhh that's super cool and I never knew that. see I clog competitively and one rule is we always have to start left foot

@@cheyenneadelle5449 interesting that must be a newer rule... when I was a competitive clogger one team I danced on started on right foot and another on left. I could do either but solo I generally started right first.
