- Pianist Sara Davis Buechner performs Antonin Dvorak's Piano Concerto in G minor, opus 33 with the Victoria Symphony and Bernhard Gueller, live at the Royal Theatre in Victoria, B.C., Canada.
Antonín Dvořák's youthful Piano Concerto in G minor, op. 33, has received less attention than his beloved Concertos for Violin and Cello. It was prominently revived in the 1940s by Czech pianist Rudolf Firkušný, himself a friend of Dvořák's son-in-law Josef Suk and pupil of Dvořák's associate Vilém Kurz (who extensively re-wrote sections of the piece, a source of some controversy). Sara Davis Buechner, who studied the work with Firkušný during her years as his Juilliard pupil from 1980 - 84, performs the work in its original version here. Видеоклипы
A very wonderful and underrated pianist. Musical, colorful and passionate-not to mention powerful!
I lost track of how many times I watched this performance. SPECTACULAR!!! 👏👏👏❤️❤️
A brilliant performance of a vastly undervalued concerto by one of the greatest composers of all time. Quite wonderful......
This performance was outstanding. Dvorak was an incredible genius. This concerto and Symphonies 7, 8, and 9 are the best ever written. Thank you for the lovely performance.
Try out his 6th Symphony too. It's also magnificent!
Everything from whatever era is so well played by this wonderful musician is so well thought out I am amazed by her. I love all she does!
Dvorak is romantic-baroque, but he focused more in romantic and nacionalism!
Sara Davis Buechner is one of the finest pianists we have today. Her performance of the very difficult Dvorak Concerto is truly exceptional and this listener enjoyed every minute of it.Everything Buechner plays is well thought out and follows the composer's wishes. A wonderful performance!
She is fantastic in Bartok Piano Concerto n.2 here in RUclips also!
Well....Dvorak didn't write those extra chords for the piano at the end!
And we don't consider it a crime.@@griselidis1
Nor do I!@@paulvandenberg9588
Stunning!
My best friend Andrej Markovic, pianist, talked about you so much! I am so glad that I found you!
A wonderful performance by an outstanding pianist! Bravo!
I used to think only Richter could play Dvořák's concerto right. But this rendition is as good as his in every aspect. Masterful.
Sara Davis Buechner is fantastic in Bartok Piano Concerto n.2 here in RUclips also!
A virtuoso performance without any pounding. Wonderful clarity. A great deal of thought went into every phrase. I wish I could play anywhere near as well as Mm. Buechner.
The orchestra was the right size to keep up the clarity of the work, and the conductor followed her with great sensitivity.

Thanks for posting. A fine performance!
Thank you for posting this wonderful performance!
fantastic - superb - perfection -appreciated much more Dvorak´s composition with your performance - BRAVO.-subscried - thumbs up.
Wow Sara ! Intense but lyrical too, and maybe the two not at the same time ..well, whatever, you pulled it off. Was earlier listening to Richter's recording , which got me hooked on this concerto when hardly anyone was playing it.For me your interpretation is right up there with his. Look forward to hearing your other performances, especially Brahms .
Thank you Matthew! High praise indeed. I had the great fortune to study the work with its greatest interpreter, Rudolf Firkusny. Working with him for 4 years was the highest honor of my musical life.
Great performance. Congratulations to Sara, the orchestra and Maestro Gueller.
Like! Good day!! Dvorak life❤💯!!
BRAVO!!! Incredible Performance!!!!!
Magnificent performance, Sara. I really enjoyed this.
A performance of sensitivity and strength. Lovely control in the second movement, would have liked a little more lightness of tone in the third. A very difficult score to integrate with the orchestra, but here we a treated to a tight enterpretation, a stunning performance, well done all.
It's amazing how I can make everything alive. Brava! And with such a difficult concert
Great! Thanks a lot.
Fantastic! What a musician!

WOW!!!
Great performance. I loved it! Even more important, Rudi would have loved it!! Congrats!!!
Thank you so much, dear Michael!
powerful performance
👍🏻👍🏻
Those flourishes at the end of the coda weren't in the score, were they? Not that I mind. Inspired performance, although the recording engineer might have placed the piano a bit less up front.
Bom Cabedal No. I've heard some pianists play along with the orchestra after the final solo trill, but those solo flourishes at the very end were entirely of the pianist's own improvising - and quite effective, I might add.
@@JAMESLEVEE Very 19th-century approach then. I approve.
These flourishes were added by my teacher Rudolf Firkusny, who later in life did not play them. But I always liked them and feel they work appropriately.
