    I’ve noticed that it’s been smoother for me if I take my Queen out for the split so that the mother hive is fooled into thinking they swarmed. Once they wanna swarm they get stubborn so I simulate a swarm and it keeps them from wanting to swarm

      That’s good thinking. I was considering doing it that way but figured this way I can keep those pallet hives strong and building up and keep pulling frames as needed for split or to equalize. They’re killing the maple flow rn ☺️

    The weatherman is reporting that we are going to have cold weather and snow next week. I have not even thought about making the splits until after next week. If the brood doesn’t have enough bees to keep them warm, they’ll die.

    #dontwearwhitetothebeeyard 🤣🚫🐝🤣 Best hashtag ever🤣Do they make bee suits in different colors? U should make ur own in different colors and patent that idea😁🌈🐝👏Do u have to wash ur beesuit every single time u go out there? Happy 4 years of Beekeeping by the way that is Super cool!🎉🐝🎉How time flies! That is a Lot of bees too I can't imagine how Loud they're buzzing is in real life! Considering how Many there r 7 stings isn't terrible but then again I've only been stung once in my whole life and that's more than enough for me🤣Does it Smell with all that #beepoop ? Well Congrats again on 4 years and Good luck with ur class as Always I wish I could be there but I'm Happy to be Here supporting my Favorite Keeper, seriously Emily I am Always here for U in any way possible, wouldn't wanna be Anywhere else☺️Thanks for another Great video and I will see U in the next one😊✌️👏 #emilyisthebeesknees #beefitbeekeeping #beefitapiary #beefithoney #beefit #beekind #beecommunity #hydrateordiedrate💀 #queenbeeemily👑🐝

    Hey Emily, I found some small plastic number tags and started attaching them on my hive equipment with a semi permanent engraved tag. I just figure markers fade in the sun and its hard to keep up with your colonies when you use disappearing ink.. Some days the bees tear me arse up for no reason because I smell like the bee suit.. If you are migrating your bees, you will also need your contact info in your bee yard in plain sight by regulation.

    Just did 3 walkaway splits last week. I can't believe you have so many hives! I hoping they take with this awesome VA weather.

    Emily, you split those girls the exact same way that I would have but I would probably put mated Queens in the splits 48 hours afterwards. That way they wouldn’t miss a lick and make more honey and you could probably even make a 5 frame nuc from the strongest ones. Good luck!

      Thank ya!! Yes I would have preferred to have queens ready to put in but in all honesty I wasn’t expecting to have to split so soon 🤣 a good thing but made me have to change plans. Kasey grafted 2 weeks ago. Queens should be walking out any day now. So should have mated queens in each one by May 1st 🙂

    Drones are a sign of a healthy colony. I would not call Drones a sign of swarm preparation.

    What brand of suit? If bees are getting in I’d like to avoid it.

    • @beefitbeekeeping
      @beefitbeekeeping  Год назад +1

      The bees weren’t getting in the suit. It was because I was trying to go with just the jacket on and no pants and no gloves that I got stung. I haven’t had a single bee in my suit ☺️

  • @danieldorchester5221
    @danieldorchester5221 Год назад +2

    Bees are less apt to sting lighter colors It is recommended to not do beekeeping and darker colors Similarly they’re more apt to sting rawhide versus goat skin when it comes to gloves. That’s why the suits are white and gloves are goatskin Good job putting the video together.
