We can give Bharat Ratna award to Sachin Tendulkar and Lata mangeshkar but not to Shreenivas Ramanujan. Why?
He is the greatest mathematician produced by India since last 1100 years.Government should give him Bharat Ratna award as soon as possible.

there are people who are students and then grow into teachers, but Ramanujan had no formal teacher....because his knowledge was a gift to mankind from the divine...his life was short because he had a messege to deliver ,like a prophet he delivered that messege and today mankind is a in a better place because of it...

He was a genius, it's hard to find a guy like him who with limited resources invented the formulas used 100 years after him in different fields .

I'm not a mathematician, he was a genius, but he was not alone. Those people come to my mind when I think about outstanding mathematicians which contributed to the field and still used today: Aryabhata, Bernoulli, Descartes, Euler, Fermat, Fibonacci, Fourier, Gauß, Kepler, Leibniz, Newton, Möbius, Pascal, Stifel

The very best mathematical genius, when he was inventing everything new, no one cared him, but when he left all realized his enormous contribution. His health deteriorated bcoz of strict food habits at the foreign land. India is the land gave birth to many of the greatest mind, the world is mesmerised seeing our country's potential & capabilities.

So truthful: even the current attitude shown in one comment made by the prof at Cambridge, resembling what Ramanujam went through when he was invited by Hardy! The fact is, modern applied maths, network engineering, applied physics all have a huge debt of gratitude to Ramanujam. His name was misspelled as Ramanujan!

Modiji , should consider bestowing our Time honoured ,world renowned , great (I wouldn't say greatest ,even though he was) mathematics genius ,our country was blessed with , Ramanujan Sreenivasan - with the country's highest highest Award, posthumously. The Western World of Mathematicians have already acknowledged his status as a genius and a great mathematician
. Of course ,we also other great mathematicians of high status , like Madhava, Battacharya and others ,but honouring , Ramanujan ,will further epitomise our contribution in the field of Mathematics .

Would like to propose a conspiracy theory here...what if the multidisciplinary discoveries that Sir Issac Newton made were based on the Arabic and Greek texts, which themselves were based on Indian texts.
But unlike today there was no one to take the credit on the Indian side.

guitaoist ...no one very asked him what he meant. These Hindu deitys represents aspects of reality / cosmos at the philosophical level. I suspect Namigari represented the inspirational force (or source). These equations came to him in his dreams. Namigari , at the least was a Goddess he encountered in his dreams . His ideas were esoteric NOT following normal math side of brain.

A 2021 ramanujam would not have given credits to a devi.
A high Iq religious Indian with no one to competition at that time would definitely think that some one is suggesting these insights to his brain.

"Mock data functions." "Mock state of functions." If you're wondering what I'm talking about, I'm directly quoting a couple of the weirder translations of the Closed Captions system. I had turned it on, in a pathetically unsuccessful attempt to understand what the hell these people were saying. As you can see, it wasn't very helpful. And that's really just kind of sad. In the future, if you're going to do a documentary about the life of a scientist or mathematician, please do one of the following: 1) Don't include anybody discussing technical aspects of their work. 2) Only include technical aspects of their work by illustrating what you're saying with graphics that are both illustrative and plainly readable. 3) Take the time to have someone with the necessary technical knowledge translate what's being said into meaningful closed captions. Anything else is useless to anyone who doesn't already know it. Thank you. Rikki Tikki.
