I might build a 7800X3D next, just refreshed my 9600k. I followed another channel's method for nvidia drivers of DDU and NVCleanstall for the driver (though it's not the latest one, so I guess I won't be playing Diablo 4 yet, should have less telemetry). I feel this guide was great for covering all the types of gpus etc. The only place I have felt my current rig isn't great has been in raid: Raszageth (lightning dragon). Thanks again for the guide. There are things I could learn to do like BIOs flash (I guess I never waited long enough), I could flash/order another usb to do that, though am happy where my OC settings are at mostly atm.

Can I update bios after having windows 10 installed or will this brick my asrock b550 steel legend motherboard? Asking because I've read online different people having their mb useless after bios update and they don't recommend it at all.😢

After Windows installs and during the "setup steps" DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT connect to a WiFi network or have your network plugged in. If you do, then Microsoft pigeon holes you into using some kind of online account to access the computer. Its better to select the "I dont have internet" option, then it will allow you to create a local login and you can connect to the internet once Windows has fully started up.

Windows recently changed this and there is now no visible option to connect without internet, but there actually is. Go look up a video that will show you how!
Also I would recommend installing all your graphics drivers BEFORE connecting to the internet if you have a dedicated graphics card because otherwise windows will install their own, inferior drivers and will slow down your pc

Yet I have a follow up question as when I attempted to extract the zipped bios folder contents to the drive that was created from running the media creation tool the file explorer threw a warning that two files had mathcing names giving me the option to replace an already existing file made by the media creation tool (cant quite remember the filename, think it was boot). The MOBO model is gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax.
Should this even be a problem?
If yes, should one replace target files or try to keep both files but rename one of them somehow, or should one use one USB drive for BIOS and one for windows?

the tip with ramping up the CPU cooler first was a really good one! for some reason i had all my fans (cpu + case fans) all on the same curve, i changed it now and put the CPU one to ramp up a lot sooner, has helped with temps and noise levels a lot!

Thank you so much Jason for a thorough guide on how to set a PC up! I finished assembling my build on the weekend and followed these instructions immediately after. For a 1st time build it went really smooth following the detailed steps and help links you provided. I am really happy with this new hobby and look forward to seeing your updates in the future over the current market environment for PC builds.

I've seen a lot of video's like this and most are decent but have unneeded bloat of some kind or have no order or structure for a sequence of events that someone that has zero experience needs. Its fine to say "do this this this and this" but still confusing and can intimidate you more when you don't have a clue. This video has pretty much no bloat and it gives you a sequence and an order that makes sense and confidence that you set your rig up right. Great job!

@PCBuilderChannel Just finished my first build. Literally last night and it works! Your parts list for a $1700 mid range and this video. Only difficulty was windows 11 said my new computer with a Ryzen 5 7600 and RTX 4070ti didn't meet minimum system specs and wouldn't install!? So I wasted money on a win11 pro key. So made a new win10 usb and its up and running. Though for some reason my Gigabyte motherboad is stopping at boot and I have to press N before windows loads up. No idea how to fix that. Thanks for what you do! Between the parts and the software recomendations and how to's I would have never even attempted it.

Great video, some of us will use it as a reference 😊. Also if your bios has a letter after the number, it’s a beater bios so keep checking back until there is one with just numbers.

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  Год назад +2

Thanks! Honestly I've never really looked at the naming scheme for bios versions between companies. Gigabyte often uses a letter after to denote a slightly newer build of a previous bios (typically minor bug fixes) without changing the number. But you can always double check the bios notes on the website page.

This video has been an absolutely fantastic resource. One note, on my Asus Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi D4 mobo: after Windows install from USB, I came to a halt because I needed to download and install the LAN/Wi-Fi drivers before I could connect to the internet.
I used the same USB drive and 2nd PC to download and then install on the new machine. After that was back on track updating windows. Hopefully this helps if someone hits the same hiccup.

Great video bro, covered a lot of ground rapidly and succintly. I was curious about the AIO cooler settings, I'm glad you dropped a quick note in there on the settings you use and minimum allowed speeds. I just built out a vaporwave themed Raptor Lake build on a Z790 Elite AX, and she's so gorgeous. Custom airbrushing and lights, I'll post a video up on it soon. I use mine primarily for running engineering software, but wanted a sick-ass aesthetic for my home office - haven't tried to game yet, but it'll run Fusion360 and DaVinci Resolve 17 simultaneously. Damn I love all these cores 😍

Great video man. I have built many pc's but the last time I have put a pc together was 7 years ago a 4790k and 980ti system and I have been saving for a while for my next pc. Finally got most of my parts together, just waiting for the 7800x3d chips to come out and I can put it all together. I have no experience with the new stuff especially with the AMD motherboards and bios settings. Nervous enough as it is and the first thing I have to do is use q flash to flash my Gigabyte bios, just hope nothing goes wrong. This guide is very helpful and makes be feel a bit more confident with the whole process, thanks man.😀

@@freak8615 Everything is running great mate. Just make sure to check the bios version of the motherboard and make sure you update it if its on an older version. The newer bios takes care of the voltage problems which were burning the cpu's and also help with ram compatibility. I think you will be very happy with cpu and the 7900xtx is an awesome card. Good luck mate, hope all goes well for you.
