i had the great honor to play dobro with charlie from may of 96 to march 97. at my dads funeral there was a picture of charlie and my dad. i will never forget those days!
The one and only Charlie Waller. They were bluegrass when bluegrass wasn't cool. The country gentlemen were pioneers that really set the standard of modern performers. Charlie Wallers voice was one you would recognize if you were blindfolded. He had a very mellow sound that could sing about any type of music. I'm just glad he chose bluegrass. I have really enjoyed the gentlemen over the years.
I remember this show, both the first time and then later on this tribute show after Charlie passed away. What a voice. He could sing anything. I've heard him do some folk songs that were awesome.
what a dynamic voice. i was at a blue grass festivle in vasselboro maine, blisterd fingers, and when this man started to sing i was totaly blown away, i said to myself , oh my God, i never heard anything like this before. his voice was so deep and resonant i could hardly believe it.
I went with my dad to the Lake Norman Music Hall in North Carolina and seeing the country gentlemen I was really young but enjoyed with my dad listen to them I grew up listening to Bringing Mary home and the Brown Mountain Lights
I just ran across this video again....after NINE years...and it is an excellent rendition. The song requires a certain restraint and The Country Gentlemen did it perfectly.
@jeffyjobluegrass Sorry, couldn't help it, Jeffyjo! It's just one of those little grammatical errors that drive me nuts! :) BTW, you've got another one on your video "The Country Gentlemen Waltz of the angel's." It should be "Angels." :)

You always knew what group was playing by the voice. Charlie Waller's and John Duffy 's voices were a unique singing duo never to be repeated again!
Charlie Waller - the most missed voice in Bluegrass. RIP Charlie-- and thanks for everything all those years.
