  • A little history lesson. The Blue Lagoon in Pembrokeshire is a remnant of the St Brides Slate Quarry in Abereiddy, which operated from the 1840s to the 1890s. A narrow channel was blasted between the quarry and the sea and the quarry was purposefully flooded. The sediment from the slate stone that remained in the quarry cause the water to turn blue, hence the name “Blue Lagoon.”
The recognition soared when The Red Bull Cliff Diving event was first hosted here in 2012 and then returned in 2016.
