That is likely because as you attempt to face the work, it does not stimulate release of dopamine producing instant gratification that other activities may produce!

Ex- lazy stoner here trying to start a business! The thing that's been helping me lately is seeing these things I used to use as comforts - distractions, smoking, scrolling - for what they really are; obstacles that are in the way of the things I REALLY want in life. I'll literally get myself worked up and angry, like "how dare these things disguise themselves as comforts when they're really my worst enemies!" and then use that defiant rage to launch myself into action for the day. I hope I'm not the only one who does this lol.

We’re in the same boat, using the obstacles as a way of pissing myself off has helped me kickstart this journey to better myself. As soon as I realize I’m letting my old self try to take over, I do exactly as you mentioned and use the anger to force me into making things happen for the day. I’m glad I’m not the only one who understands and does this. 🤝

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I now understand as to why we haven’t heard from you in a while. The handful of your videos are exactly what you need for self-improvement. After so many videos and coming out with more, you will eventually start to repeat yourself and just come here as a selling point to consumers rather than really helping (unlike a lot of RUclipsrs).
And for that I just want to say thank you and I appreciate your work. Hope all is well

This has to be, in my opinion, the best video on self-improvement I have ever watched in my entire life. He expresses in clear and effective language the true nature of why we procrastinate and what we need to do to move forward to be successful. His words are simple, direct and hold universal truths - even spiritual truths.
In one of his videos on relationships, he said something to the effect of the more you chase after relationships, the more you push that away. By chasing after something or someone you are showing desperation and revealing your lack instead of accepting what is and improving yourself. You are showing yourself to be 'needy' and weak. That is a spiritual truth and law. Instead, you surrender to what is and focus on developing and improving yourself, your skills etc. Ultimately, your new self with its skills and self-esteem will attract what you are worthy of in people, things and positions.

Initially, I stumbled upon your channel with the same expectations I had for the others, but something compelled me to give it a chance. It has been a mere week and a half since I discovered your channel, and already I find myself propelled by a newfound sense of purpose. The shift I have experienced is far more profound than mere motivation; it is a driving force that compels me forward.

I’m literally shocked by the amount of points of contact between what is said in this video and my depression notes. I’ve been hostage of my current self for two horrible years, during which things only got worse to the point I couldn’t leave my home and even washing a dish felt impossible. The only thing I was able to do was to write what I understood: I wrote about an invisible force enemy of change. I wrote about the fact that every time you challenge it, it gets easier, and if you don’t, the force gets stronger. Despite having understood all of this, I fell back, because I couldn’t accept the suffering part. And here I am discovering somebody who’s been there and it’s sharing the secret: there are no secrets, you can’t avoid pain. Thank you for this video, I hope this is the last time I hit the bottom

Good info. I’d like to add, for self starting discipline individuals. Play this video again as a reminder to not give up.
Like he said, motivation won’t always be there. Your discipline however always will be and if you discipline yourself enough you’ll realize it gets easier to say no to things and basically JUST DO, whatever you decide to do.
I remember a video I watched that said this.. “It takes 3 seconds to make up your mind.” If you haven’t made up your mind in those seconds you will give in to your old identity or your decision that you are trying to change.
So don’t think about it. Just act

Personifying that version of yourself is a really interesting way of viewing it. In lots of ways it's like a parasite, and draws a lot of biblical parallels to Satan attempting to whisper temptation into your ear. Ultimately you have to refuse to feed it, and let it die.

And then of course continuing to stay away from weed if I get hired. I’ve been smoking every day for 9 years. If I want to do this it’s going to be a life style change. Not just a tolerance break. We say "You are what you eat". It goes even further than that.
We are what we consciously think. We are what thoughts we allow to go through that mental door of ours.
I always thought I knew what other successful people talked about.
And I did, the difference was I didn't understand.

One of the best and wise videos I've watched. Thank you for sharing this wisdom and putting it across in a plain and simple way. Every word you spoke is true and hits the nail on the head. I will definitely give this a try as I've been struggling for the last few months with procrastination with tasks that involve changing my current self into a better future version. The identity war has given me a new perspective. Thanks, brother. God bless you!

Interesting perspective. The 'future you' can be scary to visualize, especially if you aren't completely sure you'll become. Even if you're dissatisfied with your current self there is a comfort in at least being familiar with your situation.

In life you go through this many times. but it gets easier to destroy the betrayer within you.. It starts to give up faster.
Also If you can imagine a new identity that thrives on the new work.. someone you are proud to be, this is very powerful and effective.. Speeds up the change/process.
I imagine the opposite of the "resistance procrasternation imbalance" would be the workaholic slave who has to work over 12 hours a day to support his identity.. pain pushing productivity is more common then productivity persuing pleasure identity.

Very, very well spoken. Tip my hat to you, good sir.
You have me convinced that if my brain is trying to stop me from doing something it's because it is afraid of what I will most certainly become. It's not about trying, it's about doing it constantly until you inevitably achieving the result. I don't appreciate all of one's videos equally, the ones that I believe have the deepest meaning for me.
