Their music doesn't sound like JYPE music because JYP has no hand in it. 3RACHA aren't just listed as producers -- they're literally the main producers. The one song JYP wrote for them, he sent to them and then sat there chewing on his fingernails and hoping they wouldn't reject it. And even though they agreed to do it, they jumped in and produced on top of what he'd already done, both for lyrics and composing. He's admitted to being intimidated by them because they're so good (which is significant because JYP's ego is an entity unto itself). As of the NOEASY album, they have free rein to decide album themes, set tracklists, etc. They've even started taking on engineering and vocal director roles. If you decide to dive into SKZ, you're going to discover that their discography is enormous in variety. There's already nearly 140 songs (factoring in alternative-language versions and the SKZ-Player and SKZ-Record releases), and since SKZ makes and controls their own music, they take advantage of the freedom to wander allllll over the genre/style field and experiment. So don't go in expecting them to always go hard or use the bombastic style casual listeners know from their title tracks, or you'll do both yourself and them a disservice. Also, the _best_ way to get to know them is to pull up their discography list, start from the predebut releases in the Mixtape album, and don't skip _anything_ as you work your way forward. Some of their best stuff is buried in the unpromoted b-sides.

3Racha (Bang Chan, Changbin and Han) is their Production Unit and their “Hip Hop” predebut group. Their Rapline isn’t 3Racha but a lot of newer Stays tend to mix that up. Their rapline is Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix. Danceracha is their dance unit (Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix) and Vocalracha is their vocal unit (Seungmin and I.N). Although honestly they literally all rap and all sing.
I think this is confusing for a lot of people... They see their producing/writing team rapping and then they see them singing, dancing... Every single member is the whole package, and that's surprising.

this group is the most versatile group i’ve ever seen, they can all rap, sing, and dance. they self produce all their music, and the members who focus on dance a lot are always eager to contribute in making their choreography! although their are not set positions in the group, their main rapper changbin, is the fastest rapper in k-pop with 11.13 syllables per second! you guys should definitely watch a detailed guide to get into them and see just how talented all of the members are, i’m excited to see your journey!
Latest song "Scars" is totally different but powerful! Great music video too. They also do a "One Take" live singing video of Scars that shows what great singers they are!
3racha-- Bang Chan, Changbin and Han-- worked with Mike Daley on Easy. Mike got to work with them personally when they were in LA during their tour and said they were all three involved in the process, Chan mostly workshopping the hook and melodies while Han and Changbin wrote the lyrics. Changbin immediately started rapping in the booth and Mike said it hyped them all up, that he was "going crazy in the booth."
jyp has actually said before that he was intimidated by Stray Kids because skz are extremely good at what they do (producing, rapping, singing, dancing, you name it really). Like you said, SKZ do produce their own beats. But they also write their own lyrics, Bangchan even arranges the music sometimes. They are really self produced and it’s absolutely insane. There’s a different air to them because of it too
Theres not a single song in their discography that they didn't take part in and I think bcos they're so involved in the making of their music it's hard to put a label on the type of music they make. They have around 35+ genres in their discography so there's definitely something for everyone

Thank you handsome sausages... LOL This is my favorite song with the mix and the slow but steady beats. Stray Kids love to play with words, and match their dance moves to their lyrics. Every thing that Stray Kids does has a mean or part of a concept. Stray Kids have over 104 discography and 3Racha (Han, Bang Chan and Changbin) produce, write, and compose 99.9%.. I think you are right they have their own sound because they produce their own music and stray kids really don't have color they just love to experiment with music and do it so well. Bang Chan trained for 7 years with JYP and I feel he has a natural talent with beats and arrangements. I am so excited to be with you two on your Stray Kids Journey. They are my first love and intro to k-pop.. Now I have a play list of over 300 songs from old to new. Love to see you react to District 9 (debut) and Hellevator (pre debut) to see where they come from. When they debuted in 2018 they had 9 members but lost one in 2019. They also have performance videos that are almost as good as a m/v. Like Grrrrr, and Victory Song (my 2nd favorite song). Then lets not forget the street songs they do and then their is the mix tapes series. This is going to be a long roller coaster ride for you since they have so many songs.

Cause they make their own song and produce 95% themselves, sometimes Versachoi and other producers are copyrighted too, but it's rare. That's why they are only group I stan, because of creative control they have on themselves. I know that they are the makers/thinkers of what I'm listening too I don't have that "manufactured" feeling but Stray Kids, they are different and groundbreaking. Highly recommend to check out more from SKZ, especially their live stages "Wolfgang" (23.08.2021 on Mnet) "Thunderous" MV "Victory Song"," Miroh", "Double Knot". Of course "God's Menu" and "Back Door" You'll never regret it, they are phenomenally good at everything. Imho not a single bad song in their discography, this "Noeasy" album was non skip album, it's insane.
Oh, I'll love to see your stray kids journey, it's always fun and kinda educative to watch musicians reacting to them because you guys point out things they do producing wise that others probably don't even notice. The "not so jyp" sound could be because of 3racha having a 99% of involvement (with other producers) in their creative process, Chan said jyp doesn't really touch them in terms of their music, so maybe it's bc of that. Thunderous is their latest big comeback and it's a mixture between modern music and some Korean traditional music where they embrace the plot of "noisy music" some people say about them. But in my opinion, if you gonna go through their whole discography is better if you start from their early years because there's a clearly development in their producing and performing skills that grows with them. theyr geniuses. not kidding, not exaggerating. they produced 98% and wrote 99.9% of their discography so far (mostly 3racha, even tho the rest of the members have some credits too, but not as much), they are not afraid of experimenting and it always sounds sooo good. litteraly the best group out there. u should dive deeper into them and their discography u won't regret it!!
Oh and if you want to hear what a stray kids song sounds like when JYP has a hand in it, you should listen to All In. JYP himself said he wrote it especially for them and he was super nervous to give it to them

Welcome to the skz world! You are right - they have great songs that fit different genres and styles and yet they all have the skz touch. Their scores are layered and complex with great attention to detail, and their lyrics are beautiful and genuine. Each song is produced by them and all their songs (except going dumb) are written by the members themselves. I highly recommend you see a guide to know the members better versus they are wonderful and genuine people who really care for their fans (stays). Their street versions and special videos (like Airplane and Placebo [OT8 version of Mixtape 1]) are fun videos to watch and get to see some of their skits/personalities. For a way to see their versatility their new album Christmas EveL shows it all in the 3 new songs (Christmas EveL and Winterfalls are both title tracks) and the English version of Domino isn't bad but I still prefer the Korean release. Han wrote Winterfalls, and Bang Chan wrote 24 to 25. Also, the songs they do for OST's are fantastic as well (Neverending Story, Hello Stranger, Top and Slump, and Here Always [Seungmin solo ost]). I would also suggest watching their Kingdom: Legendary War stages (Hyunjin was on Hiatus for all but the first stage so only seven perform for most of it). It shows their versatility and the way they mix their songs or transform other songs to fit them for their performances. Also, 3Racha stages are a great thing to get into. So far at AAA and MAMA in 2021 they had special stages for them (though AAA was more about them individually vs as a subunit). Not sure if you know, but along with all of their official releases they have two playlists on their RUclips channel SKZ-Record (where they release either solo songs or covers of songs) and SKZ-Player (Release music videos for solo or different subunits songs) For SKZ-Record I would recommend: "인정하기 싫어"/I hate to admit--Bang Chan I Got It--Han "좋으니까"--Changbin and Felix For SKZ-Player I would recommend: "DAWN(새벽)"--Lee Know "막내온탑"--I.N feat. SKZ make all of their own music (mainly 3racha as you mentioned, but all members have songs credited to them) they also often participate in choreography and mv production. regarding music production, if you look at the credits you'll often see VERSACHOI and Hot Sauce pop up, they've worked with the kids for a long time. the best thing you can do when getting into skz is to not go in expecting a certain sound, they have an incredibly wide range of genres in their discography (although title tracks tend to be more on the trap/hiphop/edm side). i really recommend going through their albums and listening to all the songs, some of their best stuff is hidden in the b-sides. also they often put out non-album music on their yt channel, SKZ-Players(MVs, dance videos) and SKZ-Records(just audio) which they use to experiment and improve their skills recommendations - The Tortoise and the Hare, Ex, All In, Thunderous, TA, YAYAYA, Sorry I Love You, SSICK, The View, Miroh, Voices

If you’re looking for recommendations I would suggest: Victory Song, Domino, Cheese, Christmas EveL, Boxer, Grrr and District 9! My favorite SKZ song is actually a Japanese release for Tower of God anime and it’s called Slump. So damn beautiful.
So everyone else has given y’all a bit of info about how they formed and the fact that they’re self produced so I’ll skip that and just give you some recommendations! One of the best parts of their discography is that they have something for everyone! If you want something similar to this I’d suggest side effects. For more rap centered stuff try tortoise and the hare or maze of memories. For singing try never ending story or gone away. Some other basics check out hellevator their first song present, district 9 their debut track, or one of the biggest recommendations double knot!

Like you said, SKZ do produce their own beats. But they also write their own lyrics, Bangchan even arranges the music sometimes. They are really self produced and it’s absolutely insane. There’s a different air to them because of it too

Theres not a single song in their discography that they didn't take part in and I think bcos they're so involved in the making of their music it's hard to put a label on the type of music they make. They have around 35+ genres in their discography so there's definitely something for everyone

Thank you handsome sausages... LOL This is my favorite song with the mix and the slow but steady beats. Stray Kids love to play with words, and match their dance moves to their lyrics. Every thing that Stray Kids does has a mean or part of a concept. Stray Kids have over 104 discography and 3Racha (Han, Bang Chan and Changbin) produce, write, and compose 99.9%.. I think you are right they have their own sound because they produce their own music and stray kids really don't have color they just love to experiment with music and do it so well. Bang Chan trained for 7 years with JYP and I feel he has a natural talent with beats and arrangements. I am so excited to be with you two on your Stray Kids Journey. They are my first love and intro to k-pop.. Now I have a play list of over 300 songs from old to new. Love to see you react to District 9 (debut) and Hellevator (pre debut) to see where they come from. When they debuted in 2018 they had 9 members but lost one in 2019. They also have performance videos that are almost as good as a m/v. Like Grrrrr, and Victory Song (my 2nd favorite song). Then lets not forget the street songs they do and then their is the mix tapes series. This is going to be a long roller coaster ride for you since they have so many songs.

I love your vibe, humor and thoughtfulness so much! subbing for sure and I really hope you'll dig further into Stray Kids! they are THE group that pulled my skeptical butt into kpop lmao...I fell in love with their boldness and authenticity so fast, and their creativity always amazes me. their "signature sound" is based in EDM/rock/hip-hop, but they're very versatile in their bsides and always experimenting with different genres...I feel like my music taste has expanded a lot since I got into them!
you're right, that special sound they have is because they've produced pretty much EVERY song since before they debuted. stays like to brag about them for a reason haha. the producing unit of the group is a trio called *3RACHA* - made up of *Bang Chan* (the leader, he also handpicked all 8 members!), *Changbin* (incredible rapper #1), and *Han* (incredible rapper #2). they are the backbone of Stray Kids, and you will find 3RACHA's name in the credits of every single song you look up. :)
if you want a good "sample pack" of what Stray Kids can do (including beautiful vocals), their new "Christmas EveL" EP is a fun way to start! you get two bangers and two ballads, all of them totally different from each other and really well-crafted. the rap-heavy ones are "Christmas EveL" and "DOMINO English Version" (and ditto to the other comments, DOMINO is amaziiiing). the vocal-focused ones are "24-25" and "Winter Falls".
but if you want another banger in general - the holy trinity for newbies is *"God's Menu", "Back Door"* and *"Thunderous".* you could also try their debut song *"District 9".* the lyrics are practically their manifesto as a group and it goes HARD. 🔥🔥🔥

lemme tell you skz has one of the strongest raplines in Kpop as well as amazing vocalists.
They are self-forming, self-producing, write their own lyrics and participate in choreography making.
They don't have 1 sound but I'd say is it's mostly hype, loud and hiphop but they are the most versatile and experimental group because of their freedom to do so
All 8 members sing,rap and dance so they eventually dropped the titles of 'main rapper/singer' since they do it all.
Bang chan-24yrs ( leader,mainly vocals, rap) HAN-21yrs (mainly vocals,rap) and Changbin-22yrs (mainly rap) are the producing group of skz known as 3racha.
Lee know-23yrs (mainly vocals), Felix-21yrs (mainly rap, deep voice) and Hyunjin-21yrs, (mainly rap) are the dance unit aka danceracha (and visualracha, the pretty squad lol).

I don't have that "manufactured" feeling but Stray Kids, they are different and groundbreaking.

Oh, I'll love to see your stray kids journey, it's always fun and kinda educative to watch musicians reacting to them because you guys point out things they do producing wise that others probably don't even notice. The "not so jyp" sound could be because of 3racha having a 99% of involvement (with other producers) in their creative process, Chan said jyp doesn't really touch them in terms of their music, so maybe it's bc of that.
Thunderous is their latest big comeback and it's a mixture between modern music and some Korean traditional music where they embrace the plot of "noisy music" some people say about them.
But in my opinion, if you gonna go through their whole discography is better if you start from their early years because there's a clearly development in their producing and performing skills that grows with them.

theyr geniuses. not kidding, not exaggerating. they produced 98% and wrote 99.9% of their discography so far (mostly 3racha, even tho the rest of the members have some credits too, but not as much), they are not afraid of experimenting and it always sounds sooo good. litteraly the best group out there. u should dive deeper into them and their discography u won't regret it!!

Welcome to the skz world! You are right - they have great songs that
fit different genres and styles and yet they all have the skz touch. Their scores are layered and complex with great attention to detail, and their lyrics are beautiful and genuine. Each song is produced by them and all their songs (except going dumb) are written by the members themselves.
I highly recommend you see a guide to know the members better versus they are wonderful and genuine people who really care for their fans (stays).

Their street versions and special videos (like Airplane and Placebo [OT8 version of Mixtape 1]) are fun videos to watch and get to see some of their skits/personalities. For a way to see their versatility their new album Christmas EveL shows it all in the 3 new songs (Christmas EveL and Winterfalls are both title tracks) and the English version of Domino isn't bad but I still prefer the Korean release. Han wrote Winterfalls, and Bang Chan wrote 24 to 25. Also, the songs they do for OST's are fantastic as well (Neverending Story, Hello Stranger, Top and Slump, and Here Always [Seungmin solo ost]).
I would also suggest watching their Kingdom: Legendary War stages (Hyunjin was on Hiatus for all but the first stage so only seven perform for most of it). It shows their versatility and the way they mix their songs or transform other songs to fit them for their performances.
Also, 3Racha stages are a great thing to get into. So far at AAA and MAMA in 2021 they had special stages for them (though AAA was more about them individually vs as a subunit).
Not sure if you know, but along with all of their official releases they have two playlists on their RUclips channel SKZ-Record (where they release either solo songs or covers of songs) and SKZ-Player (Release music videos for solo or different subunits songs)

Well all of them sing, rap and dance so there is no positioning within the group, but they do have labels like "3racha" ( the producing main rappers ) , "danceracha" and "vocalracha" . But nevertheless, they do it all depending on the given song and the other members do participate in producing as well not only 3racha

They are so good in their singing and usually people don't praise their dancing too much. They are a full package. No one does in Kpop imho.

SKZ make all of their own music (mainly 3racha as you mentioned, but all members have songs credited to them) they also often participate in choreography and mv production. regarding music production, if you look at the credits you'll often see VERSACHOI and Hot Sauce pop up, they've worked with the kids for a long time. the best thing you can do when getting into skz is to not go in expecting a certain sound, they have an incredibly wide range of genres in their discography (although title tracks tend to be more on the trap/hiphop/edm side). i really recommend going through their albums and listening to all the songs, some of their best stuff is hidden in the b-sides. also they often put out non-album music on their yt channel, SKZ-Players(MVs, dance videos) and SKZ-Records(just audio) which they use to experiment and improve their skills

New subscriber here, excited for your SKZ journey and I appreciate your opinions on their music! If you’re looking for recommendations I would suggest: Victory Song, Domino, Cheese, Christmas EveL, Boxer, Grrr and District 9! My favorite SKZ song is actually a Japanese release for Tower of God anime and it’s called Slump. So damn beautiful.
So everyone else has given y’all a bit of info about how they formed and the fact that they’re self produced so I’ll skip that and just give you some recommendations! One of the best parts of their discography is that they have something for everyone! If you want something similar to this I’d suggest side effects. For more rap centered stuff try tortoise and the hare or maze of memories. For singing try never ending story or gone away. Some other basics check out hellevator their first song present, district 9 their debut track, or one of the biggest recommendations double knot!
