Considering they were in the 40's, that were to be expected, however, no matter how big of an obstacle you face, if you love someone, you must be willing to sacrifice everything to be with them. That's the painful part, they don't end up together. This is what made me so miserable. Seeing those two men so deeply in love with each other but circumstances, wether it be cowardice or prejudice, keeping them apart, and in the end they end up spending a lifetime away from one another. But the second half is focused on Michael's grandson in modern day Britain, his struggle with his sexuality and refusal to commit. But his story has a happy ending, fortunately. I recomend watching the movie though, it is well worth your time!

Acho que quando Janis Joplin canta "don't you turn your back on love, baby" tem toda a razão. A uma paixão e uma atracção assim não se pode virar as costas, nem seguir por outro caminho. É um romance muito bem construído e destruído para voltar a ser construído na segunda parte do filme. Os actores não podiam ser melhores para as personagens que representam, muita química. Na 2ª parte temos a Vanessa Redgrave fantástica, como sempre!
