Harry really impressed me with his acting in this movie. He played the role of Tom perfectly. His vulnerability and innocence in the drinking scene with Patrick really shown through. He has a bright future as an actor as well. 🥰
Just finished watching this and the entire cast did such a great job with their portrayal of these characters. Really enjoyed this movie in its entirety.

I genuinely enjoyed this movie. Harry Styles played the part tremendously. Both characters were amazing. Pity that men were arrested for what they preferred back in those days.

There were so many sad & tragic love stories in the 20th century of secret love, tangled in shame & guilt, hidden & unrequited feelings, moments of pleasure, defiance, triumph & pain, so many lives lost & too many untold stories...& there still are, even to this day... 🌹

I just found this vignette love story and understood the pain of these two people unable to avoid the pressure of an ignorant and uncaring world. Today, when I see two people in love I say a silent wish that they are a ble to remain authentic and true, one to the other, for the whole of gheir lives.

im sobbing bc i JUST noticed the parallel of the ending scene where tom touches patricks neck with his index finger just like in the scene where he touches him first on that couch. and patrick instantly recognizes tom from the same touch and leand against it. im just. really emotional abt it
im also emotional bc harry styles said in an interview something along the lines that the heartbreaking part of this movie is the wasted time. bc time is one of the things we cant get back

I've watched this movie several times. It's so beautiful and wonderfully acted. The final scene is so heartbreaking. I take comfort in believing that now free to share love with Tom and living openly together, Patrick would be out of that chair in a matter of weeks.

I watched this movie yesterday. now I can't get over from it. they took many years to be together. and i'm sorry about Marion too. but I melt more about patrick when tom said nothing about his love on patrick. but all the signs made me feel that tom really loves patrick as tom and marion had no children and the final scene.

@@user-mv8ym1st6q i absolutely recommend you to see both, I personally read the book first and saw the movie when it came out. I think this way the movie was way more understandable as the story is split between 2 time periods simultaneously. very beautiful and heartbreaking, prepare some tissues 😪

Yeah…I read it in the book…there was a recent case on some other policeman too,so another scandal would destroy the dignity of police….or so they thought…and anyway tom had already planned to resign hence they just let it go quietly so that the general public doesn’t get to know about it
XeaRae- I wouldn’t think they’d have had enough evidence to imprison a married officer as well, since he never used his name in the journals!

I've never been a fan of Harry Styles, mostly because I was never into boy-bands. With all his publicity-grabbing shenanigans, I could not take him seriously as a performer. And I certainly didn't think he was a great talent. HOWEVER, he did a bang-up job as this character, in this movie. All the actors were marvelous, but Harry shinned like a star. I know see him as a burgeoning great talent, and an actor to keep our eyes on for future great performances.
I havent't watched this movie yet, but it really reminds me of miniseries Man in an orange shirt.
Man in an Orange Shirt is a great series. The house they go to in the country is actually the same house too.
