I found a samsung plasma full hd 42 inch on the waste disposal.
And found 1 faulty capacitor on the power board.
Cost 98 euro cents to make it, now works perfectly in the bedroom.
    I am happy with it.
    Thanks.

Thanks so much; I was able to fix my 50 inch Samsung TV last night with the help of your video. I cost me about $6.00 for the parts. The capacitors that I replaced were not bulging---they all seem to look like someone used a black marker on top of them. I replaced six capacitors of different ratings and after reassembling my TV and hitting the power button, my television has new life. Again, thanks for posting an excellent repair video.

you are awesome, you may not go over every single detail and have good camera work but you do show how to get into the nitty gritty and stuff, explaining that you can mix and match stuff as long as it serves a certain criteria, it gives me more confidence to dabble around with some electronics myself, see if i can't do a quick home fix here and there.

Great video. I would like to say to anyone who doesn't know how to solder and doesn't want to learn how, you can usually replace the entire power supply board for around 30-75 bucks depending on the model. It's an easy DIY job and costs far less than a repair shop. Just watch out for those capacitors. Make sure to discharge them before you take the back off of the tv.

I have a 55" Samsung LCD I bought in 2009. In 2013, had power but would not show picture and was making a clicking noise.
I just watched this video last week. There were 5 resisters that were not flat on the top. So I purchased a new power board from shop Jimmy's
With shipping it was $74.20. Fixed it in less than 30 minutes. The tv was sitting in a box since 2013 when the problem happened
Because you are "THE MAN". I am now using my 55" again. Kudos to you.

      Hi Tampa,
I have here a Samsung UE32D6200TS LED TV.
Menu and screen comes up but TV makes clicking (relais?) noise.
Caps on the powerboard all look fine and since its from 2012, it is unlikely to be affected by the old Taiwan capacitor plague of the early 2000s. No visible damage outside or inside.
Click, click, click, click …. What else could it be?

It now goes blank after it comes on after about 20 minutes. l did the flashlight test and I can see the screen. Since this TV is not that old, I'm not sure that the LEDs are shorted. I only paid $147 so I didn't get taken. There's a PC board for power and one for probably driver. I've already remove the back cover. I sure would like some advice

That was awesome. Best Buy tried ripping my senior citizen uncle off, they plugged in the Haier 32 inch, tried to turn it on and said his board is blown and he should just buy a new tv, mind you no other tests were done outside of plugging it in.. this tv is 4 years old. He spent 300.00 on another tv. I kinda went ape shit on the Geek Squad and got his tv back. They didnt want to give it up because it was logged in to be "recycled". I convinced them after my italian voice started to reach louder than the rest of the store. I will take it apart tomorrow and check your tips. Thanks for posting this, My uncle and I bought the tv for my dad in 2010, he passed away a short time after, so it would be cool if im able to fix it. My kids want "Grandpa's tv" in their room "cuz it still smells like him". Thanks again.

Why are caps in so many electronic devices defective nowadays? Why can't the manufacturers produce reliable capacitors - what's the problem? I know a few TV manufacturers have sued capacitor makers for giving them defective caps but this problem also effects many other products - including computer motherboards. It's really getting out of hand. You're almost guaranteed that any electronic device you buy today will have bad caps after a few years of use. Meanwhile, I can power up a 60 year old tube amp, or even a receiver from the 70's and it works without issues. You would think technology would advance and produce more reliable components, not the other way around.

A little tip when removing solder joints, if you wet the iron with fresh solder it will melt the old solder quicker so that you don`t have to leave the iron on the joint for longer. I was told the other way to tell on a capacitor witch one is the negative look at the legs ,one will be longer than the other, But can`t remember now witch one has the longer leg lol

Is it safe to conclude that components directly next to the spark have the biggest possibility of being blown. I priced a board at $55 with a 90 day warranty. dude great vid- I noticed one thing.. Ive been taking caps off boards for years, and I hate monotony, and when things take a long time. so I always try to find the fastest way of doing things, since i do hundreds in a row, by hand.. If you push on the cap very gently, toward one leg, and heat the other leg's solder area, it will push up, then do the other leg..it pops right off.. its the fastest way, no matter what.. seriously like changed my life when i figured out that method!

After taking the back off, all the capacitor looked fine (no bulges) but went and got myself a soldering iron and a few 1000uf 25V 105c capacitors (to replace the 10v capacitors). Did the swap out and the TV works great again and all for a total cost of €18.20 Thanks a million. ps. I have no electronic experience….Thanks again.

Hey great video! Here's a question for you, I have a 40" Samsung LCD tv that turns off after 20 minutes. The power board has burn marks on some of the components like some transistors and diodes. Caps look good, no visual issues there, but would you suggest I replace anything that has visual effects only or perhaps the caps as well? Thanks, I'll keep watching and recommending your videos!

I've replaced caps on several LCD monitors that were left for dead. In my experience it is worth buying higher quality caps than originally used; they will last longer. Also, keep the monitor off when not in use, those caps are usually only rated for 5-10,000 hours.

Hello Thanks for the great video on how to replace the capacitors on TVs. My question is how do you know that the larger capacitors are still not storing a voltage? Did you let them drain out first? Im afraid of doing this job and getting zapped. There are alot of videos out there about this capacitor fix but they just say becareful with the large caps. I like to learn how to discharge the whole power board before working on it.
    Thanks

Fantastic tutorial. My tv just died on me, I got my partner to open it up so I could have a look (after watching this video) and to my relief, there was a swollen too capacitor. Now on my way to purchase a solder iron etc. I can only hope this works and will be a proud girl if I fix it. Thanks again for sharing

Nice video, I fixed an older 52" Samsung with same fault, but 4 caps were bulging. I thought it good practice to replace all the caps on the board to save problems further on.
    Really enjoy your videos, thanks.

I'm over the moon, *high five* you virtually fixed my tv for me. Can't thank you enough for your clear and accurate demonstration and I'm one happy girl. I tried this with my second Tv but its not as straight forward as this one. Like Richard below, my Philips has sound but no picture. On looking at the inverter board there was 3 blown caps which I have replaced but still nothing so I'm at a loss. Any quick fixes for this one :)

Thank you very much, I can't wait to take my broken TV apart. I can't believe how many I threw away. I wish you could have taken a moment and warned us of dangerous areas in the TV, if there are any (do they even hold a huge shock -like the old TV did?). Great video, thank you

Kenny, On the old Sanyo TVs we had a Capacitor that supplied 12 volts to the main power relay.( The DC supply to the relays coil) The voltage to the relay would be slightly low and cause it to chatter ( BUZZ) . It will not show a bulge , IT will just change tolerance. Some of the sets used a 24 volt relay. IT will be written on the top of the relay. Just check the supply with a volt DVCM .fallow the print to a diode,( it will be the cathode side) You should find the Cap. to replace.

Hi guys. Just a quick tip for you when replacing the mosfets on a heat sink. If they are paded do not remove the pads as the drain goes to ground and this will be shorted. I just find this out today from somebody. Take care as I blew 4 mosfets as I lost the pads. Good luck!

Tampatec, great video. Thanks. I have 3 kids and am a SAHD so I can appreciate the noise in the background! I have a Panasonic TC-L42U22 with no sound. Picture signal is fine. Also TV does not respond to DVD and VCR external input. I did a soft and hard reset and did a restore back to original factory settings...no change. Any suggestions? Note: We had a thunderbolt hit nearby yesterday and this was the only trouble in the house I noticed.

Live your vids they've saved me some $. Would like it if you described how you knew the cap was bad, where you buy your caps, what tip is on your soldering iron, what kind of solder you use etc. you really do make this stuff doable or the average joe and with just a little bit more info I think more people would be confident to do this stuff.

Thanks to youtube videos like this that people are not throwing out their nice LCD or plasma Tv's for me to have for free right now. I would gladly take them for myself and replace the $5 in capacitors for each tv and keep the larger ones for myself and sell the smaller ones for small profit.

I really learned a lot about my tv from your videos, thanks a ton for sharing your knowledge. A couple questions if you don't mind: Westinghouse VR5525-z suddenly stopped coming on. It has power, as the red indicator comes on and stays on. However, power button on side or remotes do not turn it on and the red light does not change to blue as it should. Finally got the back off last night and didn't see anything bulging, disconnected or seemingly out of place. I know virtually nothing of electronics and don't own a voltmeter. I do know how to solder and if I could find a bad component could probably replace it...don't want to get zapped either. Any further suggestions? Would an inexpensive voltmeter benefit? Ordering a replacement board? I see shopjimmy has a main board for $90 but have no idea if that's the prob or not. Any further info/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your help, this is a great service you're doing here for others!

in most cases its bad capacitors (1000uf 10v,2200uf 10v,3300uf 10v) in power board (some caps may Look good but still be bad) check stand-by volts on power board. should be 5v or 3.3v
