Following up: Got my mandalay to a max jump range to 90.36. Still need to engineer the life support and power distributor. Looks like I'll have to make a long trip to Colonia in this.
I did small heat-check in previous vid where was fuel scooping and charging fsd at the same time: not like dolphin - heat was still raising but not that crucial like in Type8. I would say: decent. The ship handles heat nicely

so you did try and got 91.53 ly jump? Nice! Regarding bi-wave it heavily depends on a distro, especially if you have some utilities like heatsinks (5 class distro barely capable to support class 6 bi wave even with 4 pips to sys)
yeah, I also prefer to explore with some protection and stuff I like to use. Really don't like maximum-stripped paper ships :D Exploration can be dangerous - but we can make it more.. let's say - comfortable :]
What’s the jump range with a size 1 PD? I’d expect maybe a +0.1 range increase tbh so not much. For your build that would be the actual max, any higher is exclusively within the domain of people with grandfathered gear with esoteric engineering combinations on them. Not counting the range increase from burning your 8T fuel tank down to the absolute minimum for the jump and measuring then (5.15T for class 5 SCO iirc? 5.3? Somewhere around there)
I also think it's 5.15 but.. need to check. More than sure when the ship goes on public - you or other pilots will be able to construct it more efficiently. Really looking forward to see the results
Well, looks like I'm going to have to immediately disappear into the black once again once the Mandalay is out. I already have all the mats farmed and ready.
It really seems like the Mandaly is the 'multi purpose' ship out of the 4. The Mark 2 doesnt have the internals, The Type 8 doesnt have the hardpoints or manouverability. The Mandy has both *and* good jump range. It doesnt have the large hardpoints the Python mark 1 has that makes it a proper multi purpose ship but the Mandalay can certainly hold its own seems.
yeah, can't say it could be *good* all-rounder but at medium level should. Even while it shines at its specialization it also able to be operational at other game aspects
@@Alswulf hehe I was being cheeky, I love my explorer krait BUT (I'm sorry phantom) I love even more the looks of the Mandalay. I actually applaud if this one really is a direct upgrade since I was already bored of doing everything in my krait phantom. Also nice video pal, first time I see you channel and def gonna be checking the rest of it.

I wana play again but waiting for all the ships to be out of paywall... the Irony is I would've bought all kinds of paints and kits for them already... but I just don't like the idea of pay to unlock. Will return eventually :)
Its not ideal but they can't afford to take further risks with large expansions. So if they don't monetize the game in this way no further development will be done on the game so choose what matters more. A dead game with old paint jobs to buy or new features and some not ideal monetization?
everytime the same mistake with the powerplant, never use "d", next smaller "a" is better in all ways

I think I’ll aim for mid-80s LY range with 4D efficient shields and full 32t fuel tank. Nice to know what the max is though!

Interesting build.... My Mandalay jumps 180.31 Current and 182.14 Unladen with Premium boost AND SHEILDS! ;)
with new CG FSD I would consider even higher jump :D
@Alswulf There's more range there, but you'd need to strip the shields, lose the SRV module etc.

does a 1d g5 engine focused power distributor not allow you to boost? it does for most other exploration ships.
if it costs 15 mw~ then a 1d g5 with cluster capacitors will allow you to boost and shed an extra .4 tons
