Gotta admit, this one and Mandalay are what I am looking forward the most. Cobra 5 is also finally one new ship that isnt clearly intentionally nerfed by small distributur. Maybe its way too good in most other areas tho. The powercreep is real. I actually noticed it was super similar to Asp Scout funnily lol. Pretty much same core internals, but Cobra 5 actually has MORE speed, MORE survivability, MORE internals and MORE utilities than AspS lol. Thats kinda sad and hilarious.

But don't be upset buddy: it's a new tech-era - I would be quite sad if it was WORSE than some existing smalls instead :D Even without new gen ships - barely possible to spot any cmdr in dropship, asp scout or cobra mk4. I feel the same with new one: perhaps Mandalay is more a long-range explorer and I rarely doing that, so for me: Type 8 and this Cobra are the ones I was waiting

It was already 2nd time we had a chance to get them - so I would assume that somewhen soon we could have another chance from some CG. Whereas the new medium ships didnt quite turn things on their head, being far more balanced for their size class, this ship really signifies a new generation for small ships in Elite. It just completely outclasses 90% dedicated role ships, as a multirole ship... Im hoping this means we will get more new small ships in 2025, like an updated version of the Diamondback Scout, or a new Viper - because as it stands, there seems to be no reason to pick anything else unless its a Vulture or maybe even a Courier.
that depends on: python mk2 has outstanding firepower due to amount of slots and ability to carry same amount of Pacifiers like Anaconda :D Which make it quite dominant in dps-dealing. Mandalay also outperforms any med ship at exploration and is like very close to jjumpo-conda level. But I get your point and also hope there gonna be more new gen ships. New tech process and stuff we've discovered during fights vs goids defo will push it
my goal was not the mission completion but testing its agility, boost transition into lats/verts, potential for range control and distro capabilities (boost spam with as much shooting as I could)
I would say it's gonna be the same as all prev new gen ships: 16k arx for default version and 32k for pre-build one (with ship kit, A-modules and paint)
@@Alswulf 4A with charge enhanced super conduit modification has about 29mv. After firing from 3 size 2 rails(5.1mv) and 2 size 1 rails (2.69mv) distributor capacity would be about 8mv. With 5.27 recharge rate and bonus from the heat sink it should fully restore it's power in about 3 seconds.
@@Alswulf during standard jousting fight target won't be in cross long enough for the second shot especially in range less than 1.2km. So distributor should have enough time for recharge
Well Cobra MK3 is my main since over 4 years. So why not retire it for a MK5. Already checked on a fitting tool that it can have the same layout as my old mk3 but exceed like alot in every single aspect. First was thinking of the Mandaley being the replacement, but nope. Has to be a Cobra ;)
@@Alswulf I just hope that all the classic ships won`t be completly obsolete at some point so nobody flys them anymore. At some point, an Engineer or techbroker to stabilize the SCO on non compatible ships might be fun. To make little hotrods out of the classics, if you know what I mean. Although using SCO on a Mk3 is like driving a hotroad I suppose...hm.^^ (alwas reminds me of the scen in Apollo 13 where they light the rocket engine and struggle to keep it aimed at earth)
So disappointed this grotesque, malformed thing is better than the beautiful MKIII. These new ships are insane power creep, and it this point it seems like Frontier are clawing for attention with shiny new things when they should be rebalancing the older ships to newer standards and fixing/expanding on broken and underde mechanics and content. At least the Vulture still kicks its ass😂
:D it's a ship kits you are mostly dissapointed with - without it: the new Cobra it majestic! I really don't mind new gen ships being better than old ones - in other cases it would be just useless reskin of existing ships. We already have some ships barely anyone uses - only npcs. Some old one defo will stay at their places - some mind be replaced, like when alliance ships appeared of Kraits. Just try them, found their strong features and find weak ones. Adapt if need

In my opinion, for these missions, if you are on small ship, the best is 2 mine launchers and rail guns + reverski fly mode.

ye, but what about constant pressure and boosting? You think heatsink will recharge it fast for next or next after that shot that fast?

to slow for be better than mandalay, the mk5 should be over 650
well, it has much smaller hitbox though and even while being heavy - it's possible to have ~600 m/s boost while Mandaley gonna be close to 550
@Alswulf mk3 was over 610 - 620 . and a good mandalay build is around 565 to 580
but mk3 barely close to maneuverings, boost strength, distro size and sco optimization.
And have less hull with less weaponry and less utilities :]
