a clear, well thought out demo with a speaker who doesn't waffle about as in 99% of youtube instruction videos, and has clear pronounciation. Helped me make up my mind about which controller am gona treat myself to. Would have been useful to show the drivers set up stage, to see if its as easy as with Automap V4. Thanks to Mr Beard guy, and keep it up!!!
Hey everyone make sure your ableton live is up to date with the latest version.. If not, there will not be the (launchkey) option under the midi setting.. had to figure that out the hard way... lol! Just sharing that with yall
hopefully getting one of these, my oxygen 25 doesn't quite cut it anymore, want to get more hands on with the performance pads, plus 49 keys is much better!
***** Thanks a lot! This really helped me. I thought loops was only created via. the apps, but I did not know that Ableton was able to it as well. Once again - thank you!
Why do I not see a launchkey app in the App Store. I see everything else like launchpad app, groove box , wave block, but no launchkey app. Thanks for any help
I just bought one of these and I just wanted to say for anyone using Windows 8.1 you will run into problems. When it works its great - for the price you get a ton of functionality. I'm hoping they will release an updated driver though. The problem is if I unplug the USB cable I have to disconnect / reconnect anywhere from 10 - 20 times before its recognized again. I think this is a USB 3.0 / Windows 8.1 issue as it also happened with my previous M-Audio keyboard. Of course when I plug it into my Macbook everything just works heh. Sooner I can throw my Windows desktop out the window the better!
Hello, if your problem still relevant, try this version of driver, for me it worked more stable, then new one. drive.google.com/file/d/0B4mNQyB60_lCTUZOX2FDeWpCa00/view?usp=sharing
I'd like to know more about the keys, are they good enough to play piano parts? I'm not a pianist, but I like comfortable keys to play some piano sometimes. The problem is that the controllers with good keys are generally very expensive. I had another controller that I never got used to the keybed, so I wouldn't like to waste my money again. As I live in a small town in Brazil, I don't have access to any of these controllers to check it out. Nice video, anyway!
Anyone know if this version works well with Studio One? I am potentially buying one off this guy for my Stepdaughter to use. I have studio one wich I am hoping this would work well with it. Any information would be helpful. Thank you ✌🏻
does this keyboard work well with digital performer? can the pads be used to their fullest potential or just as drum pads? do the knobs only control panning as well?
I am thinking of buying this lovely Instrument to start practicing keyboard/piano. I am just wondering if you could recommend this product for this type of use. I already own a cheap Keyboard, but the Audioout is messed up and it has no Pressure sensitivity on the Keys. Can I use this Instrument just to practice and get a "dynamic" feel while playing Piano Songs? (I also find the extra Buttons/Software that comes with it very neat and didn't see anything similar in this pricerange...) Thank you for your help!
***** Thank you for your fast reply. My budget is pretty low though.. I could spend more but want to save my money for other things aswell ;) I guess I'll go for it then :D (if you know another keyboard in the same or lower price-range which performs better in playing expressively played musicsongs I'd definately take a look at it)
***** I was thinking about a 61 Key-model (would like a full pianosized-keyboard, but my desk is limited in length and I don't have much space elsewhere) Thank you for helping me out. It's really nice being able to take contact with someone who knows this theme better than me and helps me.
My Launchkey randomly lost connection with Computer or iPad after playing for a while. I tried different DAW, and iPad, same issue, even with the power supply plugged in. I have to replug it or "reset MIDI drivers". Does anyone else have this issue?
Hello! I need some help with the name of the connector you are using to connect your ipad with your controller. What is the name of that adapter? PLEASE HELP!!!
is there anyone who is using Novation Launchkey 61 MKII Keyboard Controller for Ableton Live with Ableton live 8, i wonder if it is compatible? any thoughts?
is tha keys feels good.. is it heavy. light. tell me about it. because the last keyboard (akai mpk mini mpk 2) i bought went to be a garbage.. its keys are like stones.🐛
***** Yes i am using a MacBook Pro, i use the Audio 6 for DJing and have been for the past 6/7 months, do you know how i would go about setting up? the speakers i have are M-Audio BX8 D2's
***** that's so simple haha, i already have the phone leads i just need the jack to go on the end of the phonos which allow it to connect into the speaker via TRS, great thanks for the help anyways. appreciate it, liked and subscribed!
I bought 1 of these to replace a Korg controller - the keys aren't as good for playing as that but as a controller / drum programmer/ mix controller / for me - it beats everything on the market at this kind of price
***** I am not a pianist, i use this only to write little parts. Anyway yes, you can write expressive parts if you set the curve you prefer. A my friend is a pianist and he can play expressive parts with cheaper keyboards. I bought this keyboard few months ago, for the price it's a good one, it's relatively solid, the only problem is that doesn't have a switch to turn off so you have to unplug your usb cable. I have seen other expensive midi keyboards and through they cost the double they are built in the same cheap way, the only difference is they have aftertouch, midi out and a lot of other buttons i barely will use.
Hi, thank you very much for the video .. I found it really helpful as I'm thinking about purchasing a 25 note model for my son.I do however have a couple of questions .. If I buy one of these, will my son turn into a bearded gentleman who looks like he was the first person that the producers could find when they visited the local homeless shelter, and also ... will my son be in a position to edit promotional videos as badly as this? Any help would be appreciated Thanks
I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't just do all that INSIDE your DAW with volume and other envelopes you assign to the parameters of your sound plugins. ? Maybe people don't know how to do that? Or they just love turning a physical knob I guess. Why would anyone play the drums on those tiny squares instead of keys on the keyboard?
Zero-G Music ah, so the fact they are a little stiffer give people a little more timing accuracy then. I am thinking of buying either the Novation Impulse 61 or the Launchkey 61. I had a Korg M1 so I'm hoping the Impulse has similar key feel. the other has synth feel and I think if the Impulse is light enough I'd like that better.
***** well, I've tried 4 controllers and all the keys are too stiff for me. I had an M1 and I guess I am used to that so I'm just finding some old DX7 now because I think it uses the same keybed as the M1.
TruthSurge Not only does the M1 have the same keys as the DX7, but pretty much every korg and yamaha keyboard from the 90's. It is called the "FS action" and there have been at least a couple of versions if not more, keys are interchangeable during repairs. and yes, I think it should be considered the reference synth action against other actions could be compared to cause it's been everywhere, has very reliable platinum contacts, and plain feels great for a lightweight keybed. Some of the newer synth actions do come close in feel although the trend is towards a bit stiffer, and novation is my second favorite after the FS action of all those classic keyboards.
Aurelio Ramos I just bought a used DX7 from a Guitar Center for an okay price and althought it's scratched up here and there and a lot on the front bottom, the keys do feel just like my M1 and that makes me happy. I can play this for an hour w/o feeling as if I've been doing Judo training on some tree. I was kind of wondering if it would feel the same and yup, it does. I USED to have a DX7 but sold it, got an M1... sold it.... dang it. thanks.
Way late to the party, but Mr. Camera man...you need to find an angle where his arm and hand does not block out everything he's doing. You can't see anything he's pressing.
"No power supply at all" while using the controller on the iPad! Yes but WHAT YOU FORGET TO TELL is that the battery power of the iPad will be eaten up in 20 minutes when running an iPad musical app plus powering the keyboard!! This device of course can't be plugged to a power supply when connected to the keyboard via usb camera kit because they use the SAME connector. So if you're ok with making music like this for 20 minutes sessions and the deplug everything to put the iPad in charge then this solution is MADE FOR YOU… Thanks APPLE for thinking we're just DUMB consumers! And thanks Novation for subscribing to this bastard mentality!

if it's usb powered, what's the point on the power input on it?
+Jonas Lavarini
So you don't drain your tab or laptop battery
hopefully getting one of these, my oxygen 25 doesn't quite cut it anymore, want to get more hands on with the performance pads, plus 49 keys is much better!
Is there a button to navigate through different octaves ? I don't really want to the 61 version
Does it work with a Android Tablet or phone?
Awesome. But how can i setup the sound of the Keyboard ? Can i change it ?
I was just wondering if I can create a loop, even though I have not gotten a iPad. Can I only create a loop via. the launchpad apps?
***** Thanks a lot! This really helped me. I thought loops was only created via. the apps, but I did not know that Ableton was able to it as well. Once again - thank you!
The faders and the knobs map to the ones in Pro Tools, but does it let you write volume, pan and plug-in automations using these??
Why do I not see a launchkey app in the App Store. I see everything else like launchpad app, groove box , wave block, but no launchkey app. Thanks for any help
Hi, if i connect the controller to a Workstation, say Kross, will I be able to assaign the faders-knobs to parameters on the workstation? Thanks
So can you set it up to be able to play, say, a lead on the keyboard while using the drum pads at the same time?
I just bought one of these and I just wanted to say for anyone using Windows 8.1 you will run into problems. When it works its great - for the price you get a ton of functionality. Gleb Dudko Thanks it can be very intermittent when the problem occurs but will try your driver :)

***** Thanks for your feedback, I have some time, so I'll think better about the next midi contoller.
Hi, can you use this piano with the FL Studio 12? Thankyou =D
yes but it won't work as tightly with it. I thought u got ableton lite for free with it.
That beat he made at 4:00 is fire lol yess!!
Anyone know if this version works well with Studio One? I am potentially buying one off this guy for my Stepdaughter to use. I have studio one wich I am hoping this would work well with it. Any information would be helpful. Thank you ✌🏻
can you have the pads mapped to say a drum kit, but the keys to a organ/synth sound in Ableton?
yes.
xXPoisonShotsXx thx, how do you do that?
Im certain that if you plug the controller into you pc and open ableton or any other daw you have the options to chose what buttos do.
thx
Is it possible to record with any app the launchkey app working?
I know its very basic but wanted to make sure that the key notes are velocity sens??
How do I use the trigger pads in order to sample drums? I can't seem to find the notes and channels that the pads are assigned to
does this keyboard work well with digital performer? can the pads be used to their fullest potential or just as drum pads? do the knobs only control panning as well?
can i use this to control external hardware synths?
I use ableton and can´t decide between this and Alesis V49, one would say this is ableton ready but idk, i like both. which one would you recommend?
How does this work with FL studio?
had nooo clue focusrite was part of novation . thats pretty darn diddly cool
paradroidx p
Is it compatible with other apps besides the Novation apps? Say I wanted to control Animoog or Garageband?

Hi this video is good but will this product work with Studio one pro by presonus?
will those apps record in garageband app?
Someone pls tell me, is it possible to sync the midi signal between Novation iPad apps and other midi based gear, or traktor, or ableton?
please someone say whether it can work with Ableton installed in windows ??? will the automatic mapping and all othe stuffs works perfectly there ??
Does IN CONTROL work with say Reason or is that a feature specific to Live?
works with Reason, Logic, Cubase, FL Studio and grilled cheese sandwiches
My Launchkey randomly lost connection with Computer or iPad after playing for a while. I tried different DAW, and iPad, same issue, even with the power supply plugged in. I have to replug it or "reset MIDI drivers". Does anyone else have this issue?
Is it possible to add new nodes to an existing patch?
Yup.
Where can I buy that white thing to plug the usb in?
hey got any remedial courses for someone like me who know nothing about daw let alone ableton?
It is an adapter that Apple makes called usb to camera connection kit... comes in 30 pin and lighting for iPad 4 buy at amazon
Filming by the rear side is a great view! We see your shoulder, back of your hand but none of this controller. You do great pro videos!
Dude! Give us a break. This video was 5 years ago. I assure you our video skills have come on leaps and bounds since then. x
why my perimeters doesn't work?
Hello! I need some help with the name of the connector you are using to connect your ipad with your controller. What is the name of that adapter? PLEASE HELP!!!
Apple makes them and they are called usb to camera connection kit. Buy them at amazon
Is it compatible with Reaper? Could I remap the controls on reaper and if so would all the keys, faders, knobs e pads work fine?
+Jonas Lavarini Any word on this?
Does anybody know the name of the first song? I heard it months ago and have been chasing it ever since.
***** I was talking about the background song at the beginning of the video.
What software are you using???
I Love it!
I Hope i will get it !!

i have just gotten this, does it work with a Traktor Audio 6 into speakers or something? im new to all this malarky haha..
***** Yes i am using a MacBook Pro, i use the Audio 6 for DJing and have been for the past 6/7 months, do you know how i would go about setting up? the speakers i have are M-Audio BX8 D2's

Marly Smith ***** also, how many of those cables will i need? like the quantity of each of the link you sent me??
oh right i see okay sweet, thanks! :)
can anyone explain why my D# and G play multiple notes at once but other keys don't? It's the most annoying thing and the tech support are useless.
I bought 1 of these to replace a Korg controller - the keys aren't as good for playing as that but as a controller / drum programmer/ mix controller / for me - it beats everything on the market at this kind of price
The last 15 seconds of that review made the other 11 minutes and 34 seconds all worth while. LOL!
Does it use Automap?
Can i make Italian Express coffee with this keyboard?
Anyway it's a nice keyboard for its price and nice vsti to start for free. The only problem is there are some noisy keys.

Best reply I've ever read
Does it work with GarageBand ?
I would think so. Any keyboard that works on Logic should work in gb
how about with android tablets?
Amazing video! Question for you: does InControl map controls with third-party plugins the way that Automap does?
I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't just do all that INSIDE your DAW with volume and other envelopes you assign to the parameters of your sound plugins. ? Maybe people don't know how to do that? Or they just love turning a physical knob I guess. Why would anyone play the drums on those tiny squares instead of keys on the keyboard?

Is this 49 or 61 ?
Just count it
Where is real demo?
This guy used to be in Tomorrow’s World in the early 80’s
Way late to the party, but Mr. Camera man...you need to find an angle where his arm and hand does not block out everything he's doing. You can't see anything he's pressing.
does not work with pro logic x!!!
11:36 Haha nice

The keys are rather rigid and have a long travel. No aftertouch. Perhaps for kids only.
