I'm about to buy my first midi, but the #1 reason why I am leaning towards Akai MPK Mini MK3 is cuz it has a button to turn off the velocity of drummpads feature, and Launchkey Mini Mk3 doesnt have this feature. while i understand u can turn it off within DAW, i am a beginner and dun wana get overwhelmed with stuff i can do with DAW when ill be overwhelmed learning about the hardware. if this feature was present, id get Launchkey Mini Mk3 tomorrow...
Brother is simple; If you like ableton strictly go for the Novation. If you like arturia software, or go mixing it with other DAWs, Arturia has a better "performance" (General). In terms of design, I think I'm more attracted to the Novation. Also look at the quality of the keys, their weight, stiffness, etc. I bought a V25 alesis a long time ago and it's hard shit, it's hard for me to use it.
Dude... If you use ableton its perfect. But using other DAWS...I recommend getting the Arturia Keystep for $110 out the gate. Because it has features on the keystep that IS compatible to 90% of DAWs including ableton. I have a key step and its the main source of my workstation. But now I'm buying this due to the midi output feature since I'm running hardware also beside creativity on the go. I recommend this...and buying the arturia Keystep. Trust me...the key step is the best quality investment. The key step has an apt and sequencer built into it as well. Dip switch plus analog in/out connections for external hardware. Its only missing drumpads...but the novation mk3 Makes up for that in your rig as well.
Have one and there also few reasons to not buy it. No internal, precise clock for arp and no midi cc on pads in Components app. Do not get me wrong, it is briliantly intuitive and deviate func is a gamechanger. Pity that it is a kind of wasted potential without Ableton. Novation did update for Launchpad but forgot about this one.
Finding a compatible trs to midi adapter is extremely frustrating..... type A or B confusion amongst resellers is high due to Change from Novation recently. Availability of type A from Novation Distribution is a long term issue. Adapter should be included with keyboard ! Spent weeks so far and still waiting.
Great review. I've seen others but this seems right to the point and clear. Based on THIS video, I think I'll pick one up. Thanks!
Just bought it for making and recording some drums and I, IV, V chord progressions for my guitar rehearsals. Can't wait to get it

How are you? Was it worth the money? The keys how are they? very stiff, or light?

I’ve got a Mac book air & an HP pc from 3/4 years ago - this controller maps perfect on the Mac & not on the pc ? Same Abelton lite 10 sane build ?

I know this is an older comment but for anyone who comes across this, you can turn velocity off on the Launchkey
Is this good to use for fl?
It's designed for ableton so your controls will probably be limited in FL
Will this work for android using caustic 3?
I cant choice between this , akai mpk or Arturia minilab
trust me, no one can
Exactly the three that I can't make up my mind about either!!

can you customize the soundpad with your personal sound effects or stingers
I don’t understand the word he said cause there no closed caption I can hear music cause vibration but I can’t hear him wish they put closed caption.
Its great for not-Ableton-Live also.
Pity it has zero integration with GarageBand besides keys

my wife had been say 5 reasons why she chose me
Should have had separate buttons for track selection. The Shift key is too far away.
I HAD TROUBLE USING THIS.
I returned mine... not robust for the price. M-AUDIO and Akai offer better products.
The first minute is a waste of time
