What's even MORE incredible is that it is believed this is the only time Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya ever appeared together dancing on film. We're talking arguably the two greatest ballerinas of the 20th Century in this very scene.
What an honor to watch these two Soviet stars together! I'm not for Socialism, but it seems to have produced some of the greatest talent ever. Whether it was thru suffering and such, I do not know. Again, I do not condone Socialism, but it seems the human spirit thrives under its thumb.
Honestly, I think a big part of it is that Soviet Russia funded institutions like the Bolshoi, including the Vaganova academy. The down side is that this meant the art works like ballets had to tow the party line, but the up side is great artists like Ulanova and Plisetskaya. And this was not socialism but a corrupted form of Communism (closet socialist here). A number of European countries fund their arts programs in a similar way, and I think Russia continues to underwrite the arts. As opposed to the US, where even kids with potential may be barred from things like ballet lessons due to the cost, and where even the big companies like ABT are dependent on things like corporate donations. Even the NEA can't help a lot due to its own funding dwindling.

Amazing. Thx for posting!

I have this on a cd. Wonderful!
It is incredible. Absolutely incredible...
no words!
Y Chavukianin....Dios,
FUCKY YEAH BALLE!
