I just knew he would be responsible for his friends dying. But just because I loathed him, I was still interested in him. Post time-skip, he shows growth, has a plan & is determined to see it through. I found I could get behind him, even if I disagreed with his final solution, I understood why he felt the way he did. On rewatches/rereads, I see how the environment & narrative drags him, no matter how good he wanted to be. It makes his obsession w/ freedom so much more palpable & painful. One scene in the first season that reveals a major plot twist in the first season is when eren bangs his head and while he is sitting down , steam starts to come out of his head
I have this question about aot … when did Eren know he was gonna be stopped? At medal ceremony or when Ymir gave him founder’s powers in paths? What was his plan all along? Why did he stop at 80?
in AOT time is convoluted. Past, present and future happening at the same time. That's why Eren act so cold in season 4. He knew no matter what happen his fate cannot be changed.
Someone needs to tell me what to watch next. I'll admit, I haven't actually watched many anime, but I cannot fathom anything bein on par with Attack on Titan. Can someone explain to me why the manga ending disappoints so many people? Is it just because it’s not a conventionally “happy” ending? There must be something I’m missing because from what I can tell it’s beautiful and perfect.
Won't spoil anything but it's one of the worst ending in fiction i've ever read. It's not "bad" because its not "happy ending", in fact it's quite on a happier side, But it ruined a lot of the good parts of the story and rendering them meaningless, which is not what you wanna do when you're about to end your story. It's also leave a shitton more of plotholes left unexplained. I honestly refuse to believe this is the ending isayama intended, but rather some nasty corporate assholes forced a fucking ai to write the ending
@@JCDentonman Spoil away, I have to know. Is there something in specific you wish they would’ve resolved? What good parts of the story did it render meaningless? I’m not disagreeing with you-I haven’t read the ending myself, I’m only familiar with the sequence of events.
@@rickyv8709 the ending goes with eren and armin talking about his motives for the rumbling. Eren explained that he is actually being controlled by ymir fritz so she can free herself from loving king fritz (you heard that shit right "ymir is in LOVE with king fritz wtf). Ymir is waiting for someone to free her from her love and that person is mikasa. This is such a fucking disgrace to eren's character from the previous chapters and it ruined everything from the marley arc up to this point. Turns out that eren's motivation isn't for the island's sake, but rather some sick romcom plot bullshit, and even if we do try to keep an open mind for this romance bs, it still makes zero fucking sense. Why would it has to be mikasa that "frees" Ymir? Oh ofc, cuz mikasa is eren's meatrider the same way ymir to king fritz shitty stockholm syndrome did. Get it? Parallels? GENIUS WRITING 101 BOIS. Smh the most irrelevant mary sue gets to be "the chosen one" Amazing writing. There is some kind of a leluoch part, basically eren did all of this genocide maniac shit to make his friends defeat him so the world would see them as "good" And they can live their lifes peacefully until they died. KEYWORDS UNTIL THEY DIED, ill explain later. However this obviously contradicts the part where eren said he was controlled by ymir and his mind is so messed up that he did the rumbling. And this shit also make zero fucking sense too anyway. Eren did the rumbling and destroyed 80% of humanity (yes he specifically said 80%). Congratulations eren, you just made the remaining 20% hated eldians even more, which is exactly what happened btw ill explained later. Also wouldn't zeke's plan would be miles better? lmaao idk man this whole shit is a fucking mess. It literally sounds like an ai wrote this. Now to the most insulting part, there is an additional chapter (139.5). Where it is shown that in the future, paradis is actually still being annihilated by the remaining outside world with their stealth bombers, and then a kid runs to a tree where ymir falls and get the titan power. LIKE HOLY SHIT THAT IS SO BAD. So everything from the 1st season, every single survey corps that died horribly, all for a sequel bait? Nice 👏👏👏. (i forgot to mention eren eradicate the titan power too, never explained how, never explained why considering it's the only paradis means of defense lmao. He also died in the end btw). There are some other jarring things that i wouldn't really call it just "small plotholes", but cosidering the absolute dumpster fire the whole picture is, i won't mention it. I personally refuse to believe this is what isayama's envisioned but rather being forced by those evil piece of shit publishers to make a sequel bait. The part where eren turns out to be controlled by ymir sounds like a cry for help or sumthing. Tbh this video will age like milk once s4 part 3 came out.
@@JCDentonmanIn the final ending at least; Eren wasn’t controlled but chose to do the rumbling. Also I think Ymir ‘loving’ Fritz was an amazing point because it shows how long lasting and traumatizing gr00ming/stolkhome syndrome is for victims. Eren intended to wipe out all of humanity; not just 80%. He was cut short; his goal was to stop Eldian hatred by getting rid of everyone else. Also it wasn’t ’sequel’ bait, isayama has no intention to continue. The ending was beautiful because it goes to show that no matter what they do or what they could have done, the cycle of hate will always continue.
You can hate Floch but saying he doesn’t have character is stupid, not saying you did, but it’s true. He is blunt and realistic and his growth from just being a one of Erwin’s sacrifice to being one of Eren’s closest ally is great.
The reason I think the character writing is so poignant is that people have realistic traits and are not punished for their choices by some higher moral authority (I.e. the author). There are heros who are fundamentally cowardly or people who are willing to sacrifice or outright slaughter others for their beliefs and are still portrayed as heroic. I really enjoy the realism of the moral ambiguity. It’s not like most typical stories where ‘I can never choose my ideals over my friends’ or ‘getting stronger will somehow solve every problem’
It terms of the art, ive heard the end fight of season 2 compared to literal hell, i think thats a valid term looking like something right out of dantes inferno
depends what you like, but it's always good to start with the bigger ones like naruto, dragon ball z, etc. but newer and shorter anime's may be more appealing for newer viewers cuz better animation + not needing to watch over 1000 episodes lol
You mentioned that "when characters die they're dead". Well Eren did come back after being eaten in season 1, Armin was also given a second chance and Reiner's titanic plot armor must count for something. But I get what you mean #neverforgetpetra
Wow, 2:06 minutes and I completely disagree already. No, most important part are clearly the characters: good characters can pull you through everything. Good characters can make a conversation about cooking thrilling. The story/plot... it's important, but it's just a serious of events; if the people (characters) behind them are not good, it loses its weight after the first watch or even during it. Also, and I mean no disrespect to you in any way, but: Eren "dying" is not new at all, I guess (again, this is not an attack) you don't read that much. It'd be fresh (more or less) had he stayed dead, but I don't know, it didn't fool me for a second. What I mean is that Ned Stark's death did hit me cause it was a (almost) non magical (at that point in the story) world. Here, you at least have to wonder "is he really dead?" because you don't know all the rules. And don't get me wrong: I love this story, but the 1st season is... cool, but that's it. I'd say it won its wing, so to speak, in season 2 with the betrayal and all that. From that point on is non-stop improvement.
@@crabdash7288 It’s kinda hard to judge her as a character right? She’s so obsessed with Eren she seems to have nothing but her badassery going for her. I’m tempted to call her character simple. Smh this videi got to my recommendations 2 years later lmao.
Just wanted to say, that I totally agree with you on every point.
Great montage and grear video
Okay but the edit with fight club psychosis at the beginning goes so hard.
I just noticed Mikasa is the only one not reacting when Historia punches Levi 😂😂
Here in 2024. For quite a few years now i have been a big anime fan, I have watched different styles and story types of anime almost everything the genre has to offer. However I wasnt always the biggest fan, a long time ago i dismissed anime and thought it was a joke. One day i decided to try one anime to prove to myself it wasnt worth the hype. Of course I chose AOT as my first anime and the rest is history, i love this story and everything it holds and i will never regret watching that first episode for the first time
37 x 20 = 740 minutes
740/60 = 12.33333
This man watched 12 hours of anime in one sitting
I literally just started watching attack on titan and now crabdash uploads a video abt it wow
ok
Try avoid spoilers at all costs because many in the AOT fandom take pleasure in destroying the show for newbies.
you need some more subs man good shit
In a way; Attack On Titans is a retelling of Dune
the problem with this anime is it's season release times. Ye some forgot about it temporarily, but eventually came back to it, while others probably permanently dropped it. BTW Floch isn't a bad character he is a very good and necessary character for the role he was written for. Floch is a piece of shit, but a damn good leader.
OK but the edit at the beginning was really good!!!!
that edit at the beginning was the sickest most hottest most dirtiest nastiest rizziest most delicious thing my eyes have ever been blessed with
Greatest piece of fiction, hoping for aoe tho
Aot steal our heart and mind both easily.....
Let's see how this ages when the ending comes
For me the ending is OK but not perfect.but we'll see if they decided to do anime original endings or just adapted the manga ending
@@d.m.g8375 I'm an ending hater who doesn't care about any anime only ending. If they're going to defend this ending, I'd rather they adapt the ending 1:1.
Show the anime community why it butchered Eren's character
@@SerenityOceania But that’s perspective. I feel the further you get past the time-skip, the better Eren’s character gets. Hell, when the manga and anime first began, Eren was the LEAST liked shonen protagonists. I remember being so angry with his irrational decision making because he was so emotional. The freedom fighter being the biggest slave is such a fresh protagonist take, I can’t help but slow clap the writing.
That intro was so cold
The puzzle analogy is SPOT on
Man, good job articulating AOT you fucken legend!
7:30 probably not the best idea to show Armin when talking about characters dying and never coming back
but he never died just on the brink of death
I'm almost a year late to this video but great video it tackled everything I love about AOT accept I love Floch he is my favorite character
But overall great video 👏👏
I love this show. I really enjoyed it. A lot.
The intro was crazy
such a good analysis! you put my thoughts into words
One scene in the first season that reveals a major plot twist in the first season is when eren bangs his head and while he is sitting down , steam starts to come out of his head
Best show of all time. I'm calling it here
I have this question about aot … when did Eren know he was gonna be stopped? At medal ceremony or when Ymir gave him founder’s powers in paths? What was his plan all along? Why did he stop at 80?
in AOT time is convoluted. Past, present and future happening at the same time. That's why Eren act so cold in season 4. He knew no matter what happen his fate cannot be changed.
Greatest anime i have ever watched and one of the best shows hands down
Someone needs to tell me what to watch next. I'll admit, I haven't actually watched many anime, but I cannot fathom anything bein on par with Attack on Titan. I've never been so moved in my life from a TV show, let alone it being an anime. The amount of times this show made me nearly cry as grown man, or blew my mind with plot twist is nuts. I feel like I'm currently going through a breakup because I no longer have this show in my life. While I intend to watch it again in the future, now is too soon. I just hope that I can find something that is almost as powerful as this show.
In case anyone does actually read this comment and wants to recommend an anime that I haven't seen. The anime that I have watched are Dragon Ball/DBZ, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, One Piece, ERASED, Deadman Wonderland, and VINLAND SAGA.
I’m so dumb🤣 every time he pauses it I was like “why do two zeros show up every time he pauses” it took me like 5 times to figure it out 🤣🤣🤣
fave video!! go crab dash!!
What
loved ur vid brozzer!
for as great as the show was the ending was extremely dissapointing
@@rickyv8709 i did reply to you btw
Fantastic video!
I watched the manga ending a year ago so I forgot which part of the last chapter I hated about. I couldnt remember any
Great vid, commenting for the algorithm.
You can hate Floch but saying he doesn’t have character is stupid, not saying you did, but it’s true.
He is blunt and realistic and his growth from just being a one of Erwin’s sacrifice to being one of Eren’s closest ally is great.
eren is literally using him and doesn’t care about him. floch is a pathetic extremist / dictator scarred from war.
But he is right. You dont have to love floch. But he has still substance as a character. Even he had a character developement
He is a shitty character really
Coward?!
In that charge he knew he is about to die
He was same throughout the series
Annoying lapdog
@@dhruvbharija172 He had more development than Mikasa my man
@@biglion4631 in your dreams my man
The reason I think the character writing is so poignant is that people have realistic traits and are not punished for their choices by some higher moral authority (I.e. the author).
Bro floch is pretty normal.he went from a coward with no reason to live to the devil's advocate!
I mean I wouldn’t say NORMAL but he’s had a very interesting character arc
He was always a devil
14:10 thank you MAPPA 🙏
Hey, im at the 21st episode and i just want to ask if there are a lot of spoilers or not in the video?
it's not mainly meant to spoil but the clips used are from all seasons

Floch a bad character?? Bruh he’s one of the best characters in the entire show (that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s likeable btw).
he is very likeable though
never seen an anime character make such sound decisions
Floch is erwins successor.

10:49 floch? ain't no way🗿, he's well written duh!
10:54 YESS THANK YOU SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT
I’ve never watched an anime. Any recommendations?
depends what you like, but it's always good to start with the bigger ones like naruto, dragon ball z, etc. but newer and shorter anime's may be more appealing for newer viewers cuz better animation + not needing to watch over 1000 episodes lol
Re;zero is good
@@crabdash7288 Fun fact: new viewers can't tel animation differences. I've had friends tell me that they can't notice cgi lol
well I guess I would recommend attack on titan lol if the video didnt convince you enough already
If you are a beginner it is best to start with death note, parasyte
You mentioned that "when characters die they're dead". Well Eren did come back after being eaten in season 1, Armin was also given a second chance and Reiner's titanic plot armor must count for something. But I get what you mean #neverforgetpetra
I will come back to this video after s4pt2. Guess what wont age well
ok then
It aged perfectly🤣🤣🤣👎👎👎
Aged like fine 🍷
Enemy is a converted Muslim that prays 5 times a day lmaooooooooo
POV: you’re wondering wtf happened to crabdash
Hey crabdash do you have an opinion on mikasa Ackerman?? Do you like this character, hate it or meh? What’s you personal taste??
mikasa is my mommy
@@crabdash7288 It’s kinda hard to judge her as a character right? She’s so obsessed with Eren she seems to have nothing but her badassery going for her. I’m tempted to call her character simple. At the same time I really like her at times and find myself rooting for her to have a happy ending. Which must mean I’m invested in her. Like I said she’s hard for me to judge.
