Every time I finish listening to this, I want to hear it again. Few recordings have ever moved me as much. When my wife first heard it, she had tears of joy in her eyes. I wish Scarlatti could have heard this.

Übrigens, dank Dir habe ich das heute kennengelernt. Ich spiele auch dieses Stück - und diese Bearbeitung ist fabelhaft. Scarlatti wäre ja sehr beeindruckt, bin sicher : )

Thank you SO much for taking this beautiful piece at the leisurely pace it deserves and giving it its due depth of feeling in this arrangement! It's one of my favorites, yet I always feel disappointed when people skip lightly and briskly through it on the melody, as if it were a set of hurdles in a race, trilling excessively as if the resonant and stately masculinity of the piece was not heard by the player. This is the right pace and depth for the piece, to me. Bravo.

One of my absolute favorite recordings, out of thousands. This music deserves to be better known.

I learned to play this piece when I was 19 YEARS old as a SELF-TAUGHT Classical Guitar learning from the methods of Andres Segovia and Parkening. I was also listening to a GUITAR DUO of this PIECE played on a VINYL 33RPM LP by ALEXANDRE LAGOYA and IDA PRESTI, under the guidance of a High School Mathematics Teacher who was a FANATIC of Classical Guitar playing.

Perhaps the most captivating rendering of this legendary Scarlatti sonata.

"The opening of K. 380 reminds me of birdsong. It progresses into a very smart and regal march, albeit in 3/4 time. The ending features a blend of these two moods with the right hand playing its elegant single-note melody in the higher register and the single bass note providing a stately sense of gravity." This version is beautifully transcribed for two voices.
From an interesting piece by Anitra Pavlico published in 3Quarks Daily. The review explores why Scarlatti is so hard to classify by period and musical style, lying somewhere between Baroque and Classical conventions. Especially interesting is the section exploring the influence of Spanish guitar, especially the bulerias dance, on his compositions...

Utterly gorgeous......I know nothing of these instruments, but, their combined sounds are enchanting, and playing one of my favourite Scarlatti pieces in this lovely arrangement is the icing on the cake!

Peter, sounds awesome, always get a thrill when I hear you on WDEV up in VT on Sundays, they changed owners and do not play classics every Sunday like they used to, Cheers, Sean

The first time I heard this sonata was on a baby einstein video I used to watch with my daughter. It was just a snippet performed on what sounded like a clarinet and went with a frog puppet emerging from a tube and doing a dance.
