I have the green one too, and I think it was the best choice. The gold hands look perfect with the green color. It is also a "strap monster" and I'm wearing it on an antique brown strap.
Great review of a great watch. I've been a fan of Seiko watches for many years, especially the early 80s and 90s models. I also prefer the 36 to 38mm cases, anything over 38 just feels too big on the wrist. Seiko mastered the 38mm cases back in the 80s but for some reason they began making 40mm plus cases, which just don't appeal to me. The 38mm Alpinist is a perfect all round watch, one for every occasion, only without the Rolex price tag. It does look like a Rolex, but it also has its own unique style and heritage. Seiko movements are well engineered too, if looked after, they can last a lifetime. I'm hoping to buy an Alpinist soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Seiko is doing a great job recently brining their heritage into the play. This particular model - Baby Alpinist is great. The design, these dials are great. My only issue with the Seiko is their movements. I have 3 watches on 6R35 movement and only one was somewhat accurate. I think they need to improve their movements.
@@OneManReviews I agree that their movements do need improvement. I think it's an issue with the newer models, as those from the 90s seem to be more robust. The diver's Seiko are more reliable. I'm hoping they introduce somethin on par with Oris or Longines.
@@OneManReviews That's weird. I came to your review because I just bought the blue version. I've been evaluating the 6R35 and in my case is just -2 seconds per day. Is that bad? This is in line with many comments about 6R35. I also have a Baume & Mercier Hampton with ETA 2824 which is around +12 seconds a day. What movement do you guys prefer?
@@jwgallardo You are lucky to have such a good results with the 6R35. I had 3 watches with this movement and only one of them was more or less accurate. Currently I have two. My SPB143J1 is loosing about a minute per day. My Baby Alpinist Blue is loosing about 30 seconds per day.
@@OneManReviews That is a lot. Even reviews in Amazon and other places are around 5 seconds. Mine is probably 3 instead of 2. I will continue checking it. 1 minute is out of range. I would have changed it if that happened to me. Not even the B&M a 15 years old watch exhibit that variance. I'm at 2,300 meters above sea level at 22-24 °C average these days.
I bought the blue one, didn't love the blue leather band, so I ordered a steel bracelet from Strapcode. The Strapcode bracelet is high quality, with screw-in links instead of push pins. The bracelet doesn't look quite as nice as the Seiko one, but will probably last longer.
seikos stock metal bracelet for the baby alpinist is really rattly, and low quality. i just bought one and i really do wanna like the braclet but cant. :(
@@scottparis6355 ye but the braclet is the only bad thing tho. And btw now after i have been wearing it, it actually gets better with time. The China brands.. The only thing they make right is the braclets. Would never trust them with the engineering and assembly of a movement.
I like the blue colour better in general. But in the comparison, yes the blue dial of Baby Alpinist looks better, deeper, plays better in the light and more versatile.
@@achillesdanieladam9486 Yeah. That was my dilemma as well. So I ended up buying two watches. After about a year I've traded the green one on a Smiths Everest. I am thinking of getting a separate jubilee bracelet from something like Uncle Seiko.
Nice review, I have the green one and I love it. The bracelet is lovely (coming from someone who hasn't owned any top end watches)
Thanks. I love these Seiko and the bracelet is very nice indeed, considering the watch price.

Thanks a lot for the video…really has helped me out. Especially the comparison.
Thanks for watching. Glad it was helpful!

I like this one a lot, very explorer like, but still it's own thing. But having a sarb035, I can't really justify another 38mm.
Yes. I like the explorer spirit in this watch plus you are getting data as well with them )

Great review do you prefer blue or green dial
In my case I bought the green first, then blue later!
Nice. I went for the green one mostly because of the bracelet. But now I love to have them too )

Great video! Where did you buy the blue strap for the blue SPB157?
Thank you. They were on the blue leather strap but I didn’t like it much so I tried the NATO strap from my Timex weekender and it worked pretty well )
Great review and where did you get the nato trap from looks nice on this
Thank you. That strap is from my Timex Weekender.
Great review. Can you tell me your wrist size? i have a small 6 inch wrist and curious if its too big for me.
Hi, thank you. My wrist size is 17 cm which is about 7 inch I think. 38 mm watch should be fine for your wrist in my opinion.
cool review!!! however i was more intrigued on what watch are you wearing? that looks like trench watch!
Thanks Jonathan. I’m wearing there longines heritage 1918
Great Video, I am also considering to get one. Can you tell the size of your wrist
They are fantastic watches for the price. My wrist size is around 17 cm
Why do you prefer the blue? Its colour in reality looks awesome in comparison to the green one?

Yes, they look nice.
Love the gray and blue but metal bracelet is only available on the green variant, so sorry Seiko....

My new SPB249J has is losing 2 seconds a day .
I like the brown version but for the price i want it on a bracelet.
Yeah, that's too bad they have only green version on the bracelet.
