WeeScottishLass I'm confused. The video says the link is in the comments, the comments say the link is in the video. Are you keepin that monopoly all to yersel?!
if you're worried about Edinburgh at night, clearly you've never been to Philly. in Edinburgh you're more likely to slip and die on wet cobblestone than get mugged XD
Went to Scotland a number of years ago and I must say that everyone we met was marvelous. Made sure we got on the right bus to go to the castle area, had a great conversation with a bus passenger who had just come from Houston - they always said "cheers" when we got change back and were basically the nicest people. Thanks wee lass for the videos.
I was in Edinburgh on vacation and it was very easy to get around. We just followed the guidemap that our hotel gave us. We also brought books on Edinburgh with us from home. We loved every moment that we spent in Edinburgh and we can wait to go back! Some of the places we loved visiting are Edinburgh castle, of course! Scottish parliament, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Dynamic Earth was amazing, and lots of great restaurants and shops. We have nothing but good things to say about Edinburgh. It's a lovely and elegant city and the people we're so friendly to us.
I had a tooth crown break the last time I was visiting Edimburgh (many years ago, in 1980), and spent my Saturday morning waiting at the local hospital's walk-in clinic where they eventually repaired it. The hospital staff were tremendously apologetic that they had to charge me 2 pounds 50, because I "wasn't a UK citizen" - quite the bargain because a similar repair here in the states probably would've cost me well over $100, even way back then. I'll always have fond memories of all the nice people we met in Scotland, Wales, and England across our touring! We stayed in Loch Lomond after Edinburgh, where years later our B&B land lady sent us a snail-mail post card to tell us her new address after she had moved - so we could find her the next time we visited. You have a most beautiful country!
I was walking along Princes St. and heard a tourist say "That's Arthurs Seat over there, we can climb it later" while pointing to Calton Hill. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was next to the Crags which were stretching out in front of us to the right.
Got to Edinburgh a day ahead of our scheduled tour so we could dispose with jet lag, and to have an extra day to explore. We found it impossible to use the little start map we found in a tourist brochure. Three times we pulled that thing out, and before we could get it oriented with the streets we were on - locals came up to volunteer directions (!). Went into a pub to get my haggis neeps, and tatties and the local at my elbow wanted to help the bartender with my choice of brews by offering me a taste of his (!) These folks are the best!
Hoy, Mosco. Ask Goldie-lochs about the "Gonna be a bear" meme since you are more likely to do a reading/skit, like your exercise and road rage vids. Yes, I know much of the road rage was NOT scripted, but you know what I mean. Many hearts are with you in support of your trying to be healthier, Lass
You don"t need Google Maps for that. Edinburgh is covered with old cemeteries and the shortest route IS often through a cemetery. Just don't stay there.
We watched your video before visiting Edinburgh and when we got there we recited your tips all the time. The fake-beggar thing espacialy helped us out. Or once we wanted to go from Grassmarket St to George IV bridge. That didn't work out cause it is above and we didn't want to climb. Although we were really tempted by your description to ask a Scot on Princes street where the castle is and film the reaction... Thx a lot for your informative and funny video! It enriched our stay in Edinburgh.!
If you don't like to climb Edinburgh is not really the right place to visit. The castle, the Old Town, Calton Hill, Arthurs' Seat, the zoo on Corstorphine Hill, everything is built on hills there.
Always enjoyed walking Edinburgh streets at Night, When the clubs close, the people walk home roving in groups, and were happy to have me join them, all very friendly and taking care of their Pals as they went along home. Never did I encounter anything suspicious, or dreadful of danger. And, I still have a few copies of the Big Issue. Nothing but good memories.
In America you have to walk past homeless people having seizures from heroin injections multiple times a day. There are some streets I've walked in that you can't even walk on the sidewalk because too many people are sleeping on it. It can't be that bad right? Scotland actually has a social safety net.
You're a real craic miss, thanks for the advise...travelling there to guide a bunch of Italians this month... some of your tips were real great! thanks!
My comment should have said, "can't wait to go back to Scotland" My keyboard has to catch up with my fast typing, lol! We also had the honour of seeing a taping of Antiques Road Show while we were on the Royal Yacht Britannia and I must say that the tea was fabulous on the Britannia! The soup and little sandwiches were amazing!! I love your videos!!
Glasgow city shit hole. Glasgow city mission chartiy has racist and plenty Discrimination. Don't forget there is Scott's living around the world . Foringers even from common wealth countries get treated like crap in Glasgow .
How many murders does Glasgow have a year? I know someone who got shot in the head just walking into the wrong area in the USA. There was a drive by shooting less than a block from me last month. The small city I live in has homeless tent cities and a very high crime rate. We have over 1000 violent crimes and 5000 property crimes a year. It can't be that bad right? Just normal street shit. Don't stare at people. Don't take money out of a ATM at night. Leave your car doors locked while driving. Carry self defense tools. Normal shit here.
so thats why i got so lst trying to use google maps. Ah well you know a good tip. If your lost and want to find the city center, just look for the scot monument and keep heading that way.
lol, thats safe . I was visiting my friend at uni when i got lost and the bus dropped me off in a weird place because they where doing roadworks at the bus station.

As always Mosco, super helpful and informative. I now have a proper game plan for what to do if I ever make it to Edinburgh: Step 1: Obtain proper local map (or better yet a sweet local RUclipsr who appreciates shameless flattery from some witty Yanks :) Step 2: Immediately find a knife shop and purchase a cane sword or similar concealable stabby object capable of inspiring pant-shitting fear. Step 3: Finance trip by sitting near an ATM, waiting for less savvy tourists to withdraw large sums of cash, and brandish aforementioned stabby object to inspire their generosity and donate the cash to my wellbeing. Step 4: Find out where the nearest optometrist (eye doctor if you call something else) is to Princes Street and amuse self by directing idiots there if asked where the castle is.
I don't know if its a good thing or not but I understand Mosco's humor! Mosco is funny. All joking aside though. I have seen Wolters World videos on traveling around the world and Mosco's advice is spot on.

The problem with the advice on being picky with cash machines is I've never known a city like edinburgh with such a low cash machine per capita, if you walk past the cash machine cause someone dogey is sitting next to it, you might not find another cash machine for months.
Wow mosco I had no idea you have a blog now. :D I found this through old videos and it popped into my recommendations. Loved this video lol All true! Was in Edinburgh 2 months ago and there was beggars in every corner XD Inverness is NOT much better!! Looking forward for the next one!
Aww I will definitely keep these in mind for next month! Funny you said to have someone with ya when you're walking at nights. I'll be by myself most of the time. Should I just carry a bag of chips around in case someone wants to mess with me? AHAHA
I've never had any trouble using Google maps in Edinburgh, I mean I can see potential trouble around the city centre, but elsewhere I think you'd probably be fine.
The actual Greyfriars Bobby statue is to my mind very dissapointing . The plinth it stands on has two levels one a fountain at human height (used to have two cups chained to it). And one at ground level for dogs to drink from . However the water was dissconected in 1957.
You’re definitely right about the maps 😂 I used Apple Maps and got turned around a few times! And oh my God, the stairs! 😣 even with comfy shoes, we were exhausted! Other than that, loved Edinburgh so much 😃 💙
The Google maps thing is so true from Glasgow down at the fringe and the you gave is exactly what happened Love your channel they're are so little channels dedicated to Scotland it was a joy to find you
I always say that edinburgh castle is my halls of residence and i think grannie morag has made some scones with a pot of tea if u want to join me an grannie morag (for she loves vistitors)
I was in Edinburgh last October and this Chinese woman asked me and my friend where the train station was. The funny thing is it was behind us and she walked straight past us in the wrong direction even though we told her it was behind us😂😂😂😂
The question that triggers me the most is when someone (probably someone drunk or a tourist) asks you "So eh, what time does the one o'clock gun go off at?" 😂😐
10 things not to do in America. 10. Do not flash cash and keep it in your front pocket. 9. When you are in one state, do not rave about another. Americans are very patriotic about their country, but more so about the state they live in. 8. Americans are for the most part are very kind, helpful, and happy people, but do not do well with condescending foreigners. When you are a guest in our country, just try to fit in the best you can and go with the flow. Americans love different accents, people from other countries, and people who share their countries laws, their people, their customs, traditions, and just information on their day and life in their country. We crave knowledge. 7. Do NOT talk about religion, politics, abortion, LGBT or give any advice on the subjects because it leads to hostility. 6. America is filled with different cultures, languages, ethnicities, and is made up of just about every nationality, so if you do not understand diversity or it makes you feel uncomfortable, the America is not the country you will want to visit. 5. America is a huge huge country, but most people will visit only the east and western coastal regions, thinking they represent the entire United States. Most Americans cannot stand that because most all states are very different and most states really dont like NY and California except for tourism. (little note: If there is ever a threat to America, we all love each other and become a united front). 4. Do not be a picky eater. When someone offers you food try it. We love trying a variety of foods (JUST TRYING, NOT LIKING OR FINISHING A PLATE OF IT). 3. Do not be plastic or act like someone your not. We will see right through it. Instead, just BE YOUR SELF and people will love you for who you are. 2. Do not go into the ghettos or gang areas 1. Don't be arrogant nor condescending. Do not even try to hint that your country is better than ours. Again, be friendly, learn all uou can and take it back with you and leave some knowledge here about yourself.
Great comment, thank you for this! Point 8 make me almost cry, it's brilliant written , it touch my heard. It's better i travel to the USA instead of Edingburgh.
Scotland is easily one of my favorite places that I’ve yet to visit. I’m from the southern United States and can’t wait to be able to visit Scotland. Right now, the rest of Europe seems like a clusterfuck to me.

Don't mind this guy.. He's just an antagonist. xDD
Look for the castle up a really steep hill, on a big rock
It’s friggin extinct I should know I’m from Scotland
Bjorn Galle it’s the big volcano you can see from almost everywhere in the city.
Bjorn Galle under the castle
I live in Drylaw in Edinburgh and its like minecraft as soon as night falls all the junkies come out
Wow mosco I had no idea you have a blog now.
Oh my goodness! True story on getting lost using Google Maps! We were there in March and pretty much spent the whole time back tracking!
Do you think platform heels (about 2/3 inches high) would be okay?
Could you do one for Aberdeen?
Aberdeen sounds beautiful right away but im in colorado during covid and cant drive the hour it takes to get up in my mountains
Please do a video about the Greyfriars Bobby Fountain
The actual Greyfriars Bobby statue is to my mind very dissapointing . The plinth it stands on has two levels one a fountain at human height (used to have two cups chained to it). And one at ground level for dogs to drink from . However the water was dissconected in 1957.
One thing is don't walk out in the road and expect cars to stop. Also cobbled streets dont mean it's not a road or that cars don't have right of way
If you're going to be traveling in the U.S. then this video will be very helpful (seems people are the same wherever you go).
Absolutely brilliant.
Where is the Castle?
Don't know, but if you go to the highest Point you get a good Chance of spotting it from there...
Thanks for the tips! :)
Out of the three where is a better place to drink, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Whitburn?
You’re definitely right about the maps 😂 I used Apple Maps and got turned around a few times!
And oh my God, the stairs! 😣 even with comfy shoes, we were exhausted!
Other than that, loved Edinburgh so much 😃 💙
It's impossible to overlook the Castle! LOL
The Google maps thing is so true from Glasgow down at the fringe and the you gave is exactly what happened Love your channel they're are so little channels dedicated to Scotland it was a joy to find you
spot on lass , well done for speaking the truth , about bloody time i say . as for glasgow , it smiles better .. x
I always say that edinburgh castle is my halls of residence and i think grannie morag has made some scones with a pot of tea if u want to join me an grannie morag (for she loves vistitors)
I was in Edinburgh last October and this Chinese woman asked me and my friend where the train station was. The funny thing is it was behind us and she walked straight past us in the wrong direction even though we told her it was behind us😂😂😂😂
Not every city hides its station in a deep valley. Which was once partially a loch (lake) and became a garbage dump afterwards.
Thanks for the video! :3
The question that triggers me the most is when someone (probably someone drunk or a tourist) asks you
"So eh, what time does the one o'clock gun go off at?"
😂😐
I ended up one the wrong side of northbridge trying to find studio 24
Are there any phrases or gestures that tourists might come across while traveling there?
I want to come to Scotland and try and get Nessy for my stake house one day. >;-) Wish you would show some vids from around your town Lass.
2. Do not go into the ghettos or gang areas
1. Don't be arrogant nor condescending. Do not even try to hint that your country is better than ours. Again, be friendly, learn all uou can and take it back with you and leave some knowledge here about yourself.
Absolutely...everything you said!!!
Europe is really cool, you should visit as much as you can! We have a large variety of everything: culture, countries, food, events etc. Scotland of course is amazing bit the rest of Europe is pretty nice too.
@@hot_damn99 of course! My family tree spreads all across western and Central Europe, so there’s no mistaking the diversity of the continent. I’ll most likely visit once I graduate
The castle LOL! Im over here thinking "why would you go to Edinburgh and not look up where the castle is?!" and then you say the same thing lol. And about google maps..i've been using that to plan my whole trip this August (face palm!)
