Yes with the part you need to be careful on the MB, the SH and the TH because you need to convert the old parts. I am working on a video just for part to help.
Can I upgrade my units from 7 stars to modern without having to get 7.1 or 7.2 first

no is base on server time and unit. to get prototypes you need to destroyed 7.0 and up units
