I used to use the 40 lap rule 😂
I usually do the 15 lap rule...sometimes it works ...sometimes i say next time i come...
I use the 10 lap rule… just I don’t jump it after because it’s sketchy af
I usually just hold the camera....its even safer
I usually just watch the videos, that’s way safer
@@fishh_3984 I usually don’t even come out. Even safer
Seemed like he came up with those rules as he was going 😂
He definitely made that shit up as he was going 😂
Trust me he did not just come up with this shit haha .. he is well known in the mx community
Thing that helped me was to follow someone that has it down .. match their speed and just follow
Thats how I learned to jump. Following a pro rider. I was amazed at the speed required to hit some jumps. A bit unnerving but after doing it once you get over it.
Could have used this last week Albert! Shpp, nah good stuff. We learn a lot from these little videos. Good job 243
I love how you end it with just eh maybe not, always amazing content
Local track to me, I clear all jumps but this one. I'll hit most anything. I'm mid 40's self employed, on a yz450. This is more intimidating than video looks. Called a step up due to 2 nd hump being higher and peaked, landing is higher and drop lower than takeoff. Under jump it and your casing it, over jump it and your landing somewhat on the flat. Just before it is a sharp left turn and a quick single with little takeoff room. So when I hit that supercross style left corner and the single at a good speed I feel my body position and wrists maybe out of shape to hit that step up and making me unsure of my speed needed. But AJ said it right now that I roll it and have rolled it so many times, seems I never want to hit it. Some day.
this is the best way for sure. I've had to do this many times when I was racing at tracks I was new to. when you only have the quick practice before heats start to learn the track u do what u gotta do haha
Always good to have somebody to pace with over it.
It’s wild how terrifying small jumps can be when you’re starting out tho. Hell, even the biggest jumps on the track make me feel like a puss for not hitting them after I finally do
As a teenager, my buddy built a track on his back acres. It had a steep double right out of a tight first gear left. It looked massive to me. My neighbor was a local expert and hit it on his second lap. He then did it on my bike first try. I hit it right after and the size of that "impossible" jump shrank to nothing.
Half jump is good but make sure you land right. I tried this on a brand new 70’ triple and broke both wrists without falling off the bike.
If at a new track, I like to follow someone else who’s done it matching their speed.
I definitely learnt something. Baby steps can be required to conquer something you fear
AJ you are awesome would love to get some training but I’m in Australia
That was perfectly well said
Best rule for any extreme sport!
I always found it easier to just keep in tandem with an experience rider and mimic their movements around the track then you'll find yourself focusing on that rather then trying to size up every obstacle
Gajser learning to double, nice .. ;)
Tried this now I'm in a wheelchair 😀
Moto is 90% mental.
Agreed, it's why stupid people like me are so good at it. Cant think but im good at twisting my wrist.
The two lap rule with two buffer laps bc riding is fun and who doesn’t wanna do more laps
Well said no I have to go try something like that
I did pretty much exactly what he said except kept it at a 3 lap. OR I've eyeballed something that wasn't really supposed to be made into a double or triple and hit it the 2nd lap or whenever I felt I needed to make time up.
I learned right when you said if you keep going you will only allow it to get bigger and bigger
Nice bike I just got a 2022 ktm 150 aswell
Lap 1 - Walk the jump, picture yourself going from A to B
Lap 2 - Roll the Jump
Lap 3 - You can jump halfway off onto the side of the track or jump halfway in between
Lap 4 - Fully commit 100%
I ride mountain bikes and i call it the rule of 3. Most if the jumps i do are gaps tho so i do 1 run in 2 run in and hit it 3rd go. If i dont hit it 3rd go i go home and try again another day
Good tip.
Would you recommend an rm 85 for a starter bike for a 13 year old? 5”3?
Same started 12 years old on rm 85 I’m on a 450 now
Solid info
First lap, eyes closed, SEND IT
That’s how I used to roll lmao
Use your boys speed to hit it. Me and my dad raced Motocross for years and I was the Youngblood so he said I would bounce off the ground easier then he would LOL. So he used to follow my speed on the big jumps
I’ve been trying a big step up for a few months now and I keep hitting the case pad/knuckle of the jump and I can’t clear it
Did his 4 lap at Iron Dog cleared a triple never think of clearing.
What track is this?
This is my local track, this jump scares the hell out of me. This guy has some serious balls
Mx23?
My home track so I'ma hit it
preride, reride, freeride 🤟
I jumped ever jump in district 5never though about the jump until the corner before then hammer down
SOO SO TRUE 👍 🙌 👌
Just like a drill sergeant, "it's like on the third attempt you are going or else! I believe that whole heartily either you do it or you never will.
I like the 4 lap rule. However I probably had somewhere in the 30s lap rule 😂
Mx23 baby
For me it's more of a 40 lap rule. If I find myself doing a bunch of run ups and not hitting it I'll wait for another day to hit it. If I have doubt I'll just wait until the day I finally say screw it and hit it on the first try.
Mx 23!
52 stopped counting the laps 10 yrs ago 😭
Mx 23?
Yes
I live by this one. If you ain’t hitting it early, you’ll prob be too late when you do.
I always use the two year rule
Always second lap
This is like a skateboarder saying go fast and commit 💀
I did the 1 lap rule 😂
in your head it’s gonna get bigger bro that’s deep
yeah I lurn something I'll break a hip tomorrow
Even more nerve racking when you build your own jumps 😂
In short, send it!
I thought that guy was mark Rober?!
Okay so that totally sounded like he made up the whole for lap rule right there on the spot lol
I learn something new, how to count to 4 with 3 fingers 😉
I use the 4 year rule. Then biff it once I attempt it.
Looks like mx23 a little
“He doesn’t really want to hit it”
“Nope”
“Let’s utilize the 4 lap rule”
“No”
1 lap rule, get towed and send it
2 lap rule nesc
That's what I did back in the '80s didn't know it was a rule, I thought it was just common sense
Lap 1 roll, 2 single roll, 3 deep breathing lots of throttle revving going fast in the turns, 4 🌭 🌭 🐩
Eat hot dogs and pet a poodle on the 4th lap?
The forth rule sounds sketchy and is probably gonna hurt a little
Do it on the first lap! Get behind the 7 year old on the 50 and pace him!
Sounds like mark rober
Brain injuries can be forever. They also lack some important safety gear.
AJ
Hey, hey, AJ will not pull the bandage on 3......he's gonna do it on 2...shhh don't let him know I told you.
or just follow your friend off it first lap
That’s just the Buffer. Wait Bruce is out there too with you guys
Lap one.... you've already hit it a couple times.... this doesn't add up lol
I left taking too long
That's a second lapper..... one to sight one to hit. Too easy.
Who takes more than a lap to hit something? Make a lap to you can make sure the landing isn't washed and rutted out, 2nd lap pin it to win it. Always remember over jumping is far less brutal than comming up short.
Who do you think. The same people you're telling to don't come up short..
Depends on the track really. Alot of guys don't realize those big scary jumps are actually safer than a small built jump. Big jumps are forgiving for the most part. Small are not. And the small jumps don't intimidate say a D class guy so theyre more apt to try it and wad up after being kicked weird. I've seen alot of guys go over the bars watching some of us hit lines that were sketchy but don't look intimidating because they're not as big.
Ddf
that jump is easy lol
You need to learn how to ride first, before giving pointers.
😂
Yeah that’s bad advice.
whats crazy to me is that im aware that for someone who is actually more novice, this might feel like a big jump to them.... but ive been racing for 20 years now and this is nothing, obviously, but perspective still blows my mind lol
Sounds made up on the spot but it's still true
Is this a joke?
Where's the double??🤔
In all seriousness, thanks for posting, quality content indeed 🤙
"WwWhAht happened to the FOUR lap rule!?" 🤌😂
Mx 23 baby
