Ginktom Videos prods Sony was always ahead of the game in terms of product design acumen. Their phones were really well made and sophisticated in design, but were never boring with their pops of color or their frequent use of interesting form factors.
But every best part, always comes with weakness. Xenon flash are really big consume of the battery. It reduce the life power into just for few hour or just one day using...
Amazing how seeing an old phone can bring back so many memories. Phones back in the mid to late 2000s had unique designs and features but I always went with a Cybershot phone. Now pretty much all phones look the same, do the same. I remember the amazing pictures that could be captured from such a small device. It was mind blowing. Now we all carry around a compact DSLR in our pockets with their time of flight sensors etc. Back in the mid 2000s it was cool to have auto focus and a flash 😂
I had a Sony Ericsson K850i and it was the best phone at the time. He had a superb camera that was at a professional level. Its design and functions made it stand out among other models of that manufacturer. A top-notch device that, unfortunately, in today's smartphone era, hardly anyone owns. I really miss those times.
Looking back at photos I took on my C905 way back in the day, if you look at full res camera samples from it online, it still easily holds up to midrange smartphones of today *thirteen* years later. It was an incredible cellphone camera for the time.
I wish that more phones today would utilize manual or automatic camera lens covers like the ones that are on these Cybershot phones from Sony Ericsson. It’s such a simple way to protect the lens from scratches or other damage, and because the camera app would automatically come on when the lens cover was opened it was so much more convenient to start the camera than to search around for the camera icon within the software user interface. I’d love to see a Leica smartphone with a sliding lens cover!
The back of the phones are very beautifully designed! It really makes them look like actual compact cameras... I really love the sliding mechanism to protect the camera lenses. Why can't we have this kind of design for today's smartphone? Also, we need to bring back Xenon flashes! It really useful for taking photos at night. We cant always rely on Night Mode honestly...
Hope phones got more "personalities" and specialty uses like this phone. Imagine a Cybershot phone with not too fancy general specs but has GREAT camera, if that realized, it probably could rival a great digicam available in the market Or a Walkman phone with great speakers, great included earbud/IEM, etc and has feature dedicated and integrated with popular streaming service like Spotify . Specialized things brings customization, brings personality, brings greater and more fun options than just searching for reviews and benchmarks. Reading my local buyer's guide magazine/tabloid feels fun although I only have money to buy the budget ones. . Now we only got Gaming Phones for specialty phone. It's great to have, although I prefer handheld consoles which filled with more polished selections of games.
I had the K800i, K550i, K850i, C902, C905 on the Cyber Shot side. Walkmans I had the W810i, W850i, W880i, W910, W902 and the W995i. Great phones of the time.
K800i has the most detail and sharp images of all 3.2mp camera ever. It was amazing! Came then the C905, it's images looked like it came from a dedicated pocket camera. The images from was sharp and detailed. The K850 was disappointing because the images were soft. The C902 has the same soft images. I'm not sure with the rest. I owned those phones along with XpressMusic and a Walkman phone.
The Sony Ericsson k770i was my dad's old but it was destroyed and I found that camera slide thing in my back yard and my dad found the old Pc suite disk too
Given how easy it is to now charge devices anywhere and on the move, I'd snap up a Xenon flash phone if someone made one. Doesn't matter if it impacts battery life. The social media user market is crying for one.

Me in 2010: Beating my high score in Snake Xenzia on Nokia 3310.
