I love this version better than the other they always play on the radio! Cant go wrong with beach boys they always remind u of summer and good times. plus its impossible to be sad/depressed when listening to them their an instant antidepressant. Thank u boys for ur awesome music!
I didn’t know this version existed since I only knew the radio version. I’m 55 and discovered this album version on a greatest hits CD a few years ago. On our family drives cross country every summer our whole family gets a kick out of the ending.
I still have the original in the corner of my room. C1965 I lived and breathed this album, just loved it! We used to sing Barbara Ann in 7th Grade chorus, Amanda
Lyrics: Ah, ba ba ba ba Barbara Ann Ba ba ba ba Barbara Ann Oh Barbara Ann, take my hand Barbara Ann You got me rockin' and a-rollin' Rockin' and a-reelin' Barbara Ann ba ba Ba Barbara Ann Went to a dance, lookin' for romance Saw Barbara Ann, so I thought I'd take a chance With Barbara Ann, Barbara Ann Take my hand You got me rockin' and a-rollin' (Oh! I had heard Jan & Dean where down the hall at the studio working on a recording of their own and Dean Torrence took a break... walk down to see what the Beach Boys were doing... they were working on this album.. was said they were drinking and having some fun so Dean joined in.. heard it may have been his idea to play around and record this song for fun... Not sure if this is correct but he did sing on this and it turned into a big hit for the Beach Boys.
I read online that the Beach Boys were fans of the Crestones, and that they mention the Crestones in this song. I don't hear it. Does anyone know the story behind it?
A few years back I got talked into taking a friend's friend to her Senior Prom. We met 2 days before the Prom, and she decided I was the one that was going(In my NAVY uniform). In a couple of weeks we celebrate 36 years of marriage! Oh yeah,...Her name...Barbara Ann.
This was one of our 2017 archives. Friends, a lot (and I mean A LOT!) has happened since then. For starters, this classic could use another 'restoration Pass' (or two) to build on what we did in 2017, especially now. I hope to eventually make that happen at some point. But there is much more work to do. Let me explain. Folks, are you aware that there exist many, many legacy artists that unfortunately, the digital age of music has NOT been so kind? For example, one of them is Pop/Country artist, B. J. Thomas. So my studio, LegacyVMP Studio, is on a mission to try and help do our part to change this kind of business climate within the legacy audio industry that we feel is long overdue. I think the time is right for studios like mine (and others!) to take what technology now affords us and turn it into something that can be very positive for the industry as a whole. Will you help us do that? Here are some of our more recent restorations to help illustrate what I am talking about. I want to stress with these: 1.) the power of recent advances in audio restoration technology in particular to allow studios like mine to do what we do! 2.) I want you to hear just how far our sound has come (maturity-wise) since we began this channel in the fall of 2014. First, here is one you might recognize from Glen Campbell 🙂:ruclips.net/video/l17HWcbU9lI/видео.html. Or, how about this from Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 that you might also recognize 🙂:ruclips.net/video/X7omaR4gS_A/видео.html. In addition, here is one or two (or three or four 🙂) from B. J. Thomas: (ruclips.net/video/RLjsKECP3lk/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/5yLgrE7-B-0/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/BFI8yBcX0qE/видео.html, and ruclips.net/video/ABPOzijuam4/видео.html). Thanks for listening!
Exactly! I only wish. But thank goodness for today's incredible mastering studios that have revived so many of their early classics and finally, finally released true stereo masters, along with restored Mono masters, to these classics. This is one of them, if I recall, that I had to go to the UK pressings to get a decent Mono sound. Unfortunately, much of the Beach Boys earlier music catalog, like the Beatles early stuff, is a mere reflection of the times and so there either does not exist a true analog stereo master release from back then, or stereo was indeed, the after-thought, and in both of there cases, by the groups own choice. Both Wilson and the Fab Four WANTED their music done in Mono only in those early days!! Thanks for listening and commenting and I hope you come back often. Take care for now.
I love this version better than the other they always play on the radio! Cant go wrong with beach boys they always remind u of summer and good times. plus its impossible to be sad/depressed when listening to them their an instant antidepressant. Thank u boys for ur awesome music!
Hi, Rachel, this is the very same version showcased in their record. Only the intro and outro parts were (heavily) cut out.
Apparently they were at a party when this was recorded which is why there are other people clapping, laughing and chatting in the background :)
It was recorded over several studio sessions, with the background voices and laughter added afterward.
You were lied too because this wasn't recorded at a party

I like this version better
I didn't know about this version until I heard it on an AM radio station today.

There is an interview with Dean here on RUclips and you're right. He's signing the falsetto with Brian.
@@schmozzer At the end of the song Carl says "Thanks Dean".
This was the Beach Boys' attempt to sing country and western music!
Brian Wilson and Dean Torrence singing the highs together!
Hal & His Famous Ashtrays!
