Well pain is the feeling you get when your body is telling you something is wrong. Buy if you’re immortal it doesn’t matter what’s wrong with your body since you’re always going to be fine. So it’s possible that you will evolve to no longer feel pain since it’s not necessary.

One of the most profound things ive ever read was in a Jojo ‘s bizarre adventure manga, where an “immortal being” was stratosoned into space, but he was completely stuck and alone, so he simply just “stopped thinking”.

BTW, an even more profound manga to enjoy would be “Phoenix: Future” by Osamu Tezuka.
There was an interesting concept about immortality I read awhile back from a book that claims to be channeled. The channeled being was asked what would happen to someone if their body could never experience natural death. They said that after enough centuries or millennia had passed, the person would gain enough maturity, philosophical, and spiritual prowess that they would consider they had learned all they could from this life and would become disinterested in continuing to live. Due to their heightened spiritual awareness, their soul would simply choose to leave its body while the body was still functional so they could pass on to higher states of evolution.
