- In this episode, Tom modifies and customizes a set of SpaceX, Falcon 9, Grid Fin-inspired coasters… well, “Not-a-Coasters" actually. The Not-a-Coaster is a playful bit of merchandise from the online store of our friend Tim Dodd, The Everyday Astronaut. Stick around to learn about the Everyday Astronaut, the idea behind the Not-a-Coaster, and unwindulax to the soothing sounds of Tom, sanding and painting to some chill out tracks.
As promised, here are "Dodd’s deets", so you can follow and support his work as the Everyday Astronaut:

Love the partially ablated Not-A-Coaster! 🤩

Amazing production.
Look in the description for our producer Tyler, so gifted! I am always amazed that the sometimes deflating material I produce on set becomes what it does during Tyler's post production prestidigitation. And there you go, with all that alliteration I think we have his Variety headline.
What a cool way to take these “not a coasters” to the next level! Your hallmark attention to detail and master craftsmanship are always so fun to watch. Bravo!
Thanks! We got some other SpaceX themed things in the works, Tesla as well if that interests you, who knows, could be the same project ; )
I really like the contrast you created between the 4 pieces. Great work!
Thank you! I think my disillusion with the titanium finish is that I used a dark grey primer and a flat black paint. In the past, when I was painting props like air-soft, foam or rubber weapons, I used a light grey primer and a flat black paint and had I done that here, it would have produced the familiar effect for me.
Lookin’ good. Great work as always! I definitely got into the groove.
Yes. We need to post a 10hr Study Mix. Thanks for the comment!
VERY COOL I went into this video thinking it was actually a coaster 😂 but came out with interesting knowledge about the space x rocket
NSFW! Not Safe For Wood. 😂
I love the science lesson presented alongside the creative....But the charcoal grating sounds are just...heinous, yes heinous. I can't even or odd with that. I think about it and I want to vomit. But LOVED the results.
That nails on a chalkboard thing is called ASMR, all the kids are doing it these days. 😂 Ever since the character played by Tom Cruise in Magnolia mispronounces heinous as hein-ee-ous, and then furiously corrects himself to heinous, I always say it twice the same way. So thank you for that even if you weren't aware. Thanks for hanging in with us thru the cringe!
I actually like the charcoal sound - especially the bit where Tom drops the stick and it gives a metalic ring.
@@zerodbu The audiophile speaks. As everyone knows and frequently says, one persons misophonia is another persons treasure. Glad we brought it to you with rigor.
