why does it seam like there is a common theme around the far eastern part of essos that we know of, cannibal sands is self explanatory, the people of the grey waste go on constant rading missions to surive, the area around k'dath has creatures that want to kill you, the people of the thousand islands are strange and fear the water and the fish around there is unusable and taste terrible, we dont know much about mossovy but we can assume there is a reason for that (perhaps the people who tried to explore it never came back), there is some strange looming darkness over asshai and stygai and the surrounding area. it seems like everything in that area is trying to kill you or it is cursed in some way so as to screw you over somehow through eating a malformed fish.
I'm thinking of being the same as the European point-of-view on Africa, the Middle East and Asia during the Middle Ages, when except for a few who were there, the only information were wonderous tales about monsters and weird practices. So some of these Essosi lands might be more normal than we think, just that the folk in Westreros have no real info on them.
Titus Iacob But I think some of it is true because it is Game of Thrones. White Walkers are hell. Hell I believe the demons and the ill-tasting fish too.
jared hayward Its kind of Georges love letter to HP Lovecraft. Theres a city in the East called Kadath which is directly taken from one of Lovecrafts books, same with Carcosa, another city supposedly in Eastern essos and theres the island of Leng, another location from lovecraft. All these locations are fairly different from Lovecrafts locations however I have a hunch that the original locations have a bit of influence on the ones in essos. For those who dont know him HP Lovecraft was a horror writer from the 1930s who invented eldrich horror. Pretty much the idea that humans are insignificant and that there are beings far more powerful than us out there living among us and on our planet. They are usually so much more advanced than us that we cant even comprehend their existence. Which fits Eastern Essos pretty well with its dark gods, non humans, powerful unspeakable horrors from the shadow and mysterious groups all over the place
Great video really love learning about these places from you, keep them coming! I saw on the map east of Ibbish in the mountains a place called 'Realm of Jhogwin'? Is there any info on that or a video in the works?
So Ibbish are vikings, Dothraki are kind of inspired by Huns in Mulan, Jogos Nhai are Mongol, YITI Empire are like the dynasty of Empire of China, Ghiscari Empire are like the Ottoman, The Westerosi are the European Empires and Nations, Summer Isles are the madagascar, Basilisk Isles are the Carribean Isles And Asshai people doesn't fit in the group. I know where you got inspiration G.R.R. Martin, but building the world lore just by yourself is another kind! A true savage writer and a beast of imagination.
* Ibbenese like too wrestle * Ib is far east *The Stark's won Bear Island in a wrestling match * Bear Island is in the far west *Children of The Forest have lived south of Ib Bear Island was a Ibbish Colony/Outpost and the Stark's thought them Ironborn.
the Mormonts tell people they mate with bears and pass down their name even to female descendants. Also the island was originally ironborn but the Winter King wrestled them off the island and brought the Mormonts from the mainland
so, there were children of the forest in Essos. just like in Westeros the children were small, shy forest folk that after they almost got extinct went into hiding in the deep woods.
fran laris Martin has noted that they are a "what if" kinda race that demonstrates what would have become of the neanderthals if they had survived to the Middle Ages.
Neanderthals are pretty much tall Dwarves-I should know I've seen Dwarves-except She was Black(her fro went to her cheeks) and with a Sasquatch and Ork's help (the Ork was White) took out a Grey Alien
Can you also do Near Mossovy? Because that would be where movie adaption Arya would end up and where proably also long lost desencdants of the House Stark could be, if Brandon the Shipwright was successful 1000 years ago
I dont think the Ibbinese are described as short. Just squat. They were meant to be neanderthals who had similar characteristics to how they are described
What, how? The Basque are usually tall and almost all them are blonde. They don't live on an island either. And are not mistrusting towards foreigners.
They are like Scandinavians or even blonder! The whaling part is true though. Anyway, I think the Basque have a reputation of a very noble warrior people in general, unlike the Ibbenese.
Luiz Gauziski not really. George RR Martin said they were meant to be neanderthals. Like a what if situation if neanderthals in our own history werent wiped out
Gimley confirmed.
=) Hard not to notice homage towards dwarves
They’re Neanderthal

You have Yi Ti out there
That or the maesters who write about these places are just plain racist about cultures they don't understand.
So bassically sea dwarves?
Ioustinianous Basileus
They also could be Neanderthals
Nice 👍
Great video really love learning about these places from you, keep them coming! I saw on the map east of Ibbish in the mountains a place called 'Realm of Jhogwin'? Is there any info on that or a video in the works?
TheHighGuard UK Thank You! You're gonna hear about Realm of Jhogwin in the next video.

ScrivaTV Forgot to subscribe but watched a lot of your videos, just subscribed and i think you deserve so much more!
Well, if I had to cross the Thousand Islands where those green people live, I'd say the world ends there too. And never bring the subject up again.
Mossovy even more badass. A bunch of witchers out in the forest hunting demons
Corlys turned back after the Thousand Islands. Maybe he doesn't like Salad
Thanks for shortening the into! I enjoy your vids
Sounds like they're inspired by the Scandinavians and the Norse, and their physical descriptions seems like they're inspired by the dwarves.
Dwarf Vikings ;)
They're more like Neanderthals. Though very old stereotypical neanderthals.
Asshai is India and the Free Cities are Continental Europe.
Or the Dothraki are inspired by… Huns from history… not a Disney film. But real life
the Ibbenese are Neanderthals who also do whaling, given their appearance and incompatibility with regular humans
Mossovy is Russia
* Ibbenese like too wrestle
* Ib is far east
*The Stark's won Bear Island in a wrestling match
* Bear Island is in the far west
*Children of The Forest have lived south of Ib
Bear Island was a Ibbish Colony/Outpost and the Stark's thought them Ironborn.
the Mormonts tell people they mate with bears and pass down their name even to female descendants. Also the island was originally ironborn but the Winter King wrestled them off the island and brought the Mormonts from the mainland
That makes no sense, bear island is on west coast of westeros, ibbenese would have to colonize north or sail around westeros to reach bear island.
so, there were children of the forest in Essos. just like in Westeros the children were small, shy forest folk that after they almost got extinct went into hiding in the deep woods.
I'm just curious... where are you from? Can't place the accent.
so they are stereotypical dwarfs?
More like "what if Neanderthals had survived some place?"
fran laris Martin has noted that they are a "what if" kinda race that demonstrates what would have become of the neanderthals if they had survived to the Middle Ages.
Sea dwarves. Whaler dwarves.
Neanderthals are pretty much tall Dwarves-I should know I've seen Dwarves-except She was Black(her fro went to her cheeks) and with a Sasquatch and Ork's help (the Ork was White) took out a Grey Alien
They are more like
Viking Dwarfs. or Norse Dwarfs
how do you made these maps ?
Can you also do Near Mossovy? Because that would be where movie adaption Arya would end up and where proably also long lost desencdants of the House Stark could be, if Brandon the Shipwright was successful 1000 years ago
show canon is cringey. No thanks.
where'd you get that map
Maybe the Ibbenese could rediscover how to forge Valaryian Steel. Just a pet theory.
They are not known for that art
Heh, the stubberness of Ib'neeses.
Doesn't roll of the tongue.
Ángel Melendez
I think it's: Ibeneese, not Ib'neese.
I luv the ibbenese
Summer Isles next ☺️☺️
Soon. In 2 weeks.
Ib is the Russia of ASOIAF.
You forgot to mention that the IB are said to practice open and accepted homosexuality
Considering their women would most likely look no different from males, it wouldn't be surprising.
You might be confusing them with the Dornish.
How backwards! Speaking of backward IB backwards is BI
Would Tyrion be Ibbenese. Or maybe his mother or possibly Tywin had a ancestor who was Ibbenese.
Nah he's just a normal little person, but since they use the word dwarf for their own people I wonder what derogatory word they use for the Ibeneese.
Well, Ibbeneese are not THAT short. They are about 5 feet tall.
I dont think the Ibbinese are described as short. Just squat. They were meant to be neanderthals who had similar characteristics to how they are described
@@cantstopmygo420 Neanderthal comes to mind, when thinking of a insult for the ibs. if they know what Neanderthals are in that universe.
Thousand island dressing?
=)
So the people of Ib are Dwarves who sail then.
All I heard was IBIBIBIBIBIBIBIBIBIBIBIBIB
Are they dwarves
If they are dwarves I will Say
rock and stone brother
Dothraki vs Jogos Nhai
Thorin's Kin
you mean "no man from the seven kingdoms would stand a chance". the way you worded it made it sound like the ibbenese sucked at wrestling.
Fir Bolg
So these are real sailors not like those iron born hacks, and they sound a lot like dwarfs
Московия! Русские всея Игры Престолов!
They sound like Samoans.
bangyahead1 am Samoan.. can confirm
Inspired in Basque country probably.
What, how? The Basque are usually tall and almost all them are blonde. They don't live on an island either. And are not mistrusting towards foreigners.
maybe today, but in medieval times they were known for the killing of roland and they are not blond
and they were great walers and probably they reach america before colon
They are like Scandinavians or even blonder!
The whaling part is true though.
Anyway, I think the Basque have a reputation of a very noble warrior people in general, unlike the Ibbenese.
More like inspired by Neanderthals.
dwarfs realy?
Luiz Gauziski not really. George RR Martin said they were meant to be neanderthals. Like a what if situation if neanderthals in our own history werent wiped out
Sounds like Democratic Republic of North Essos
forth
sorry but first
Poossy
