      DansMachine if Tyrosh is Tyre, I think is is fair to think that Myr is Alexandria, because of the libraries it used to have and lys would be Cyprus because of there is where greek mithology says aphrodidite was born

    I wonder if the reason neither Dorne ( or later the Seven Kingdoms), Tyrosh, or Lys haven't ever tried permanently annexing all or part of the Stepstones is because it'd spark eternal conflict/upset the balance of power, and so it's left as a buffer zone

      It is a very difficult place to inhabit, and few in Westeros can navigate them successfully. The ironborn might have a go at it, but few in Westeros would give up vast lands and fertile soil for what amounts to a bunch of rocks.

      You don't need to say "their" the clause makes sense without it and if you do keep it in your sentence it should be 'there' not 'their' but even that's not the best option. A better one would be to say 'here'

    I think is is fair to think that Myr is Alexandria, because of the libraries it used to have and lys would be Cyprus because of there is where greek mithology says aphrodidite was born. Also tyrosh has dyies made up of snails so that brings a connection to Tyre that also did that in acient times.

    Love Lys. I'm still wondering why Young Couldn't be passed off as Lyseni

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 6 лет назад +8

      His hair was dyed blue and Jon Connington passed him off as his son. His real features are too Targaryen to ignore. Tyrion also noted that his mannerisms are very akin to Targaryens.
      If he is to claim the iron throne he can't well be a Lyseni.

    • @shadiganymedeeros3588
      @shadiganymedeeros3588 5 лет назад +9

      Lyseni culture is different from westerosi even though there are people who have classical valyrian features. And there could have also been facial or other physical features that make Young appear as a Targareyan...and the people of Lys are big on kidnapping, slavery and royal kidnapping.

    • @adamantiiispencespence4012

      I think image issues. Daemond II lost everything because he was humiliated by being dumped off his horse into a mud puddle. Why insinuate the possibility that young Aegon is just a sex slave of Valyrian descent who was bought to figurehead a coup/rebellion?

    • @madambutterfly1997
      @madambutterfly1997 Год назад

      @Adamant I I I spence spence for starters he wouldn't have to dye his hair there since nobles and baseborn Lyseni possess Valyrian features. That's less work for Illyrio and Varys in terms of "hiding" him since he'd be hiding in plain sight. Why Viserys and Daenerys didn't stay there is beyond me. It's established that Jon Arryn had no intention of hurting either of them so long as they didn't return. Monitoring their movements is another story.

      Almost. Dyes are a part of it, however Bravos is more Venice-ish while tyrosh is Tyre-ish, George mixed up the colours haha, although I do agree with pure purple for Bravos.

    If all these cities had old valeria blood, why did the House of the Dragon, not scout for people with dragonblood in Esos, so they were not married to close family....?

    • @Progamerr_06
      @Progamerr_06 Год назад +1

      There were plenty of targaryen and velorian basterds in westros it self so no need to search for somewhere else. Also, they probably would not trust a foreigner with a dragon.

    • @oppionatedindividual8256
      @oppionatedindividual8256 Год назад +4

      Only 40 families possessed the dragon blood. The doom killed 39 of them. The Targs are the only true borns to survive with the necessary blood/genes. There only hope would be to round up every single Essosi Valyrian noble descended from a bastard founder, and hope they have the blood. It’s entirely infeasible.

    Ehm, I think you forgot that "all men must die" is actually gender neutral in Valyrian, so that point was a bit cringey.
    Good video tho!

    • @SantomPh

      Actually the word for "prince" is gender neutral. The word for "men" is not.
      The word is "Vala" - like Valanquar (little brother) the prophecized killer of Cersei. Valar Morghulis and Valar Doeheris are both "all men must....".

    Did you ever do any research on culture of Game of Thrones? I am somewhat new to everything. I mainly became interested because of a Crusader Kings 3 mod for Westeros, and they have been talking of updates for territories and Houses of Esos and Beyond.
    If i am a lord, and someone comes to my home, (lets say there is bad blood between there family and me.) If i set a table, place bread and salt upon the table but do not offer it to them, but offer them Wine.... have i given guest rights, have i violated the custom, can i deal with the rival while they are in my grasp. Can my rival save themselves? By asking for guest rights, then taking bread and salt, (why bread and salt anyway, bread already has salt, and a custom from our own world is breaking bread)do they then steal guest rights... if this is done to myself, i would hope to be paying enough attention (like would Aryas offer of wine when she was wearing Walder Freys face be a hint to the men all dieing and they were to dim to see the signs)

    Lys the lovely would be considered still the most dangerous place in the world after the doom...reason why? The blood of old valyria still runs through there. Meaning that if the Dragons species were to comeback finding dragonriders would be easy there. I love Lys and wish it was real...would def choose to be Lyseni (or a Rhoynar/Valyrian Hybrid😘😉😋) Hope they make a RPG and allow people to choose who you are.
