Good looking shop Steve, thanks for the tour. Some nice new toys as well, loads of potential for reorganising yourself every week mate! :) Take care Mike
Glad to see you upgraded the filter bag on that dust collector - one thing you have to watch out for in a garage workshop is the fine dust. Lots of fine dust + enclosed space + gas fired furnace and water heater = BOOM.
Steve, you've got a nice man-cave going on there. I'm not going to list the tools that I think you NEED, because you can NEVER have enough tools. One thing to maybe think about would be a fire extiguisher, don't remember seeing one. Btw, good to see you back and thanks for sharing, Fred
Fire extinguisher is not a bad idea. I actually do have one out there somewhere, but it's obviously not easily accessible, and it's probably expired anyway. Time for a new one.
WOW, a shop that has room around the tools! Seems like the more space you have the less room develops (at least in my shop). Look forward to more post move videos:=)
Hey steve nice cave what's your budget on the tools :) get your self a nice set of carter woodturning gouges they would look well beside them easy gouges nice to see it's not all dust free lol Take care Robbie
Yeah, my go-to bowl gouge is actually too long to put on that rack with the tools you saw there. It sits in the basket under the lathe. Nowhere near as nice as a Carter, though!
Great looking shop. I have been thinking about a garage shop, but it gets cold here in mid-Atlantic in winter. So I would have a need for heat in the winter. Is your garage heated and if so, how?
Good looking cave Steve! I know you're glad is ready. You're wife is interested in the Scroll Saw? Wow, sounds like a good excuse to go tool shopping.. LOL. Question: the small cabinet on the floor, left of the lathe, did you make or buy that? Been looking for something like that. Thanks Steve PS: love the plastic shelving units man! I use lots of those, so versatile!
Charlie Zellner Charlie, that little drawer unit is actually a piece I got at Ikea as part of a desk system many years ago. We didn't need the desk anymore, but the drawers have sure come in handy! I have one drawer for smaller hand clamps, one for chucks (and jaws and screws, etc), one for pen parts and bushings, and even one for some lathe tools, like parting tools, a couple of skew chisels, etc. Thanks for watching!
I didn't have it yet when I made this video. I hung the xcarve table from the ceiling when I got it, so I can be hoisted up out of the way when I need the space.

I can't re-organize if I was never organized to begin with! Thanks, Mike.

Yes, My wife is willing to overlook some clutter and even some wood shavings around, but I think she might object to the BOOM!
Nice shop. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks!
Hi Steve: Nice workshop mate, thanks for showing us around, Best wishes Harry

Thanks Earl. Don't worry, I'll still manage to stumble over something out here.

I like the lathe. What model is it and how well do you like it's performance?
JimE
The lathe is a Jet 1642. I've had it for about a year now, and I really love it. It is strong enough for everything I'm e ever done on it!
Ceiling dust collector lines with drop down lines at desired locations?
There's never enough room for everything so I have everything on wheels.
Making the tools mobile is definitely the best thing I've done. Thanks for watching!
Where is your X-Carve cnc machine ?
