I remember the heat following that storm. I am a trail volunteer and was running a chainsaw on Marion Tallgrass trail wearing full coveralls to avoid poison ivy. The heat was pretty bad, not to mention we had about 100 trees down in 12.5 miles! Love your OTET travelogue. It’s helping my plans to do it in May ‘23.
I could not even imagine being all covered up and doing such strenuous work in that heat. Thank you so much for volunteering! Y’all make these trails possible. You’re gonna love doing OTET. Let me know if you have any questions that can help you.
@@DeniseLookingOut I will personally send you the dates once we get the campsite reservations! We’d love to have you and all of your crew share a site with us!
I've been following your videos for a while now and glad to see you came to the OTET. I live about an hour from Xenia and am so grateful for this trail system. I've been dreaming of doing the OTET for a couple of years now and watching you do it is making me want to do it even more. Doing it solo feels a little daunting though and I'm still very leery of road riding so seeing you overcome your fears in the face of everything you had to deal with is a great confidence booster. Thanks so much for the videos and the best of luck in your future adventures.
Thanks. I love that area of Xenia and Yellow Springs. I get up there often for little weekend trips. Ya know I think that’s why I love bikepacking so much is you have to face your fears because you have to move forward. The first pedal stroke is always the hardest then there’s no turning back. I hope you get out there and do the OTET. It just might change your life. Bikepacking changed mine.
Nice riding day but hot. I have to deal with the heat when bike touring here in Florida but I guess we Floridians are used to. Nice episode looking forward to the next one.
Hi Donna, thanks. I only reserved hotels for the weekend days of my trip in the major metro cities and I did reserve that Comfort Inn in Mount Vernon, knowing that was THE stop option for that day based on mileage options.
At the Comfort Inn in Mt. Vernon, we rolled them into the pool area. Not sure what they did the other nights. There’s always somewhere to put them if you’re nice enough to the desk person 😁
So cool to see you riding in my hometown of Columbus!
Love your spirit!
Another great video. Looking forward to the next.
Thanks!!!

Thanks. Yeah that heat’s killer in the Midwest when you’re not used to it.
What is your granny in gear inches? Or, your small tooth front sprocket?
I’m not sure what it is in inches. Gearing is a Shimano Claris 24-speed and
Cassettes 11-32
Did you reserve hotel rooms ahead during your planning? I love your videos!

Are they getting their trikes into hotel rooms?
