Thanks again for having me on the show guys, it was amazing fun!
Jordan needs to be a regular - fits in to the show perfectly!
I know you guys obviously didn't time this, but with the passing of Bryan Ansell today it is nice to hear his influence being talked about on this one.
Good to hear a shout-out to Snipe and Wib in Jordan's influences - definitely contenders for future guests if you can get 'em!
The 'business decisions influencing the minis and lore' bit reminded me of the old story about the Horus Heresy stemming from only being able to afford one mold for the titans, so they decided to do them in two different colours and used 'civil war' as a reason.
Jordan is one of my favourite hobby youtubers at the moment (aside from the painting phase of course), his videos and choice of knitwear are always excellent
Jordan has such a lovely, expressive charm with his easy smile and soothing voice. An excellent addition to the couch, would love to see you guys chat with him more in the future!
The best intro to the Old World in books is definitely Gotrek and Felix.
You get an immediate intro to the Dwarf and Empire cultures, and due to the format of the series with Gotrek slaying all the various races of the world you are gradually introduced to most of the major factions in the world.
This was a great podcast to listen to while I build my kids toys from Christmas ❤
I loved the gift to Jordan, so kind of Peachy. Great episode, been watching for months now. Keep up the good work!
Great episode! Thank you for the mention. Glad you guys enjoyed the stuff. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the kingly gifts Matt! 😍😍😍
The part about the audiobooks is scary... See, I'm an artist and I paint a lot of large scale murals (sides of buildings and such), and the last one took me the latest Lion's novel and all three parts of End-saga. Last year did a really big one where I was able to listen to all the basic Gaunt's series. So, yes: it's definitely a thing...
About the details on a miniature/painting realistically: the key is avoiding the tunnel-vision that inevitably comes with working on a miniature. Because no one will be viewing it from your close perspective. Picking out two or three details that are going to be of visual interest, the same way a painter would do in a painting: guiding the viewer's eye. Because if everything is detail and perfect in focus, actually: nothing is. Which results in messy, crowded paint-jobs.
The way painters get around it generally is with squinting, but there's an easier way: use peripheral vision. Your eye in the middle, is very much detail focused, but the sides are more geared towards recognizing objects/people in a very abstract way. Looking at something you've been working on from the corner of your eye every once in a while helps avoiding that dreaded 'everything must be perfectly layered and detailed'-problem. Holding it upside down does a similar thing as well. It instantly refreshes the way your brain looks at the object. And - and this sounds very simple, but it's actually a big thing when working focused - don't forget to blink. Every blink is your mind briefly refreshing the short-term input, so staring at something is often very counterproductive. This coming from someone who draws and paints for a living ;)
Frak and Feldercarb were both from the original 1970's BSG (I had to check so rewatched my box set!)
Great chat
The perfect combo of Jordan Quiz and the interview to end the year with. Plus more importantly an epic shot of Jordan in the video thumbnail looking like he's mid way through casting a spell 😄
Would love to see how the models look, that Peachy made for him ;-)
I can't wait for the future episode where you finally get a hold of Jarvis, and spend the entire episode discussing how the old card-based magic system was really inspired by The Room and the first 15 minutes of 2001 Space Odyssey. Then you discuss what kind of pungent, fungal cheese is the closest to what the night goblin fanatics eat
You mentioned GW entering into other media during the buyout , I’m glad they did as it was Realm Of Chaos by Bolt Thrower featuring the Space Marine cover art that caught my imagination and directed me to my local GW store……forever grateful 35 yrs of hobby heaven! 😊
Great show as always guys 👍🏻
A wild Jordan Sorcery appears! Great interview!
23:00 lol just took out my Battle of Osgiliath art work print and the cool Middle Earth map side has the barcode on it...
Finally someone who cares about fantasy! Great guest. Loved the conversation.
FYI I had a visit to HMG paints to sort out the early citadel paints and they had a model of Blue Thunder the helicopter which they also developed the special paint for.
Really glad to see Jordon on the show! Great episode!
My favourite RUclipsrs in one show, fantastic.
😘😘😘
Jordans multi part history of GW as a company was amazing.
Another great interview and a superb followup to the quiz! 🙂
I really enjoyed this, once again you had some one so passionate and engaging who truly loves the hobby!!
Is inspiring to watch and also fun and enjoyable, i came late into this amazing hobby world so late in life, coming across people like this gives me an opportunity to learn more!!
Once again you have introduced and broadened my knowledge a big thank you guys 😊
Wonderful episode again!
Love the overrun at the end😅😅😅.
Happy new year to you all 🥳🎉
That was class mate👍🏾😂😂
Another cracking episode, keep it up boys 👏
Loving these chats lads
The Quiz was really good, well thought out and well played.
Another cracking episode guys. Jordan seems like a lovely guy, I really enjoyed this interview. I really enjoyed seeing that stuff that Matt Render sent to you, heading over to check them out now :)
To paint like it is a cartoon, you need to edge highlight in black. To make the blocks looks like they are drawn. I saw dragan balls figures painted like the manga and it was looking like it.
Awesome episode guys! Glad you like the minis!
Cheers bud! They are awesome hoping to get some painted for the new year 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks again for passing some on to Matt
Guys, that couch needs a breather. What a trooper
Great chat!
My kids room was in my pile of shame this year. It took three thick coats (don’t kill me Duncan), covering purple with a lighter colour was pure pain it easily took over 10 hours all in.
Edit: “I did not hit her, I did naaaaht” - obligatory the Room quote.
Geoff on fine form in this one! Great stuff as ever.
Cheers - Geoff
13-year-old me loved that Bolt Thrower album, spaghetti-string downtuning and all. It was nice that the connections to 40k lore were more a result of the members' genuine enjoyment of the game, rather than the deal to get the cover art.
P.S. Peachy, PLEASE go see The Room in a theatre. It's a singular experience.
12:26 They do sell Candles now
Jordan is the man!
The conversation about memory near the start was interesting, as i have a really great memory i can remember things that happened 30+ years ago clear as they were yesterday.....my partner however cannot remember what happened last week 😅
Flipping the dog's ear closed to give it some dignity 😂
cracking stuff!
First GW experience, original WQ as a Witch Hunter!
A second Jordon Video, brilliant!
Jordan needs to be a part of the upcoming Hero Quest game
Frak (Frack) was definitely used in the original BSG. 😎😎
I normally wait to watch these until they go live for the non-patreons because for some reason I imagine that is better for the algorithm? But the cliff hanger ending of the Xmas Quiz was too much!
Just how interesting is that Patrick??
'That's very interesting '😂😂
Sorry if that sounds like am taking piss, love you guys really...
Is Spotify still being updated? Not had anything since the Arbitor Ian interview and I'm dreading my commute tomorrow without fresh content for the new year! :D
7th w/ 6E books is the best edition!
Frac came from before both 😊
1:03:30 Dungeon bowl has most of the old WHQ tiles if you want to rebuild a modern version
I must admit I love the pegmustree.
Frak and Feldercarb were both Original Series Battlestar and Frell is Farscape
I have D Rok's Album still - made famous by Brian May meeting the band and accepting an invite to record with them. His guitar playing is on two of the songs. Always found Bolt Thrower's style a little too filthy for my taste. Love chat about the past and all the good (and bad) stuff that's gone down at GW over the years.
Nice sweater/jumper peachy. Ultramarines aren't that bad.
I do wonder how they translate "bodyglove" into German, since the word for glove is "Handschuh" (literally "hand shoe"). Is it a "body hand shoe" or just a "body shoe"? Or is it something else?
Sabbat - “Blood for the Blood God” flexi disc…
Very nice 🙂🎉🎉🎉
Even though WHFB is my love I do like how AoS has stepped away from the typical Tolkienesque tropes of how Dwarves and Elves are supposed to be and made them their own.
AoS is firing on all cylinders creatively
"Fragg" was in Shadowrun (1989)
I usually wait for these to hit the apple podcast stream so I can run to them, but it's ben real hit or miss with what ends up there. Will this end up there?
53:15 Captain Testio Modella from Estalia
"One Coat Wonder.." is this peachy's answer/ESP to Duncan's "Two thin coats"..?....
..."And if you're not happy you get the extra coat free.."
Frack was unsed in the original series of BSG but not in the same way it was used in BSG 2003 and it predates WH40k by about 9 years
Huzzah!
God i hope they reboot skaven in the next AoS edition, they need some love with new sculpts
Thats what the rumours say, I just hope they're sculpted so they look good on square bases 😅
Skaven aren’t a part of Old World, apart from the legacy army list pdf
Loremaster Jor Dan ❤
Its becoming evident that Jordon wasn't born. He was knitted.
For the algorithm 👍
Would the new Warhammer Chaos God Fromage be like Sheogorath in The Elder Scrolls series?
Cheese for everyone!!!!!
Patrick still needs a mohawk
Interesting comment about GW’s lore for their fantasy universes being “marketing for toy soldiers”. I would be interested to know how much revenue the actual toy soldiers bring in to GW, versus all the licensing deals and anything else that monetizes the Warhammer intellectual property.
According to last year's annual report 95% of their revenue comes from their core business and the other 5% from licensing. Of course Black Library is in their core revenue reporting here but hard to imagine it makes up much compared to miniatures/box sets/rules.
Loving the content but missing it in podcast format lately!
Frank was in 2000ad as well I'm sure
Erm.... actually... it was Feth for Tanith, Gakk for the Vervunhivers 😂 (excuse spelling across the board)
Comment for the great Algorr.
Is this a prime example of scale creep in action? 🤔
Around the 20 min mark I completely lost the thread of this lol
How is the Old World Cheese Officionado Faction not Bretonnia??
You’re far too clever for this channel.
😭😭
MMOoroodododhEHEHHIIIIIIMMMMM !!! When the Mordheim campaign?
They did say Frak in the original series of Battlestar Galactica.

Sabbat?
Bryan Ansell just passed away today :(
Sad times indeed
The beastmen dairy farms
What do all the stickers, posters and minis at the end have to do with your guest? You just dumped him and ended the interview spontaneously. Maybe that is why you can't get some people on your show because you waste their time by talking about things that have nothing to do with them. And you tend to talk over your guests sometimes when they want to interject something in the middle of one of your waffles.
I enjoy your show when you have interesting guests but I really want to hear them talk.
✊(All) Hail *_JORDAN SORCERY‼_* (He is now doubtless a true *_Juggernaut_* in the *OLDHAMMER & Wargaming Fandom*_ )
(🪦R.l.P. Bryan Ansell💎.....you have, unlike the vast majority, _left your own unique & _*_Indelible Mark_*_ on the World_ ....& of course: The World of Wargaming as a whole; *Donald Featherstone** would be proud;-)
