I recently got an original binder from my boss, a set of 94' soccer cards. Mint condition. Wondering if my future investment of grading the set will be worth it
If there’s one thing I learned from Pawn Stars; just because an item have a certain value doesn’t mean you will get that value for it. There’s asking price and price sold; and if you’re selling on tcgplayer or eBay, they take a cut too. AND, you still have the card 1 year later so you didn’t make any money. The demand and collector market for yugioh isn’t like Pokémon, where there is a steady demand for collectible cards.
I looked up some of those card numbers and some of the value in the estimates is nowhere near what he said. Lol in my opinion it'd probably be worth 20% of what the video says the collection is worth & this is coming from someone that's been collecting Yu-Gi-Oh since 1999
this was so much fun to watch! i downloaded the collector app too and added all my cards in there. i believe throughout my life i have spent around $2000 for my whole collection. it’s now worth just over $12,000! side note - i’m most likely never gonna sell them because of what they mean for my childhood, but man does that number feel good lol
Problem with TCG collecting as an investment is that it’s such a young market who knows when a particular TCG is just gonna fall off. MTG was the first. That was 93. Which means gen x and gen y were the first generations to be exposed to TCGs and because they’ve had the time to accumulate the wealth needed to make the high dollar card purchases. Pokémon is still insanely popular with the younger generation. The MTG crowd is definitely aging a bit but there is still a significant amount of young blood there too. Yu Gi Oh I admittedly haven’t played in over 20 years but does still seem to attract a good bit of young blood from what I’ve seen. The thing is will the young TCG players when they get older be interested in collecting the same cards we value so highly, or will they have their own groups of cards from this era that they value higher than ours? When the gen x/y crowd willing to drop a few grand on power 9s are all in assisted living will gen z be willing to fork over the cash or will they go for more modern cards they have personal attachments to? I really don’t know. I feel mostly the same about toys too. If I was gonna invest in collectibles it’d probably be sealed boxes of football/basketball/baseball cards, comics of known scarcity, and (ungraded) vintage video games. I’m glad he did well on his investment just don’t hold onto them long enough to lose your gains. Investing in something u love is tricky because it can be hard to let go of your collection sometimes
I buy singles usually 6 months after a set. I end up spending no more than $3-4 a card for the most expensive cards i will still buy. The chase cards may hold value for a longer time and i wait for bigger reprints but as far as getting new support i just stay patient
Investing in ANY tcg is extremely risky... and Yugioh is pretty much the last tcg that anyone should try investing in. Not going to get into all the reasons why, but the short answer is that the market characteristics simply don't allow for it.
Limited Edition Original Dark Magician Girl. Released the same year as the original one. So it's technically a limited edition reprint. But it was released the same year as the original.
@spongebob6664 What I'm saying is. I decided to look through my cards after some years since I have cards from Gen 1. The only one I had of original print are my harpie cards and The Dark Magician Girl. It's the original limited edition card. I'm told. Unlike Pokémon. The way the game has changed with the added mechanics and stuff. A portion of the older cards are outdated and thus have less value. And I go to conventions. I DONT SEE THE LIMITED EDITION ONE.
@spongebob6664 You type in the code. You google which box set was released first. If your cards code matches the original box set. You literally have the original card from almost 30 years ago.
here in portugal we mostly had fake cards since existing because most people bought them at chinese stores and they were always fake despite looking completly real outside
I've never heard of counterfits retaining value... I guess it's good, it goes to show how much people love yugioh. But at the same time it's not yugioh, yfm? Seems disingenuous.

Sam oh boy over $15k profit gets a real evaluation........... we can offer $25k?? Sam for $55k worth of cards????? NO WAY!! retailer: who valued these at that price ? theres no way on a good day its $40k
It'd be 55k if he sold all the cards individually himself, if you're selling in bulk, they're going to offer about half, leaves them room for their profit and sitting on the cards until they can sell the cards individually themselves.
@@mbtygo_progrussys don't mint/near mint 1 edition go for much more, also with the whole American/European printing stuff, and the whole hardcore collector standards, you could find buyers for the more inflated prices. $400 for near-mint first edition ultimate rare Flame Wingman. TCGPlayer has two listed for $125, and three for $320 or less. Right off the bat, this video is suspect lol.
Wow I have that Magic Formula card too and many of the others but only the cards from Yugioh and Yugioh GX I have I didn’t realize my cards were worth this much now amazing thanks for the info
Just keeping it real. Those cards loose a TON of value because you don’t have them graded. But you can sell to people online to build decks that way. Sick collection man love what you do.
Yes and no it’s actually harder to sell cards graded then raw. And I wouldn’t look at it as they loose value because they are not graded it’s more like the raw value is the base value for the card then the price goes up or down depending on the grade and just because you trade a card doesn’t always guarantee it’s going to get a higher value or even stay at that value.
I love how he says playing with thousand dollar cards. Try MTG some tournament decks can be tens of thousands some very insane players have decks in the six figures
Sam bought them for a ton. People who think they can get a lot more for them might. If he cuts off $5000, they might. He can throw in his entire collection for that, even if they weren't worth that much, and someone might.
I don't like the term counterfeit for the flame wingman. It's not a fake card. It is simply a licensing dispute issue. Yes because Konami didn't authorize it, it has less value but it isn't a counterfeit. That's like saying the record press company that handles the Beatles original tracks sent out unauthorized records, just because the Beatles didn't authorize it doesn't mean you don't own a record from the studio with their music on it.
The card is different, even if you hold it in your hand. It was not printed by Konami, it was outsourced. It's not a leak on the market like Nike has, this is a complete knockoff.. That's extremely well made. Thanks for viewing the video.
@@StrictlySealed again it's a contract issue. Upper deck was the distributer for multiple regions but because Konami terminated the contract they weren't legally allowed to print these at the time. but they are printed as they would have been from a distributer (upper deck) up until the contract termination. Not konami licensed doesn't mean fake. Just not recognized but the Konami company due to contract issues. It would have been considered "real" if the contract hadn't been terminated.
@@Sagemod3_X what you aren’t understanding is that Konami prints the cards not UDE. UDE arranges distribution only. If Nike produces shoes and sends them to footlocker. If footlocker takes these shoes and makes the same shoe but with slight differences. That is still a fake shoe lol. Doesn’t matter if footlocker distributes the shoe. Thanks for viewing the videos.
Due to lack of technical understanding of how to analyze the digital market , many people lose. More emphasis should be put into day trading and staking as I do with Maryjane Davies, Her skills set is topnotch.
She taught me how to utilize the volatility in trading and I make gain from trading despite the price chart. Also the fact that I was able to withdraw without any issues is what I love about trading with Mrs Maryjane.
Thank you, I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for sharing your insightful. Sadly, too many people are going to get hurt because they failed to educate themselves on this subject.
people can set card values however they want, at the end of the day, you need to find buyers to pay you the money you want for the cards. but it is fun to see regardless.
Just to think ive had my hands on most of these cards at one point really blows my mind lol especially the dark magician girl ghost rare black rose, stardust lol had to sell to stop my addiction cold turkey
I know magic, I don't know yugioh, but I thought it was fishy, I searched through the video 5 times and checked the prices, they are insane, like for instance Cyber Barrier Dragon, they peg it at 70$, a near mint is 5 bucks on ebay, same set, set printing, same first edition, a graded version has sold for more but keep in mind grading costs 25 bucks per, it's a crapshoot, even with nm cards out of the pack you get back whatever from 7-10 the whole thing is a scam really, nm is supposed to be an 8 which is an unblemished card with no visible imperfections, so you lose that and then fees and then storage and insurance fees which are small comparatively but they're a few percent and there are only 15 graded copies sold on ebay in the last 3 years. So overall the guy pegs his value at 70 bucks, it really sells for 5, if he grades a 9 he could 70 maybe on auction after spending 25 and then spending on the fees I mentioned., I don't know what he paid, but it's not a good outlook
Yugioh as a collectible community went under years ago bro. My collection went from $90k to around $6k now. For example blue eyes white dragon used to be over $10k and now its about $150. As in a hundred and fifty dollars. And there is no market for psa yugioh like 10 on the market actually graded all the rest of the cards cost $1. Yugioh is dead.
Konami doesn't want you to collect and buy from others, they want to sell their product that's why they reprint every card like at least 4 times and release cards that'll get banned 3 months in. I started collectin not too long ago and I'm honestly glad i didn't start earlier, most of the 40$+ cards i pulled last year are now 30 cent bulk cards. You can collect yugioh cards only for fun, in a game which is not very beginners friendly, all the pros switch to pokemon, Yugioh loses player by player. They reprint old sets to get nostalgia customers to buy, just to have them realise they bought absolute junk... and even if a set doesn't sell Konami doesn't care, cause all the card stores have to buy konami's sets and are then stuck with loads of worthless cardboard. There used to be a lot more card stores in my region, they are all gone now but one. Wouldn't surprise me if most of them had to close because of crap like that...
I recently found all of my cards from my childhood I have about 4000 cards in a binder how do I go about getting them checked? They have been in the binder the entire time
Everybody is gangster with their TCG collections until you actually have to sell them. Nobody will buy a fringe Ultimate Rare from you quickly. Nobody needs these cards, hence people will usually lowball you and the wonderfully high prizes on TCGplayer don‘t actually apply to your cards. What are good investments are cards people need where you can make short term profit. Let it be a card that begins to see play or older cards that become playable again. This is what most people don‘t get. My TCG collection is worth a ton, but I could never sell it quickly. Hence, it is simply not worth that much. If there is an emergency and I needed the money right away I would have to sell it what under marketprice.
// if you sell german cards to germans etc. you can get quite a bit more - on european markets the German cards are usually quite expensive even compared to french or english //

Where is this dude getting his prices from? I searched up a bunch of these cards on eBay sold listings and they go for significantly less.
significantly less now
Yugioh changes very fast. I remember think Performapal odd eyes syncRon is a decent pickup for $2 bc it has one printing and is kinda busted tbh. It went to $5 at one point. And then just went back to $1-2
That's exactly how yu gi oh cards trend....always down
I don't even make 40k working a full time job over a year.
Tour Guid literally changed the game. That and Rescue Rabbit made decks so fast and consistent.
Don't have a clue if these valuations are real but Omar looks like he knows his stuff. Madly entertaining.
My heart just sank when I just realized that my ultimate rare Flame Wingman and Aqua Neos are counterfeits. 😔
u never noticed the silver eye before?
The way they are handled, and unprotected is wild
Wild. Plus they are not graded.
Could’ve spent that money on the SP500 lmao
People must really like these Neos Fusions despite the unplayability. If I'm buying expensive cards I couldn't imagine picking Neos stuff :P
Neo-Spacian is the lamest archetype ever, even goddamn Performapals are cooler.
I lost my marbles the moment I seen those Super Rare lonefire blossoms. I hope Collectr adds ocg yugioh cards soon. That blackwing dragon ghost rare is super clean just like Sealed said.
They need to do better with japanese pokemon too and distinguishing unlimited and first edition vintage
Pokemon is yu gi oh rip off @@Doors067
I had remember getting and trading for Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl and I’m pretty sure I had both of them in mint condition because I wasn’t running them in my decks. Sadly I gave all my cards away when I stopped playing and collecting
this video made me 400 bucks richer when i find where i placed my deck 14 years ago
Would be such a flex to say you made nearly $15k off of your passion, and a card game no less. Insane collection bro!
he made much more than 15k from this video alone lol
If Sam signed the card sleeves in his collection it would go up 10 grand
I looked up some of those card numbers and some of the value in the estimates is nowhere near what he said. Lol in my opinion it'd probably be worth 20% of what the video says the collection is worth & this is coming from someone that's been collecting Yu-Gi-Oh since 1999
this was so much fun to watch! i downloaded the collector app too and added all my cards in there. i believe throughout my life i have spent around $2000 for my whole collection. it’s now worth just over $12,000!
side note - i’m most likely never gonna sell them because of what they mean for my childhood, but man does that number feel good lol
U never sell it means it is not a investment
He never said it was lol. He said from his childhood lol
I mean "Being worth" and "having ppl buying it" are 2 different things :D
Collectr is amazing. Sam isn’t just floating a sponsor. It’s awesome, you get daily updates to price changes.
But what if you deck isn’t viable anymore such as branded I’m def not paying for bystial lubellion but thinking about paying $50 for cartesia

NOW is the time to invest 40k in cards, the market is so down. Last year they were on their peak 😂
“YoOu hAvE bEen SelEctEd” stfu
Investing in ANY tcg is extremely risky... and Yugioh is pretty much the last tcg that anyone should try investing in. Not going to get into all the reasons why, but the short answer is that the market characteristics simply don't allow for it.
Limited Edition Original Dark Magician Girl.
Released the same year as the original one.
So it's technically a limited edition reprint.
But it was released the same year as the original.
Its more affordable too 😊
@spongebob6664 What I'm saying is.
I thought paying $100 for a set of droplets was expensive,
Video starts at 3:30 if you want to skip him saying 40,000 (i counted 6), paid sponsors and self promotion also it's worth 54k.
I've never heard of counterfits retaining value... I guess it's good, it goes to show how much people love yugioh. But at the same time it's not yugioh, yfm? Seems disingenuous.
That laugh at Utopia got me in the feels
Just faced my dark magician user with my dm deck... was strange/confusing... I was barely able to pull off a win though. Anyone have any tips or ideas for going toe to toe with dm decks?
As a collector seller I can assure the issue is not the value. If You have a card and no buyer, the card is worthless
Sam oh boy over $15k profit
gets a real evaluation........... we can offer $25k??
Sam for $55k worth of cards????? NO WAY!!
retailer: who valued these at that price ? theres no way on a good day its $40k
It'd be 55k if he sold all the cards individually himself, if you're selling in bulk, they're going to offer about half, leaves them room for their profit and sitting on the cards until they can sell the cards individually themselves.
@@gilbertoflores7397 no it wouldn't go value all the cards on tcgplayer at retail prices its not 55k
@@mbtygo_progrussys don't mint/near mint 1 edition go for much more, also with the whole American/European printing stuff, and the whole hardcore collector standards, you could find buyers for the more inflated prices. Tcg is just a convenient way of selling, you'd have to find other deep pocket collectors to get those sort of prices.
@@gilbertoflores7397 it's not even close to 55k if he sold individually. Grand neos is like 125 not 200 like Omar said.
Alot of these prices are absolutely over valued as hell
@@Gamer_Girl_Noire on TCG 1st edition value is $252.
I am just speechless how expensive those cards are. I still remember the most expensive card during my active time was Crush Card Virus which was like 150. I pulled Pot Of Duality and that was like 70 at that time.
This is a year ago, prices went down a lot since then
$400 for near-mint first edition ultimate rare Flame Wingman.
I have over 70k in cards and only have 10 or so graded.
@@HoloTWWOriginal nice
The guy doing the appraisal mainly collects graded cards, he said only a few cards are worth grading. So not everything needs to be graded.

I love how he says playing with thousand dollar cards.
Try MTG some tournament decks can be tens of thousands some very insane players have decks in the six figures
NO ONE will buy these cards for those prices, knock them by half and there's your liquidity.
People will buy them definitely
Sam bought them for a ton. People who think they can get a lot more for them might. If he cuts off $5000, they might. He can throw in his entire collection for that, even if they weren't worth that much, and someone might.

Me: It must be nice🥲
It's the verbage I have issue with. It isn't like someone sat in their shop and custom made these.
@@StrictlySealed probably a bad example. It's still a real shoe. Just not a Nike. So UDE made a card, a real card, just not a Konami card.
I wonder if it would be possible to play with a deck of cards in their PSA containers.
Due to lack of technical understanding of how to analyze the digital market , many people lose. More emphasis should be put into day trading and staking as I do with Maryjane Davies, Her skills set is topnotch.
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing Maryjane been mentioned here, didn’t know she has been good to so many people.
She taught me how to utilize the volatility in trading and I make gain from trading despite the price chart. Also the fact that I was able to withdraw without any issues is what I love about trading with Mrs Maryjane.
Do you mind hooking me up with her, I'm new at this.

Reality: At auction this set of cards estimated at $50K would actually SELL around $10K-20K total.
The Lonefire Blossom is only $250 now. Should make another video to see where the prices went now.
So overall the guy pegs his value at 70 bucks, it really sells for 5, if he grades a 9 he could 70 maybe on auction after spending 25 and then spending on the fees I mentioned., I don't know what he paid, but it's not a good outlook
i have learned that something is only worth what someone else is willing to give for it...
Collectors app isnt very good. Theres a TON of sets missing from YuGiOh and Pokemon. Its frustrating to get an accurate number.
The PSA system is madness. I’d frame most of these 8’s if I were collecting.
I'm seeing this 12/15/24. S&P last 2 years since the video.... up 40%
