Thanks for watching, gang! Please like and subscribe, if you already haven't. Means more than you could ever know. And please let me know what's currently rocking your world. Be it a movie, album or pedal. As long as you dig it, I wanna know about it :)
ThePedalZone I would also recommend you the latest album of my band which was released in November 2018. The album is called Something Is Changing and my band is Trapsix from Budapest, Hungary.
You could do something like the record time jhs does in his videos. And when you say "rocking" i have to mention the Bogner Überschall pedal with its double sided gold plated circuit boards, thomann is selling them for about half price, even cheaper than the used ones on Reverb.
Currently rocking my world is the Pine-Box Custons Skin Walker. I know you're not really into drive pedals, but I still recommend checking that one out. I just love Pine-Box, Jordan is the best! Also thanks for recommending that movie, I was considering watching it. Will surely do that, now!
I'm surprised this isn't more popular. It is so powerful. The tonal, effected and multi amplifier combinations are endless! I love the music and video recommendations are great. More of your tips, advice and faves please! I went straight out and watched this movie - so fun.
Whouah, as usual, I've looked 8 guitar youtubers on this pedal, and you're the only one making real creative and immediately inspired ideas with this Swiss thing!
Beautiful playing in the demo and great ways to use the Swiss things. I keep ending up seeing cool ways people use the dark star so it’s calling my name (love those unplanned overtones/sounds that seem to spring up beautifully in that thing). Take care, thanks for your videos!
wow, you guys😵I was putting a my pedal board together (preparing to order the parts and board and all), but this is going to have to make me rethink the whole thing. The Expression pedal input! I didn't even notice that
It's a great device for tying your pedalboard and its overall functionality together. And yeah, that expression in for volume is brilliant. One of my favorite features ☺
Thank you for this sonic illustration : it makes all clear now!! Favourite band since 2018 : the Dear Hunter. The Acts records are awesome! If you love well written stories, reminiscent melodies, and musical diversity, go for it!
As always, your creativity is inspiring, even not having a Swiss Things the ideas you put forth here have given me some great routing ideas- ok, got some experimenting to do! Pedal Zone is one of my favorite things ..hahahaha.
#5 sounds awesome! Those swells remind me of the deep space singularity event horizon X-ray pulses from "How Can I Forget" from Andy Summer's awesome Mysterious Barricades album. Happy New Year! Looking forward to your videos this year.
Lovely work and creative inspiration source for something as seemingly “utility” as this. Thank you for the flick heads up. I was trying to finish a record that took over a decade to ice, and had lost faith in the project until I heard: Lykke Li’s “I Never Learn”...the album that made me believe in music again! So there is that, and making moves to find a lyrical muse again. Those don’t come around often enough in life. Cheers, and Happy New Year!
I watched Summer of 84 on your recommendation. Agree the musical score is awesome. Enjoyed the film overall, and also agree the ending “packs a punch” 🥊 as you say.
Oh man! This demo has some years on it now, so I completely forgot I recommended that movie at the end. Happy you enjoyed it. Now I want to go and rewatch it. It really is a nice and unique take on a horror/thriller movie.
Amazing review, I didn’t have any prior knowledge of this pedal before your review but somehow this has been exactly what I’ve been searching for. Lately I’ve been watching The Expanse, an amazing lovecraftian sci fi as well as The Handmaids Tale which I’m convinced is the greatest show I’ve ever watched. I’ve been listening to as much stoner rock and post metal as I can find and I’m obsessed with Om’s Advaitic Songs.
This L.A. Californian guitarist was part of in renowned Swiss progressive rock band Flame Dream (Vertigo Records). I’m extremely proud to have inspired EQD by my longtime love of all things Swiss and so they named it “Swiss Things”.
I had one for about 3-4 months now but still figuring out every day since it's such new technology. So I use both single coil and humbuckers and use Lava solderless patch cables, voodoo 4x4 power supply, Polytune 3 in the Tuner out, a Dunlop Volume X expression in the EXP out, Keeley Compressor Plus BEFORE my SWISS Things Y as recommended in the EQD manual, a Boss NS-2 noise gate and a Timmy OD in my Loop 1. I actually leave my Loop 2 empty(because I don't like that the clean boost also boosts my Loop 2(only flaw I discovered in the Swiss Things, the Boost should only Boost Loop 1, so I put my Nova Delay and Boss RV-6 Reverb AFTER the B output of my Swiss Things until I get my 2nd amp for stereo in the future. I leave the Loop 2 empty as a result and just use it as a mute like you guys. I run all this through the front of my Fender Super Champ X2 on the clean channel. So my question, is it better to leave the Compressor in front of the Y input, put it in Loop 1 before my Timmy OD? I'm trying to use my single coil strat but get rid of my Noise Gate via clean isolated power, good solderless Lava patch cables, and good solderless DC power adapter cables. Also final question, with a side chained built in FX looped Boss NS-2 Noise gate, where and how should I wire the NS-2 in the Swiss Thing's signal chain? P.S. The Swiss Things has so much buffers in it on top of my buffered Boss Reverb, Boss Noise Suppressor, and Bonafide Buffered Polytune that's already on a buffered tuner out, so double buffering there, and I noticed my short Mogami cables actually sound darker and my longer Mogami cables sound brighter and has better signal. Is this due to having so many buffers in my chain?
ive been using a digitech TRIO for this purpose. its an effects loop that sometimes is a looper and drum machine. it cant do the channel stuff though but its very good for buffering effects. im able to run an obscene amount of pedals with no tone loss
So I don't know if I would count it as one of my favorites, but I just started playing Brütal Legend for the first time since highschool and it's been loads of fun! Also I can't not mention my favorite musician of the past couple years, Thundercat. The way he uses his bass can take you to distant planets made of pure funk or it can just make you laugh. Either way, his album "Drunk" is my favorite album of all time. Highly recommend.
Oh damn, that heavy riff sounded MASSIVE! Is it a Mastodon song? I think I recognized one but I can't seem to remember wich one it is (if it is one at all haha) As always, I closed my eyes and drifted away to magical soundscapes filled with warm, bright coloured lights... Thanks for that, I really need to get away from my everyday life from time to time! I know I said it before, but you really help me go on with my life in spite of my overwhelmingly crippling depression. Your demos and the music you play are really soothing when everyrhing seems worthless and when I have difficulty seeing the point of going on. Outside actual therapy, you're the best therapy a person like me would ever need! Thank you so much for inspiring me my friend :)
Happy you enjoyed the vid. And yes, it's a super neat utility device. You can just run your stereo effects after the Swiss Things, if you want their full stereo image. That's what I did in the example with the Avalanche Run ☺👍
Would suggest that once you get into effects far enough to require an actual board, the issues which this largely resolves become increasingly, glaringly apparent.Always dislike introducing more complexity and variables, especially when the issue is already too much of just that(same), but sometimes you got to meet force with force.Just enough to get your top ten ( or 12) popping. EQD is just full of surprises these days. The Mascis and the Baritone,- two garage monsters(with stock,POS bridges, no less) in the same video.Very nice.
Still in the process of getting my feet wet with this nifty little device - connects up my Princeton & BadCat for sonic bliss! Question about the DC input : anyone else wish the input was a bit more secure? I find the power cable can very easily dislodge and cause a not too pleasant sound. Great video by the way 👌
Thanks, dude! It's a pretty neat device, especially for live use if your music depends on activating a lot of effects at the same time, or if you're singing and playing at the same time. It reduces stomping time, which is great. Everything I play in my demos is just stuff I come up with. So it's nothing. Just another random noodling fest from me ❤
Since the two outs A and B are dual mono, don't you only need one of them to go to the avalanche run in your stereo example? (at 2:13 minutes in the video) why are you using both inputs on the avalanche run?
Sure, you can just go from one of the outputs and mono into AR and from there stereo out. I was just using both because I could. Nothing sciency or fancy about it. Just surplus for the sake of surplus 😂
@@thepedalzone question, so you use output B to an amp with the wet fx in its fx loop. Can you send the A output of Swiss Things to a dry amp? Assuming all wet fx are after the split.
People are like "I use Axe-Fx because i can hit one switch to go from metal-distortion with noisegate to lush clean with 3 fx on" ....but thats basically what a 99€ Boss Line Selector LS-2 can do aswell. The Swiss things offers a bit more features for nearly 3 times the price but it's all cheaper than an Axe-Fx and you can buy loads of other pedals for the price difference lol
1 problem I noticed with the boost; can't use it like a standard boost pedal with your loop 2 on since it boosts all your delay/reverb/time effects as well. Also, I had a question about where to put a compressor? Loop 1? Before the Y input? Where to put a noise gate? After the Swiss Things output?
The booster in the Swiss Things is an output booster. Its purpose is to make everything louder. So it's not a problem. It's the way it's designed and supposed to be. You can just place a booster in loop 1, if you want a booster that only affects your drives. You should put your compressor before Swiss Things, so before the input into Swiss Things, it's stated in the manuaæ and on the EQD website. You could place a noise gate in loop1 with your drives or after Swiss Things, depending on what you want it to do. I recommend you direct your questions towards EQD, they are the ones who designed the product, and they know it best 👍
Sweet...but I don't have a "Swiss wallet" unfortunately (damn EQD!),anyway I don't have/need that many pedals and I do well even without it,keep on the good work Stefan! I'm gonna get me a Transmisser this month wich paired with y Immerse and Tc triple delay can cover all fronts, see you in space.
Helloo wonderfull video! so could someone use the swiss things as a "midi controler" but for analog pedals? could it be considered something like that? Thanks !
No, I wouldn't think of it like that. MIDI lets you control a ton of different parameters. This is a switcher. It lets you turn things on and off. You can turn a lot of pedals on and off at the same time though, which opens up some cool creative doorways 👍
I know it's an old video, however no one really covers running a Noise gate with it? I've has a Swissthings for a few years now and just started running a Noise gate, Revv G8. Find it's hard to fine tune is all.
You're not wrong. Haven't done a full demo of it yet. Will happen this year though. Did use it for cool glitchy stutter effects in this little Meris Trifecta composition :) ruclips.net/video/MueI524WWf4/видео.html
I have a SC95 wah I use on occasion with a digitech pedal for drop tunings. The wah pedal even when not engaged changes the tonal sound. I want to be able to switch to the wah and direct sound without having to unplug the wah, is this earthquaker pedal a good solution?
Thanks Stefan for the cool demo. I just have one question.Where would you put a tremolo pedal? In the demo of EQD it was in loop 1 after all the dirt pedals but as you also mentioned in one of your previous videos a tremolo is one of the coolest thing after a reverb pedal or between two of them. So loop 1 after dirt pedals or loop 2 after reverb or between two of them? :)
Thanks, man! I’m really stoked to hear you liked the demo. You can place a Tremolo pedal wherever you want. Loop 1 is simply optimized for drives and fuzz’ since it’s unbuffered, whereas Loop 2 is buffered. If I were to set up a pedalboard with Swiss Things on it, I would place my Tremolo in Loop 2 after reverb 😊👍
Hey question when you activate Loop 2 Does Loop one kill? Or are they stacked? I would prefer when activating one loop the other one would automatically roll off
@@thepedalzone ruclips.net/video/LML6SoNE7xE/видео.html It's not exactly it, but definitely reminiscent! Thanks for the awesome showcase, definitely considering this for my setup. Are you on Instagram? I try to showcase my updated rig as things are added/ adjusted.
Really great vid but I've looked at this a number of times (as well as numerous other youtube vids) and still cant work out if this can be used to supply wet and dry routing to two amps..
I think you would have to use an amps effects loop for the wet amp. It looks like this will only do stereo effects (unless your pedal has a wet/dry knob)
got a couple of questions as i am looking to set up a wet/dry rig..one up being wet and one dry/overdrive 1. can my always on keely compressor which sits just after my drive/fuzz and synth pedal be ok in the dry/fuzz/od loop? 2: what about a looper pedal how would you use that at the end of the wet signal path? i think i just answered it myself but would like an opinion? as always i listen to your stuff with headphones
Be cool of they make a mk2 or something. With a stereo out that can give just the positive pan one way and negative phase pan the other or so.e place between.
Is there a way to run the 2 loops in parallel on this with one speaker output, or are the loops always run in series?
5 лет назад
Hey stefan! Do you have issues with ground humming when using two amps like with a morley for example? I think there must be a hum when you use pedals after the outputs because of the same electriccircuit? Great demo! Cheers, Andre
I used two amps, each mic'd with their own microphones going to my recording interface. You can see a list of all the gear used in the video description 😊
Well, if you want me to improve, then you could offer more specific constructive feedback instead of something so open and vague as “explain more”. I would like to know what YOU’RE missing, so I can potentially improve.
Love me some utility pedals. They don't make people excited, but once you have a big collection they take your pedalboard to the next level.
Exactly! Couldn’t have said it better myself 👍
I agree. I look forward to getting this (along with an actual board to mount everything to).

You’re gonna love the Transmisser. That think just sounds so surreal. It’s a transcending experience playing it 👌
Helloo wonderfull video! so could someone use the swiss things as a "midi controler" but for analog pedals? could it be considered something like that?
Am I wrong or you haven't done a review of the Ottobit yet? I would love to see it
You're not wrong.
I want to be able to switch to the wah and direct sound without having to unplug the wah, is this earthquaker pedal a good solution?
wow. no words
No words in a good way, right? 😊
My favorite new thing is the KIN soundtrack, by Mogwai!
Uuuuuh! I need to check that out. Love MOGWAI ❤
ThePedalZone Thanks and keep up the excellent work with the demos! 😊
Hey question when you activate Loop 2 Does Loop one kill? Or are they stacked? I would prefer when activating one loop the other one would automatically roll off
sounds great! also you should wear an amulets shirt next time :)
Thank you! And yes, I definitely should! ❤
@thepedalzone Was the second option the song from the Shire in Lord of the Rings???
Don't know. But if it was, then I would be very proud

It's not exactly it, but definitely reminiscent! Thanks for the awesome showcase, definitely considering this for my setup. Are you on Instagram? I try to showcase my updated rig as things are added/ adjusted.
Yes, I’m on Instagram 😊👍 The Instagram handle is under my name in the beginning of all of my videos
Sorry I’m a noob at this - I just got a Swiss Things - how do I set up a wet dry rig ?
Really great vid but I've looked at this a number of times (as well as numerous other youtube vids) and still cant work out if this can be used to supply wet and dry routing to two amps..
I think you would have to use an amps effects loop for the wet amp. It looks like this will only do stereo effects (unless your pedal has a wet/dry knob)
got a couple of questions as i am looking to set up a wet/dry rig..one up being wet and one dry/overdrive
1. can my always on keely compressor which sits just after my drive/fuzz and synth pedal be ok in the dry/fuzz/od loop?
2: what about a looper pedal how would you use that at the end of the wet signal path?
i think i just answered it myself but would like an opinion?
as always i listen to your stuff with headphones
You slipped a cheeky Mastodon riff in there didn't you?
Maaaayyyybeeee 😉🤘
BOSS PS-3, my man. Just in case, is it in mode 7? I can't see it well on the video :(
Of course it’s mode 7 😊👌
@@thepedalzone Awesome, if you excuse me, I'm gonna try to replicate that set because is GODLY. Thanks as always, Stefan
Happy you dig it, man!
Be cool of they make a mk2 or something.
With a stereo out that can give just the positive pan one way and negative phase pan the other or so.e place between.
Is there a way to run the 2 loops in parallel on this with one speaker output, or are the loops always run in series?
Hey stefan!
Do you have issues with ground humming when using two amps like with a morley for example?
I think there must be a hum when you use pedals after the outputs because of the same electriccircuit?
Great demo!
Cheers,
Andre
Output B on Swiss Things is transformer isolated, so you won't get ground loop noise. It's a clever little device.
Could you use output b in your effects loop while hving output a into the front end?
Theoretically I don't see an issue with that, but always best to check with EarthQuaker themselves. They know far more about this product than I do 👍
Hi,
Are you connecting the swiss things to the fender loop?
Regards
No. Going straight into the amps
Thank you!
Hey Stefan, how did you record this to stereo?
I used two amps, each mic'd with their own microphones going to my recording interface. You can see a list of all the gear used in the video description 😊
MOAR PEAVEY
Of course
4:08
Put the whammy back in
Don’t use it
Good job but please work on explaining more
Explaining more? What more would you want to know?
@@thepedalzone If you think your explanation is clear as water then there is nothing to add, if you don't see it is not there .... right???
Well, if you want me to improve, then you could offer more specific constructive feedback instead of something so open and vague as “explain more”. I would like to know what YOU’RE missing, so I can potentially improve.
Excellent, thank you.
Happy you enjoyed the demo :)
