Fixed: Cisco 3850 Loses Config After Reboot

- I found a Cisco Catalyst 3850 the other day that was losing its config after a reboot. This was caused by the config register being set to 0x142, which tells the switch to ignore the startup config.
I was able to resolve this by running this command from global config mode:
no system ignore startupconfig switch all
you've saved my butt twice now! Fairly new to the cisco scene and teaching myself for the time being and I've came across your videos now for my 2960 and the 3850 with these bizarre issues than you've helped me solve :) Thanks man!!
Lost power two weekends in a row which caused my switch to lose its config and break my vlans and trunk ports. Your 2 minute video just saved me 30 minutes of work. Thank you sir! Now to replace my UPS.
Nice work!
Amazing, thank you. I had this exact issue, just remembering that this was a refurbished switch and I was trying to recover password before I wiped it completely, which is when I must have disabled it looking for NVRAM on startup. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this mate! Fixed the issue immediately! I think this happens when you use “set bypass_startup_config=1” or “set switch_ignore_startup_cfg=1” to reset the switch password.
Cheers!
Holly molly, thank you so much sir. Ive been trying to fix it since last monday, and tomorrow we will have to put this switch to work, so today was my deadline hahaha
Wanted to throw in another thank you for this. Bought a couple of used 3650s and had this issue.
Bought a refurbished switch and thought it may be broken. Thanks m8!
Much appreciated! Worked FLAWLESSLY
Glad it helped
This was very helpful when someone buys a refurbished switch and doesn't tell me.
