For me, Nathanos has always been that guy who always tries to tell you how much better he is than you, despite not actually being the case. Based on how he interacts with you in quests he gives I half expect him to try to underplay everything you do.
"Oh, you helped to defeat Argus the manifestation of a Titan world-soul and vanquished the Burning Legion? Well I like, can do that with one hand tied behind my back."
"Oh, you were chosen as the Champion of Azeroth, and your armor is literally infused with the life-blood of Azeroth itself? Well, I am the Champion of the Banshee Queen and have a sick-ass coat. Take that."
To be fair though, it is a pretty cool coat.
God, I wish I could have that coat.

@ComocosonoEWL I think WoW has reminded us of our place in the game with the many quest that required us to pick up animal dung.
Nah, we're champion now. Always champion. They note our accomplishments. For each of us, it wasn't some other group of adventurers, it was us. Our guild/raid group, that one time, was who it was. The other players' stories didn't happen, as far as we're concerned, and vise versa for them.
With the example of Dark Ranger Anya, it seems there's at least one pleasant hobby that the undead can carry forward from life...

@justin perry Nathanos saved Lor'themar's life and helped Sylvanas fight off oraș when they attacked the elves. They beadically became a couple months later, they both matched perfectly, this is how he became ranger-lord. Its unfortunate I haven't played the horde side of quests to see the development of their relationship.
Nobbel, if you could add the part you did in a stream dissing on Nathanos at the end of the next video, just for comic relief, that would make my night.

I waited for this character lore for so loooong , and there it is ;)
The voice actor of Nathanos Blightcaller was in a child's bike safety video in the 80s as a guy named Sam Sprocket who has teleportation powers and wears a pink shirt.
The voice actor has done other wow characters too like Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance and Star Auger in Nighthold.
Now I’m imagining Nathanos wearing a pink shirt, and teleporting everywhere xD

In the pre-Shadowlands event we killed him 1,000s of times. I saved screenshots of the masses of us in Icecrown killing ALL the world bosses.
It was the largest gathering of simultaneous players in an event since WotLK. I was so happy I almost man-cried (smiled).

Nathanos is just a way of introducing a (Dead) Human Allied Race for Horde, a bit like Calia Menethil introduces Undead to the Alliance. It would have been much simpler if they had just given Horde Ogres and Alliance High Elves rather than all the messy Allied Races. I know they didn't do this because of the "Orges are too big" and "Blood Elves are High Elves" arguments but IMO that would have been better. Tauren(ish) sized Ogres would have been fine and if there weren't enough High Elves than how can there be enough Void Elves?!?
Kul'Tiran Humans and Zandalari Troll's are alright the rest are meh reskins.

After thinking on the undead armor I see what they where thinking and I think it will grow on you the more you think about it.
Could you do a video on Halford Wyrmbane? I mean, it’s clear he is the mastermind behind the strike in Dazar’alor, which turns out to be a massive victory for the Alliance. Everyone knows and respects him, and most of all it’s just refreshing to have an alliance character who is actively taking the fight to the Horde rather than simply reacting to what the Horde do. He is also a paladin with a heavy sense of honor, yet he openly embraces SI7 and the void elves as comrades. That guy is such a badass but I can’t find much about his lore. Yet he has been throughout the game for as long as I can remember (the dark portal entrance in the burning crusade and dragonblight zone in Northrend are what I can think of off the top of my head.) Anything you can find would be great!
You know what Nathanos needs now to fit with cool coat? Ashbringer. Considered that it is currently in hands of Liadrin, faithfull lackey of Lich Queen, that would be possible even lorewise.

I've lately noticed a lot of players calling Nathanos a "Simp" but i am confused, doesent he serve Sylvanas? Like hes her knight (Or champion)

I just realized that Arthas' father must of had him late, when he's ruled a kingdom for 70 years and his son is only in his mid 20s

i know that he's generally... disliked by the majority of the fanbase, but i happen to be one of the few who like him.
plus the wow lore experience i've had with my friends (and we're all 25-35 year old ladies) has been that nathanos x sylvanas has become somewhat of an otp. ^-^
but hey, if you haven't seen i highly suggest checking out makanidotdot on tumblr. she's a fantastic artist who's been on a wow kick since the hype for bfa. (i think she worked on the official legend of korra comics, so a truly talented artist imo)

@nobbel87 so i got this theory.i think we are gonna see a agreement between the horde and alliance about war, something like the geneve conventions, an agreement that sets rules for the treatment of prisoners and use of certain means to fight, like the use of azerite.i dont think there will be everlasting peace between the factions, that doesnt really fit in the universe of warcraft.i think we are gonna find something in this expansion or the next that slaps all faction leaders awake and shows that azeroth is dying, with the whole sword sticking out of the planet and the old gods and people using her blood to make even greater weapons to fight wars that hurt her even more, she is in a pretty bad state.and this is what makes the faction leaders at that time agree that we have to reduce the damage we do and dont totally annihilate all live and undeath on azeroth.
and after that we will be tasked with finding a way to stop her from dying,i dont know how they will handle sylvanas and what her role is gonna be, i think its safe to say we arent gonna kill her, but we shall see.
but what do you think nobbel? do you think we are gonna have some council of people talk about war and what is and isnt something that should be allowed, or do you think we will see just another sudden halt in the conflict because some big bad guy shows up and distracts us for awhile untill we deal with that and go back to fighting?
PS: and as i am typing this i am reminded we still dont have much of the darker side of the alliance, or do we and i missed it?i could swear someone at blizzard said that both the horde and alliance were gonna have to deal with some things they were not proud of during the war.
What year did they first talk about nathanos and Sylvanas as a couple? They remind me of wretch and ghost widow from city of heroes and I'm curious which came first.
I thought his hatred for the alliance came from the fact that when they got their free will back they returned to the alliance only to get rejected cause of their new forms?

More of Na-Thanos efforts to decimate life
Nathanos's name comes from Thanatos. Thanatos is the god of Death in Greek mythology. Also, Nathan means to give. Os is often used at the end of a masculine name and doesn't mean anything. His name essentially means either to give to the god of death, to take from the god of death, or to deliver a gift from the god of death depending on how you look at it. His name is more fitting for Thanos than Thanos is but with a twist. It is a name befitting one of such devotion and worship to a harbringer of death, but it also leaves room for betrayal should his false goddess go too far. I wonder how much they thought ahead for him when they named him back in classic.

I see a neat parallel here between the story that Darth Sidious told to Anakin Skywalker about the Sith Lord that could raise the dead back to life, which led Anakin to the dark side.
Nathanos is nothing more than a mere "pet" a "toy" Sylvanas have been playing with for the longest of time. He still thinks he is "a champion" or "something" but the truth is that he will be discarded like a used tissue, At least this would be true if he wasnt a self inserted character into the Lore of Warcraft.
