When I was the safety officer of my college fraternity, I patched a fair few holes in drywall from parties and slammed doors. I always used offcuts from Home Depot and paint stirring sticks because it saved a ton of money
Oh don’t listen to naysayer stuff - you’re great Mike- love whatever you put out. It takes time to get things going and film and supply gathering and budgets- omg so much that’s not shown - I’ve done 2 flips - it’s a lot of stuff - keep on keeping on - love your videos I watch them over and over and I’m not fixing anything🤣🤣 I’m 67 yrs and I think your parents are so proud - I am and I’m not even your parent!! Great job!!!
I like your channel so subscribed vey informative . On a funny note I was scratching my screen thinging my phone had a speck of dirt it was the the nail you were about to spackle 😂😂😂
Hey Mike, great video as usual. But real man, that's a nice house! I wouldn't call it "a hole in the wall!" Lol. Nah I'm joking. Also on a medium sized hole, you can use a 1 by and if not near a stud. And just run a couple screws into the good drywall, and into the board your holding on the inside of the wall. Then put your piece of drywall in place, and run screws through that piece into the board your previously attached to the good drywall next to the hole. I hope that made since.. lol sorry if not.
The real pro tip on all those repairs is that you don't need to sand with sandpaper. Get a damp sponge and go over the entire patch. It takes a little bit longer, but you don't get drywall dust everywhere.

Genius!!! 🔥🔥
@ankereisenman4824, do you use the paint stirring sticks in place of a putty knife or trowel?
@@mollyadams1728 you use them for support behind the patch as opposed to cutting and buying wood pieces.
12:55 When your patch looks better than the rest of the wall 😄
Great tips, Mike! Looking forward to the whole series of you renovating the house!
Thank you! I have two to fill in with knock down texture now!
Try the fast drying spackle (pre-mixed). It's great because it doesn't leave cracks when it dries.
I can’t wait for the videos of the Reno for the house come pouring innnn 😊😊
Thanks for all the tips Mike.
That's some impressive work Mike!

Your an awesome instructor ❤
Just saved me so much money!
is that brown on the walll where the paper have been pulled off? Will you have to put mud on them all?
Use California patch for small holes, not the kits. Use a raking light to check your sanding for smoothness
Thanks Mike, I now know I've done my patches wrong lol

Does the mesh hold better than tape?
First boy ❤
Why are all the homes in the U.S made out of cardboard ? In India we have solid concrete earthquake proof buildings everywhere made of RCC.
You’re an adult, you should find the answer to your own question
@@ShutupandListen You are a child, you should shut up and listen.
As a European watching this I can‘t help but laugh.
This is awful in America as well. Please choose something else to make fun of us for :-)
I'm with ya, man's a cowboy builder 🤠
No "california drywall patch?"
You should really use a square drywall patch and do this the right way and not the landlord special.
