I was part of the motorcycle escort at his funeral, it was early November 2014 and the weather was hauntingly beautiful. Will never forget that day. RIP Alvin.
I met him on the train where he was going up to play the gloves off tour at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a real gentleman & his stories were brilliant, R.I.P
Thank you. I met him at Lakeside in Frimley early 80s, really nice bloke. I got his autograph on a pound note, then forgetting id done that I bought a round with it.
One of the true originals from the 70s will never forget watching him on top of the pops complete with the leathers the gloves and of course that ring. One of the true originals
An absolutely fabulous performer THE best singing voice of any rock singer in the world ever ,I saw him at the Mayfair Newcastle in the 70s he actually pointed at me wearing the gloves and the huge diamond ring 💍 such a big loss to music and the world 😢 Sleep tight Alvin now that you're dead,my brother loves you now break dancing to buddy Holly's eyes your music lives on🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I thought I followed rock and roll music very closely but to be honest, I've never heard of him until now. I'm glad I watched this video. I learned something new. Now I'm going to go watch some of his videos.
The 70's were magical times and he was a part of it, of course non of us knew what we had until it was gone, i hope all of you who experienced that time have long happy lives, our memories sometimes keep us going.
They were indeed magical times, something special was happening, for those of us who were tuned into that. A silent revolution, Wishing you a long and happy life too. See you on the other side sometime.
Shane Fenton and the Fentones Origin: England Genres: Rock and roll Years active: 1960-1964 Label: Parlophone Shane Fenton and the Fentones were an English rock and roll group formed in 1960. Shane Fenton, the band's namesake, was actually the stage name of two different musicians; when the first Shane Fenton, real name Johnny Theakston, suddenly died, he was replaced by Bernard Jewry who assumed the Shane Fenton identity. They had four top 40 hits with Jewry as their lead singer. Jewry would later find fame as *Alvin Stardust* ...
I met Alvin in Clydach market Swansea on a busy Sunday morning,i think he had just got married,he was very friendly and talking to people there, down to Earth guy,
He was one of the best when he played at the talk of the Midlands he'd stay at the York Hotel in Derby and he'd serve behind the bar telling stories ture star RIP ALVIN
I saw Alvin 5 times as a teenager. I was in love with him, my dad was horrified!! Not sure if dad was teasing me! He has left a big hole nobody can fill. RIP Alvin ❤❤
I had a band in the early 60s named after my name Shane Tamp we called ourselves Shane and the Tampons unfortunately for some reason we got only one weeks work in the first month and that was it
Shane Fenton made a spectacular entrance on a Larry Parnes package show circa 1961, flying out of stage right, dressed in a silver lame suit he executed the splits, a helll of an opening. Top of the bill was Billy Fury with Eden Kane closing the first half of the show, Georgie Fame was also on the bill. Not a bad lineup I think you'll agree.
Who knows what his real name was, but as Shane Fenton he had a couple of hits including Moody Guy. His backing band The Fentones did a great version of The Mexican.
All the stars I grew to know in the 70s, are dead the music these days are not for everyone, like back then when grandma's or your moms liked certain songs, how my heart breaks that we have lost good songs about love and heartbreak, and now we have crap music about shooting people and murder
I never saw him but when i was 14/15 years old i helped a milkman deliver milk at the weekend and holidays. ( for the younger people we got milk, cream, butter etc from a milkman ). We use to deliver milk to his house when he lived in Stanmore
A friend of a friend knew a bloke who lived the rock and roll lifestyle; smoking fancy cigarettes, drinking fashionable beers, expensive cocktails and having it off with anyone that was available at last orders. One night he was having a really bad trip, he’d missed a connection and the bus that had been put on to replace the train had broken down four miles from their final destination. It was back in the days before jet packs so there was no other option but to try and complete the journey on foot. Luckily he was wearing special shoes that helped keep the worst effects of the dirty pavement from ruining the soft skin of the underside of his feet.
My brother knew him as Shane Fenton but when I first met him he was already Alvin Stardust but wasnt quite a star yet I got a call telling me to watch Top of the Pops and there he was performing tons better with the Theatrics Cant remember what the song was I want to say my cooch a coo but I think that was after We named a cat after it As often happens we lost touch as he became more and more famous but continued to get Christmas cards from his wife until their divorce Remember him fondly
Like Elton, Rod the Mod, Gary Glitter and a few others which were leftovers from the previous decade and were a bit older than the rest of the artist of the time.
I was a student nurse at Mansfield And District General Hospital when Shane Fenton and the Fentones were around. This has unearthed memories of a particularly happy period in my life. I think Tony Hinchcliffe’s mother worked in the Nurses Home. Brilliant times to look back in⭐️😊🧤
Her name was Kathleen Hinchcliffe, that was my great gran. We live in Somerset but I remember going to visit mum’s family in Mansfield. Mum lived there until she was a teenager.
You read through his life as if you had never heard him sing... "Coo-Car-Joo" as _you_ pronounced it was better than you made it sound - but maybe that was just (to give you the benefit of the doubt) your bland, straight forward Aussie accent... In your haste to read off details of a man before your time, your dulled inflection gives no hint of the Star personality and likeable persona inherent in the man. Instead, your rushed monotone intimates at just another wannabe mere mortal looking for, and temporarily finding fame. If you want to put down the success of any singer, carry on in that unflattering fashion. If, on the other hand, you felt at any time the artist you described was worthy of his fandom, you could try speaking as though his life was more than just black or white print in a white or dark page!! A man's life, if it is to be remembered fondly, especially by those who lived through his era, ought to be celebrated with more feelings in his description than "... He was born. He sang. He lived a certain way. He died"!! We _all_ do versions of that. He deserved more. (and "my Coo-cCa-Joo" deserved the sweet sensitivity it didn't receive from your "mispronounced dismissal of a silly title" as though his _fans_ meant nothing as they sang along fondly to that song. 😠 Alvin Stardust... Rest In Peace.🏴😞
These videos are machine created. It's an Artificial computer voice, that spouts out a script.. not a human being and it shows.. Weirdly, My Coo Ca Choo was Peter Shelley singing on the record. they both had similar voices - but if you listen to the B-Side it's clearly Peter Shelley.. Both sang on Jealous Mind (but on that one mostly Alvin). He was a great singer on many of his own records, and a lovely person .
Didn't he marry Lisa Goddard and they both became born again Christians? They jad a TV show for a short while. I didn't watch any, I was channel hopping and he was apologising for something he had said the previous week.. Stardust, the name for cocaine. Interesting choice of name.
I watched him a few times .On my last time he could hardly stand , but gave it his all. His voice was still great . R.I.P
I was part of the motorcycle escort at his funeral, it was early November 2014 and the weather was hauntingly beautiful. Will never forget that day. RIP Alvin.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was just what the early 70s needed different but with good songs for the glam rock era
Amazing performer, saw him sing live once. He was fantastic, apart from his own hits he also knew every rock and roll song, had a brilliant night. RIP
Performed right up until his death. A real old school trouper!
He used to buy his gloves in a shop I worked in. He was always very quiet and very sweet.
Jealous mind was one of my favourite tunes of the 70's...still call it up on you tube now and again for a reminder of how great the 70,s were..!
I met him on the train where he was going up to play the gloves off tour at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a real gentleman & his stories were brilliant, R.I.P
How lucky were you! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful memory 🥰
I remember him as Shane Fenton and the Fentones
Yep, me too.👍
He was great in the 60s, He was great in the 70's and He was great in the 80's
Thank you. I met him at Lakeside in Frimley early 80s, really nice bloke. I got his autograph on a pound note, then forgetting id done that I bought a round with it.
He was great in his Day 🎤🎶
Such a distinctive look in the mid 70's - particularly with the gloves and ring.

Sadistic Nonce
Alvin had a rockabilly edge. A good rocker.
One of the true originals from the 70s will never forget watching him on top of the pops complete with the leathers the gloves and of course that ring. One of the true originals

Watched him perform live at Batley Variety Club 1974
He modelled his look partly on gene Vincent the leather and the way he acted on stage .
I really like your channel and style
Thank you, I appreciate you 🤗
He lived in the next village to me, my sister in laws Sister went out with him for awhile, she was very good looking.

I was working at The Royal Surrey hospital once when I saw him there a number of times I gather he was there for treatment

I remember in the early 70's that I thought that Stardust was out of time and place?
Like Elton, Rod the Mod, Gary Glitter and a few others which were leftovers from the previous decade and were a bit older than the rest of the artist of the time.
Love Alvin R i p ❤
My sister and I met him at pebble mill.
Legend 🖤
There's an old piano and its playing hot behind the green door !!!!
He was good
Tony Hinchcliffe, drummer, was my mum’s uncle. X

I liked Alvin stardust. He looked so much older than what he did though
So he didn't actually sing my coo-ca-choo?? Didn't know that.
Just like Billy Fury.
Same fate
I knew Johnny Theakstone’s parents Harry and Nellie
I knew him well..once took me to Warrington for a new school blazer...big lapels that had no room for school badge..
Sorry to say this but how the hell does a 2 month old / 8 week old baby fall down the stairs ?
I knew his mother, she and my mum used to work together. Met Alvin on many ocassions and gave his daughter a teddy
Oh how lovely! 🥰
A legendary icon don't think so, they were called groups in them days not bands.
You forgot a wonderful time up there song
All dressed in blak with gloves yes I remember ...
BBC Children’s shows Sir Clif 🤔you forgot to mention a prominent sadistic member on the RAINS LIST 🙏💒 8:04
Southwell is pronounced Suthul to the locals
My friends mum went out with him at one point
How does a 2 month old baby fall down stairs ffs?
She was 2 yrs
Always looked a bit weird to me if you know what I mean
Funny that he was a Christian with a name like Bernard Jewry.
Difficult to think of a more untalented entertainer than Alvin, i suppose Joe Pasquale comes close as having almost less talent.
Shane Fenton and the Fentons and Alvin Stardust LMFAO. 🤣
He beat his wife! 😢
Vince Taylor copycat
