  • In a live Q&A video, vocal coach Charmaine Brown answers this question from a Worship Vocalist subscriber…
    “Are there exercises that specifically address pitch in the lower range? Songs like Reckless Love and Who You Say I Am are what get me. I feel like they should be easy, but they can be difficult - not because of the range, but because I am off-pitch in the verses. What do you recommend to help stay on pitch and not go flat or sharp in certain parts of your range?”

      Also, I have a phlegm situation going on. It’s making my voices cracky. And I can also hear two notes when I’m singing a note. The one that I’m not Intentionally singing, is raspy. Does that have anything to do with phlegm?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  3 года назад

      @@ZaniaAlake yes, sounds like excess mucus. I would try cutting out dairy and sugar, as they tend to cause inflammation which leads to mucus production.

    Thank you so much. For me, pitch is also a problem. I think sometimes lack breath support does not allow me to stay in pitch.

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 года назад +2

      Hey Byron! Lack of breath support can contribute to pitch, but it is often not the main cause as much as people think!

    How do you stop being terrified of singing the lead vocals for Sunday morning worship??

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 года назад +11

      Hey Leslie! I declare confidence over you in Jesus name! Lots of prayer for sure (I used to be terrified as well!) - but also, the more you work to improve your vocal skill, the more you will be able to trust your voice, and that leads to more confidence, less nerves!

      Hey! I don’t have experience with this specific issue - I wouldn’t definitely recommend you see a speech therapist to get some exercises to help!

    I play lead guitar at church. I know what sounds good and I improvise everything from old hymns to the new stuff. My ear works great. The problem is getting my voice to match what I'm hearing... Please help

      Hey Daniel! I would suggest taking some private voice lessons to help get your voice matching pitch!

    What you think is considered pitchy as in from 50 cents before moving the next note? 0 is considered the middle and -50 is flat and +50 is sharp and anything beyond that is the next note?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 года назад

      Yes, that’s what I would call “pitchy”-slightly off-pitch but not singing a completely different note.
