  • Do you ever wish that the sound coming out of your mouth when you sing would match the passion you feel inside? Sometimes we don't quite hit the high notes on pitch, our voice cracks and breaks (at the worst possible moment)... or we’re just not satisfied with the sound of the vocal tone that’s coming out. I’ve been there too!!! But I’ve discovered some things on my vocal journey… that I want to share with you! I want to help you match the passion you have inside with a powerful, engaging, on-pitch vocal tone!
    Check out this song tutorial for “No Longer Slaves”, where I give you strategies for hitting the high notes confidently and on pitch! I’ll also show you some of my stylistic secrets… how to add a breathy, edgy texture and grit to your sound without hurting or straining your voice!

    Hey. I’m recovering from thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed. There was damage done to my vocal cords. I’ve been listening to and using your videos to help strengthen my voice. I’ve been able to sing no longer slaves along with you. I’ve recently heard a song that I’d like to see if you would do, More by Red Rocks Worship. Love the song and would love to practice singing it. I haven’t been able to sing since December. Looking so forward to getting to sing again, hopefully soon.

      Happy to hear you are on the mend and I pray that you will experience supernatural recovery and healing! Definitely take it easy and slow, give your voice lots of rest, and let it build back slowly! I just heard "More" the other day, what a lovely song!

    Just ran into these videos. Love that you cover songs we have sung in church. I sang lead in this song in the original key, never thought of doing it in D. I feel comfy in the b/a keys. We usually sing in those keys because we have only 2 vocalist, a male and I. My husband helps out also. None of us are experienced musicians so we have a lot to learn. We also only have a an acoustic guitar and a cajon.
    It helps when/if you go over each part for both male and female leads. Can't wait to see the next song.

      I'm glad the videos are helpful for you! I've led worship for many years with just myself and my husband, and I find with limited vocalists and limited instrumentation, picking the best key for the leader's voice is very important, so you can be confident and comfortable as you sing!

    You unravel me
    With a melody
    You surround me with a song
    Of deliverance
    From my enemies
    'Til all my fears are gone
    … I'm no longer a slave to fear
    I am a child of God
    I'm no longer a slave to fear
    I am a child of God
    … From my mother's womb
    You have chosen me
    Love has called my name
    I've been born again
    Into Your family
    Your blood flows through my veins
    … I'm no longer a slave to fear
    I am a child of God
    I'm no longer a slave to fear

      I would recommend going higher for a female voice - try the key of D!

    It seems like adding a breathy tone is mostly for studio recording but not so much for live performance. Is this not the case?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 года назад +1

      From my perspective it definitely works for both studio and live!

    Thank you so much! I get an itch at the back of my throat and end up coughing whenever I try to sing high. What can be the case? I used to be able to sing the same high notes a few years ago but I haven't sung much in the last 3 years.

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  3 месяца назад

      It sounds like your voice is just out of shape - which is totally normal after not singing as much for awhile! No need for concern - consistent training with vocal exercises will help you regain strength!

    im so confuse what key i will use first in G then G# then Eb then Bb but what most important i can sing the bridge more power most of my song i can sang it in G#

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  5 лет назад +1

      The important thing is that the chorus and bridge are both within your singable range (meaning, you need to be able to hit the notes!)... AND that they sit in the higher part of your range, so that they have the most power and brightness, to add dynamic to the song!
