That’s pretty gnarly that the top of the motors don’t turn. How long does it take to get used to that?

It's weird at first but you get used to it right away. You have a rudder indicator on the gauges too.

Very impressive boat. Those 600's are astonishing. Glad the fixes for the A/C and autopilot were that simple. Must be fun to drive a big, fast boat like the 48.
BTW a boat I am considering is available with either Merc V8 300's or Yamaha 300's. I am leaning toward the Merc's -- I've heard the V8 300 is a quiet, powerful motor. Any experience with those motors?

The 600 is an impressive outboard for sure. I have not seen too many of the V8 Mercury outboards to be honest. If they are like the 600 then I would say go for it. Their new stuff seems on par with Yamaha. 😊

Hi Justin, I’m a big fan of your channel. I have a question,if you were to choose between a mercury 300 new v8 or the Yamaha 300 which one would you choose? Thanks in advance

Good question. I would go with the Yamaha. It's been out longer than the new Mercury and has proven to be bullet proof like most Yamaha products.

Do you need a captains license for that boat? Is that why you needed your coworker?

Good question. You don't need a Captain's license unless the boat is past a certain foot in size. 70 feet or bigger I think. Jim wanted to go to make sure the auto pilot was working correctly because it was his customer.

Any known issues with the 600's?

The only thing I have seen is the recalls for them. Minor stuff really. The usual when you put a new product out. Other than that they seem to be doing great.
